5:40 - choose "predrill" as ramping style for the adaptive and select the pre-drilled hole .. the endmill will rapid down the existing hole and start side cutting right away, without unnecessary axial engagement (faster, smoother, better for tool life, etc.)

Just need to program the CNC to run the airline for you. Fusion360 probably has a post processor for that

Great stuff Jeff. Are you going to convert your mini-lathe to CNC? I did mine some time ago using the JFettig plans. I wish I had time to use it more. I have a Sherline 5400 CNC Mill that I'm converting over to GRBL and getting rid of Mach 3. No fancy tool holders on my mill either. I also have a SB 9C like yours without the legs though. Love the videos please keep them coming!

Thanks! I’ve got plans for the mini lathe, still working on them, but it’s a machine not forgotten! I think there are some tool change options for the Sherline machines but I couldn’t tell you, sounds like a good project though!

Here's a link to help you out with your chatter problem. Basically your small RDOC caused your actual chip load to be too small In general, up your chip load by slowing your rpm when taking small passes with long tools Whenever I have chatter, my first go to to quickly solve it is slowing the rpm only.
