The second of two Haversack Projects replicates the kind of gear sold in Dry Goods and General Stores in towns and villages across America in the time before there was a large nationwide Outdoor Products Industry serving trekkers and backwoodsmen. This Haversack occupies the Historic space between homemade gear and Army surplus and more expensive catalog goods from outfits like Abercrombie & Fitch and LL Bean.

It is, and it got the creative juices flowing again. I've got a couple ideas floating in my head to do as soon as the WW2 portion of The History of Camping Gear is done.

Enjoying this build, I hand stitch myself, good way to pass the time. Question for ya, does that fabric from H/Lobby start to shed on the edges? I usually use painters drop cloth and find it is messy due to the edges start to send out little strands after cutting, thanks

One reason I do 20th Century stuff is that I'm not a fan of hand stitching. 😉 I've not had much trouble with the HL canvas. I hem anything that is exposed, but that's about it.
