I loved that you used the safety beveler to knock down the center of the sheath to make a smoother fold. it looks like it works way better than my gouge. I also like using the belt grinder to round over the outside edges of the sheath as opposed to using an edge beveler. that worked out real well too thanks for the tips and love the channel

As always a work of a true master even if the leatherworking is not your favorite thing on a knife build, u inspired me to do my own sheaths for my knives, one tip I will add for beginners who see this video, if you round the sheath like Kyle mark the stitches at least 4mm from the edge , or else u will be too close to the stitches, and be careful when drilling the drill bit will wander on thicker parts of the sheath if not handled with care.

Better than drilling holes in leather, is using an awl. This way, there is no material removed, but the leather is going to hold onto your stitching much better.

Thanks for the tutorial! If you have not tried making and using a stitching pony to hold the sheath while sewing, I think you have have really missed out. Word of warning about drilling holes in the welt rather than using a pony and diamond awl. Kyle makes it look easy, but the rest of us mere mortals need take great care that the sheath does not tilt as this makes the exit holes lie too close to the edge, or worse, wander unevenly. That was the biggest reason I stopped drilling and started using a diamond awl, if it started coming out outside of the pre-cut groove, I could back it up and adjust the angle back on target.

That is about the only thing I have found my dremel work station to be good for. Theres way too much slop to be using it for drilling anything more than this. It is good for finishing edges with a sanding drum and locked at a 90° angle, but only for small sheaths I have found.
