Don't know that I like the piece in question, but it's certainly cool to see the process. And as someone who works in contemporary music and contemporary art, I absolutely agree with the commentary.
You're one of my favorite artist to watch, from paintings to building custom furniture you care about the small details, as do I. Very few people see the small details they only see the picture. You're an inspiration.
Cool technique. I don't know a lot about art but I enjoy nearly every painting/mural made by Kelcey Fisher or Jeff Weins. I really liked your aviation themed work with the big star in it!
hi Jon I really liked the way you framed out that canvas, the painting is edgy I like it it almost seems industrial like a glimpse of an I beam end profile and I think the frame reinforces that statement. I think one of these days I'm gonna try out this painting lark all the best Jon.
Like others commenting here, I sat watching and thought you were going to perhaps scrape the surface and leave a crisp border between the red and white. Then as you allowed them to blend, I thought, oh no, I don't like where this is going... However, the final piece really surprised me! I don't want to sound like some art nut who thinks he has the answers to life the universe and everything (42), but the final image has movement and flow to me. The whole product between painting and frame is just sweet. Glad I watched. :D
I'd not heard of this medium before but seems like it might be interesting to work with. Agree with your comments about art/craftsmanship and different mediums/previsualization. Peace.
Hi Jon like this piece of art and just to say . We all need to think outside the box just in case you missed something or some one that could have changed your direction all . It was something new nice one Jon David in the uk
I thought you were going to take a large scraper, like a planer blade, and run it across the top to make the white and red distinctly separated and keep a clean edge around the border.
Nice video Jon , very mind opening . The painting to me reminds me of banksy's with the girl with the balloons on the military wall or border (cant remember exactly) A painting can be hiding the image you are making , maybe you don't know what it is till you are done .
Beautiful, it's beautiful! That's what I just said to my wife. I liked how you told about your inspiration and how the craft helps people appreciate it, even if they don't like the picture.
This is defiantly not my kind of painting and I would not give it a second glance but it must appeal to some. Keep making the videos I do like most of them and it would be a very dull world if we all liked the same things
I really enjoy your videos and work. Have much respect for what you are doing and have done. This video almost has a documentary feel to it and have watched it several times because of that.
Ah, nice Jon. Like the new storytelling format. I've always been a big fan of Jasper Johns and Josef Albers but I've never really made a serious attempt with encaustic medium. I've been watching a few of your encaustic videos the last few weeks and have been inspired to begin my first real encaustic project for an art auction in March. Thanks for the videos.
It's an interesting piece. I agree with some that it looks like it might be hung upside down. I thought, whoa, it's a mushroom cloud and then you hung it the other way.
Very nice video Jon and great result on your painting. Never seen the wax paint before, very interesting. Been following your channel for a while. You have a good mix of woodworking, art and hobby. Btw how is the beehive doing? Havent seen much about it, maybe I missed a video. All the best!
+Rene van der Zee thank you I appreciate it ... well the bees are not good, my son Michael will be taking over the bee project this spring and we should have a bee video up some time in April.
looks like a used pad to me :D But the Idea is great and I like the Aluminium Sides... A very rustic image would have fitted better in my taste.. but what do I know. I don´t have a single painting.
Very cool Jon. Have you changed your video production/editing? This video ( and few of your more recent videos) have a different "feel" to them... camera angles... narration... .
Nice piece. How did you create the dish effect you started with? Thank you for all your videos! I am in awe of the medium and gathering supplies to get started.
Actually the painting grows on me, at first when you made it, I thought it was pretty strange, but hanging it up on the red wall, makes all the difference. "the red tornado" kind of like, if you put red food coloring i a glass of milk..... makes me think of that ;-D
is the art work affected by ambient temperature say in the south where it is so very hot during the day sometimes candles will even get soft is the air conditioning cant keep up
+Albert Kelly how about you quantify that statement? It's easy to say something is crap, but why do you feel that way? Do you not like the image? Or is it the technique you don't like? I'd really like to know, I'm not an "art guy" so to speak so I'm curious
+Albert Kelly while i feel this so called art is awful, it would be remiss of me not to mention the woodwork on this channel is first class and is what i come for most.
