I gotta tell ya Brother I just happened by your videos by accident just surfing the web to figure out how to make a carving knife from a straight razor for my son. I star t ed watching your video becouse I thought the picture of the knife at the begining was absolutely out of this world. After your video started. First thing I saw was the nail and the crown if thorns. I asked the Lord to save me New Year Eve 2000. Been a rough year in 2019. I can't tell you how much that picture meant to me. Can't explain what it did. Typing this with tears in my eyes. Just wanted to let you know your testimony meant something to someone. God Bless you Brother. If we never meet on this side of heaven I'll see you there.

Dude, I have almost the exact same fusion, only mine never fused so they had to put in rods and screws in the back. ALIF (L3-L5) , Laminectomy Rods w/Pedicle Screws (L3-L5) a grand total of 12 screws, 1 titanium plate, and two Rods in 3 vertebrae. It’s a real mess in there. Hope yours is healed/healing well!
@WJBlades
@WJBlades 5 лет назад
The ALIF fused good... didn't change much for me. One of my nerve roots has scar tissue inside it that leaves it in a perpetual state of inflammation. I've learned the new rules for my life to stay functional most days. I'm In a perpetual state of pain, I just try my best to keep it to a minimum. There are no more medical options for me, I just stay as active as I can and count my blessings. If you ever want to talk about your scar story feel free to email me and I'll give you my number. 😎

Thanks for brightening up my day. I have a Randall pathfinder coming in December and I'm new to knives and especially this type of knife, antler. Mine is curved like yours and I haven't seen any other Randall handle as curved as yours and mine. You make knives and you are happy, so that makes me happy. $ 650 is a lot for me. I forgot what I ordered and the price and when I saw how curved it was, I got worried that they gave me a bad one due to my ignorance. Mine is also stainless. I ordered that when I first got into knives and was worried about caring for a knife. Stainless was 75 dollars more I guess. 🤣 Now I have many folders that are d2 and only one is a rust magnet. But I have since used museum wax when I put it away for longer periods. I live in San Diego. I'm still new. 9 months in collecting. Any advice? Would you use your Randall if you had one! I'm thinking of using mine. HRC is 56 to 57 so I think it's ok Also I just got a mora garberg stainless and a bps Ukrainian knife 1044 at 59 to 60, 30 dollars. Many RU-vid personal say this Ukrainian knife is the best knife for the price at the moment. Should I just use them and treat the Randall as an example of great craftsmanship? Just wondering what your thoughts are. My first knife is a loveless drop point hunter, but I bought that for my grandniece to sell if she needs a start on college. She's 8. I know this is a long comment, sorry. Also, do you sell knives? Do you take payments? That is how I bought all these knives I'm taking about. Even my Emmett Hinderer was in payments. That thing was so sharp, I didn't even know I cut myself taking it out of the sheath.🤣 I liked your enthusiasm about making knives. I use to paint and throw pots on the wheel. I understand the feeling. Be blessed and have a happy Halloween with your boy, ✌️🦁

Yo, Enjoyed your video. In the future, if you do not want that peened pin on the end. when you have plenty of tang like you had, just cut a little off the tang to allow more room at the end of the antler. Then on the pommel end take a bolt (if you have the room you can add a nut as well to allow more for the epoxy to hold onto) and weld it onto the end cap. Now drill a hole into the antler on the end at the same depth as that welded bolt and epoxy it in. Presto no peened pin on the end. Also, the time to etch all of that Damascus is right before you put all of that together. Always try to use an epoxy with a longer cure time... the longer the cure time obviously give you more time to fiddle with things but more importantly , the longer the cure time the stronger the epoxy. West systems is the best I have seen and is what most professional knifemakers use. No criticism here, Just some constructive remarks from an old guy who has been making knives for almost 15 years. I would have no problem carrying that knife on my side. Keep making them and keep learning on how to make them better. Once the knife making bug gets you your bank account is in trouble. I have spent a lot of $$$$. The best part is long after you have left this planet that knife you just made could be in the hands of your great, great-grandson handed down as a family jewel! Enjoy my friend!
@WJBlades

Thanks for the very thoughtful and polite comment. I use 2000 pound epoxy with an hour working time. I have more ideas on different techniques to use than I have time to try them out. I'm hoping to build a garage closer to the house in the next couple of years. It would be nice to be able to work in a shop with heat and electricity. If you're ever in the upstate New York area feel free to stop in and see me.

@WJBlades

The hole isn't straight. It's two holes that meet in the middle and then they are shaped a bit more with small files. Also some grinding on the tang to get the perfect fit.
