‪@cloudberryflowers-flowerfarm‬ Growing A Cut Flower Garden In Zone 8b, Scotland.
We have had some very wet and windy weather for the last few weeks which has taken its toll on the garden. Today the weather has settled and the sun has come out. It's feeling cold though so I don't think there are many days left of flowers this year. I took a walk around the garden this morning to see what flowers I could find to make an October seasonal jar arrangement and there were some lovely treasures to still find. In this video we look at what is still flowering for me in mid October and put together a jar arrangement for the stall.
Inspiration for your autumn cut flower garden. Here is a list of what I cut in the garden today:
Asters (perennial)
Cosmos (annual)
Dahlias (tubers)
Mallow (perennial from seed)
Achillea (perennial from seed)
Eryngium (perennial)
Scabious (annual)
Snapdragons (annual)
Apple mint (grown from seed)
Sedum (perennial)
Physocarpus darts gold (foliage)
Panicum elegans frosted explosion and cloud grass (grown from seed)

Beautiful arrangement, could you in a future video go through all the perennials you like to use. Many thanks, I always learn a lot from your videos.

Hello, thanks for watching this week 😊 Yes that’s a good idea to do another video on all the perennials I grow for cutting as an update. I did an earlier one here if you would like to watch it for some ideas: Favourite Summer Perennials for Cut Flowers ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Z2KLzcHTHz0.html

Beautiful arrangement Catherine lovely to see you back. Been having a look back at some of your other videos and taken inspiration for the winter season and going to grow some paperwhites and amaryllis. Thank you for all your informative and enjoyable clips, best wishes.

Hello, thanks so much for tuning in again to my autumn flower video. It has been such a busy term for me with helping my daughter apply to university, studying to retrain myself and keep the flowers going so I haven’t managed as many videos as normal but lots of ideas for future ones after another season learning in the garden.

Absolutely beautiful arrangement. You amaze me with how many stems you can actually get into a relatively small jar. Stunning. I’ve bought a physocarpus darts gold this year and wondered do you need to mulch it over winter?

Thank you 😊 I am definitely one for putting lots of different varieties of flowers in one jar! My physocarpus I don’t mulch and it has been pretty tough coming back every year despite some hard winters. I have a few in different spots in the garden and they have all done well with no mulch over the winter.

Wonderful! I've put annual grasses on my list for next year! In Niagara region in Ontario Canada we are having a long autumn as usual and finally some rain. Thank you for your video- it's a perfectly blend of information and beauty.

Hello and thanks so much for watching from Ontario 😊 annual grasses are definitely a great thing to have on your list for next year. I am glad you have got some much needed rain. We have had a good few frosts and some stormy weather in the last few days so that is definitely the flowers now finished for the season. Time to get digging up the dahlias soon and think about Christmas wreaths.

Thank you, those flowers ended up being the last ones for the year as we had a good few frosts straight after, so I am so glad I cut them and had just enough left over to enjoy a vase in the kitchen 😊

We've had a very wet summer as well in USA New England, but we haven't had a frost yet this year, which usually we've had one already. Love your style of arranging, I've gotten so many tips from you this year especially when you focus on an individual type of flower. I definitely need to plant more succession of grasses and fillers next year as you recommend in a previous video. I'm waiting on a frost to dig up my dahlias. Take care and thank you for the wonderful content.🪻

Hello, thanks for watching this week. I just got those flowers cut in time to make the video yesterday as this morning we woke up to a proper frost. I am hoping to do more videos on the individual flowers. I have a few I have filmed over the last few months so just need to go back through them all and put that together. If there are any individual flower videos you would like for next year please do let me know and if I grow it I would be happy to do a video on it. It was an interesting summer being so wet as some things definitely flowered better than others. Did anything do well for you despite the wet weather?

@@cloudberryflowers-flowerfarmthe Rudbeckia seemed to do very well even with all the rain. I wondered if you had enough footage for bupleurum, ageratum and Jewels of Opar for the specific type of flower videos. I've grown all of them and struggled but would love to hear how you grow these. I all ways learn so much from you. Thanks again. 🌱

Such a gorgeous bouquet, it’s amazing what’s still available. I love the Darts Gold but mines has been eaten alive for some reason. Thank you for an amazing video xx

Thanks so much for watching. That’s a shame that your physocarpus has been nibbled this year. I wonder what it’s been? We have had a proper few frosts now and that’s the dahlias done for another year, time to getting digging them up soon.

Inspiring as usual. What is the Dahlia with the pale yellow fading to pale pink flowers? It's gorgeous.

Hello, thanks so much for watching this one. It ended up being the last flowers for this season as the frosts came right after. I think the dahlia you mean in the video is wine eyed jill.

So gorgeous. We had a couple of light frosts but the dahlias have held up! What’s the gorgeous little purple dahlia you hold when talking about bendy stems? I need a bit more depth in my dahlias.

Hi, thanks so much. I wonder if you have had any more frosts since you watched the video? We have had a few more and the dahlias are definitely all finished now for the year. I think the dahlia you mean is dark spirit and just behind in the video was a small one too called little Robert.

Beautiful thank you Do we add anything to the water when conditioning plants?
@cloudberryflowers-flowerfarm
@cloudberryflowers-flowerfarm 9 месяцев назад
Hello, thanks for watching. Lots of people do add different things to their water for conditioning but I never have. I have always just made sure my buckets were clean, filled with fresh water and the stems stripped of lower leaves for conditioning and it has given me very good vase life. When they are in the vase I then make sure they get new water every couple of days too.
