You are such a wonderful delight to listen to! I just cleaned my house listening to you gleefully discuss tomatoes and the amazing sandwiches they make. I prefer to use sourdough and an obscene amount of Mayo with a good smattering of pepper too, but I love how you phrased it, “if you enjoy it, then it’s made just right”. You are such a radiant joy!

My mother in law made my father in law a tomato sandwich for his lunch and he made the fatal mistake of telling her he enjoyed it. She made him the same tomato sandwich for the next 20 years until he retired. He was too polite to ask her for a change Of filling 🤣🍅🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 Thanks for the videos, I love them! ❤

Just wanted to add a variation to really annoy some people 😉 Tomato on toast is another classic, I’m Australian but when I visited the US I noticed your bread is way sweeter and we put butter on our bread which I think is not common there… anyway just wanted to say if you like tomato sandwiches try it on toast with some butter, salt and pepper. Just trust me! I swear it’s good 😅

I was just thinking a couple weeks ago, “I wonder when/if Mary is going to do her annual tomato sandwich video.” 😄🍅 I LOVE tomato sandwiches and only eat them during the summer when I pick from my family garden. Since I was a little girl (agra ago) my mum always made tomato and cucumber sandwiches in summer. The only difference is that fresh whole grain bread is coming from a bakery and not from a super market. I have recently bought some sour dough bread and few heirloom purple tomatoes are ripe in my garden today and guess what?? I'm making a tomato pannini sandwich tonight! Mary....I'm irish born and bread, and I swear ro you, I was brought up eating tomato sandwiches, my granny made them for us, it has to be a really good home or farm grown Tom's, we had them also with chopped up scallions, some salt pepper and spread kerry gold butter on the bread, it's also really good with multiseed bread. ❤

My family is in rural Western PA, my Grandpa had BIG, beautiful gardens. We always ate the giant, garden tomatoes on white bread, a slice of cheese, mayo & salt & pepper. I miss them SO MUCH!! TY for the videos! 💜🌻🌈🍄🍀

How glorious. Thanks Mary. Nothing quite as nostalgic as a tomato sandwich. We use butter or margarine in our sandwiches here in NZ usually but as an adult, I tend to follow the American tradition of not doing that. I can’t wait for summer to have a delicious, tasteful tomato sandwich.

I've watched you make these for years but have yet to try it. The only other things I like on sliced white bread are bologna, and on very rare occasions, tuna with a lot of mayonnaise. Maybe after next weeks farmers market I'll have to get some of everything. And iceberg lettuce. Bologna requires big leaves of iceberg, not romaine or leaf lol.

I’m a Northwest gal and was raised on Best Foods mayonnaise. Recently, I saw Dukes at the grocery store and said “Jesus, take the wheel - we’re going to try Duke’s!” I was pleasantly surprised. (It’s still not as good as BF in my opinion) but is a great alternative! 😂 Thank you, Mary, for encouraging me to expand my mayonnaise horizons! 🤣
