I admire all your knitting projects - but because I won your pattern gift giveaway recently i don't need to go into the draw - i love my pattern prize thank you again 🌷🌷🌷🐬🌷🌷🙏🏼
Love your Radvent! I swear every week you are wearing something that gives me inspiration for my mini sets/advents/combining lonely skeins! Some really good patterns showcased at the end. I added the Mabon and Tursa to my favorites!
Thank you! I've been loving mini skeins and it's definitely time to start thinking about that. I've been combing through some patterns in the last couple of days trying to come up with fun ways I can incorporate mini skeins that aren't really meant for that.. So I guess we'll see what happens 😂. Tursa is going on my bucket list! 🙂
Goldenfern is pretty, I love the blue on the sample! But the other projects are amazing, that brown one on the project page 😍. 830 projects means that you're not alone in your favorite pick 🙂.
love your cardigans the colors in the radvent look so nice together and of course I'm just plain jealous of your voyagers 🙂, the colorwork sweaters look very nice I just wish that designers would make some more raglan colorwork sweaters they always seem to fit me better
It's an interesting point about color work not being as common in raglan sweaters. I bet the increases are easier to figure out with a circular yoke. Jennifer Beale has a beautiful one called St. John's that's a raglan. It's a tunic, but it would be gorgeous any length. I did start to wonder how a Ravelry search would look returning raglan with either stranded or mosiac and this was my starting point: www.ravelry.com/patterns/search#pa=raglan-sleeve%2Bstranded%7Cmosaic&sort=created&view=captioned_thumbs I didn't exclude certain things I could have taken away, but it's a great way to see raglan specifically. There's one called Stained Glass Sweater by Amy Gunderson, it is gorgeous 😍
I love the colours in the cardigan you are wearing. Well done! I have knit several Jennifer Steingass sweaters. We'll written patterns and the colourwork is so fun!
I recommend it if you want to try sideways sweater construction. It's a great way to use mini skeins (vertical stripes!) or use variegated yarn in fun ways. It's harder to find sideways sweater construction, so I found it to be a good base to get some numbers and modify on my own 🙂. I am excited to see your first sweater, please tag me if you post it anywhere that I can see!
Love how you added the zip to your cardi! Beautiful knits- and I had to go straight away and buy the lovely flower covered hat pattern, Once Upon a Rhinebeck 😃
Thank you so much for your kind words! Once Upon a Rhinebeck is a fun knit, I am thinking about making another one after this. The crown color work is so pretty and I'd love to try a color changing yarn for the flowers 🙂
The sweater you have on is so pretty, amazing how you modified it. I love zippers but have never tried putting them on. My mother always sewed buttons on a ribbon backing and did a double strand? for the button holes. I wish I had kept the ones she made but they started being too itchy so I gave them away. 😢
Ribbons make life so much easier when they're used as backing. Zippers aren't so bad, I think they're more work than buttons, but it's always been worth it for me. I wish I had some of the socks that my great Aunt made. She was the only knitter I had in my family, but she was gone before I was a crafter myself. I bet your Mom's sweaters are loved where ever they ended up 🙂 ❤️
Your Radvent looks gorgeous ! I was wondering; did you put any fabric behind the zipper ? As I made one cardigan with a zipper, but find it quite scratchy at the neck, where the zipper ends.. You have quite some knitting to do for Christmas then... I hope your children aren't too big yet 😉 I've knit one pattern by Steingass, the Starfall sweater. It was my first colourwork sweater and knit bottom up, which made it harder for me to get the sizing right by trying it on. So I ended up gifting it to a coworker, who is a wee bit smaller than I am.. The Mabon sweater caught my eye as well. Mortensen has some beautiful designs !
I've always put ribbon behind the zipper instead of fabric. Just some satin ribbon that is wide enough to go over the top of the backing. It's soft enough and I don't have to worry about cutting it to the correct size or any fraying. My kiddos sizes are still doable before Christmas, maybe! 😂 That Starfall sweater is very classic and sweet. Your coworker is a lucky person, I bet they cherish that gift 🙂
Gorgeous knits as always. I'm impressed by the zip. I'm assuming you used a sewing machine? I don't have one. I've currently got a cardigan that is waiting for me to sew on the buttons 😬 so I'll be interested in any comments here! I doubt I would button it up anyway xx
Thank you! The zipper was hand sewn in. I've actually done all of the ones I've put in by hand. No sewing machine here 🙂. I generally button the cardigans up, I just feel like it's easier to keep them closed with a zipper. Buttons come undone easier as you're moving about 😅
