It is a beauty That's the way to go. To save humanity from imminent danger - adverse weather conditions caused by human activities.

Can someone answer a question from Logan City please. Does the area surrounding the plant smell at all or produce noxious fumes or gases that have a burn smell or rotten egg smell or poop smell?

Biosolids gasification does not produce any odours or any harmful air emissions. Exhaust gases from the gasification process pass through a wet scrubber and an electrostatic precipitator to capture any particulates before clean air is released from the stack. Logan Water continuously monitors and reports on emissions to the Department of Environment and Science. The product produced using gasification, called biochar, does not have any odour.

Yes it does!! I work in the Loganholme industrial area and it absolutely stinks!! I have complained to the council a couple of times now and sadly I don’t think it will be taking seriously. Definitely toxic. The smell is constant and seems to coincide with opening of the gasification facility. Surely not good for our health and is not good for our business when we have customers come to our workshop/office. I’ve even been able to smell it 3km away at my daughters daycare centre.

How do you maintain an inert atmosphere for pyrolysis?
@nephos100
@nephos100 2 года назад
Do you mean 'have combustion with little or no oxygen'?
@HarukoIchikawaSakushinshuu
@HarukoIchikawaSakushinshuu 2 года назад
@@nephos100 Yeah, because pyrolysis is the decomposition of material under heat with no oxygen, as that would result in combustion which produces carbon dioxide. I was wondering whether they either pump in an inert gas like nitrogen or create a vacuum. Because the 'greeness' of this process requires that no/little carbon dioxide is produced.

@@HarukoIchikawaSakushinshuu You will have to ask them. I suppose carbon capture is the name of the game.

The gasification process is different to pyrolysis or incineration. Incineration uses more oxygen in the heating process than gasification, and it produces ash as the product. Pyrolysis uses no oxygen in the heating process and produces biochar, biogas and a bio-oil/liquid as the products. Hope that helps!
