We visit From Software in Tokyo to see how Bloodborne devs iterated on the framework established by Demon's and Dark Souls. Watch part 2 here: • Making Bloodborne: Par...
@@supernatural9r406 and why? The game has a distinct visual style and tone, Impeccable area design and a masterpiece ost. Amazing systems and mechanics, great characters....its a perfect game bud.
It's cool how they mention that it's about the fear of the unknown without spoiling any of the Lovecraft elements in the game. Very carefully thought out interviews.
Yeah, knowing the developer actually is so passionate about it ( not the case with 80% of the AAA-games *looking at call of duty and battlefield) makes it much easier to actually spend 60 bucks on it
aresdotexe Interesting, I see what you said (on his computer). There's definitely parrying available with the guns - you shoot the enemy at the same time as you have parried with a shield - but perhaps (as there are now shields confirmed) that's what the animation was for?
DaveControlLive Come to think of it though, it could be a weapon similar to the Warped Twinblades, that starts as one weapon in your right hand, then splits into two, and the L2 special is a parry, unlike the Warped Twindblade's attacking backstep.
Japanese game developers, in my eyes, seem to be a lot more mindful about the development for the game and they really tend to focus on what the community likes.
These guys seem so honest and I can feel what they are trying to tell me. I feel like they are a bit more humble about their game. Not just telling us "its gana be great, dont worry about it".
That's because they're more than simple "programmers." They're artists (and japanese artist for that matter). They've more knowledge and soul than any american developer could ever imagine. Thanks to people like this game are still relevant. Americans only make putrid garbage
Humes san Although I agree that FS are artists, those Americans you're talking about include people like Bethesda, their work being far from putrid garbage in my opinion.
Remove the shitty camera glitches, make Laurence hit less hard, fix the hitbox of the dog in the defiled chalice, fix the input delay within the dodge button, then you got the best anime game that was mistaken as a game made in the west due to amazing English voice acting.
These people are absolute masters of their craft and they should not only produce their games but also write a textbook on the subject for students learning the craft. I'm awe struck by their ability to continuously pump out masterpiece after masterpiece with each one better than the last.
the dlc gives you a good idea of what Gehrman is up to. They could go in MORE detail but not enough there id say. These guys make some excellent stories, so lets just hope for something new (a sequel, or something else)
Its cool how they only mentioned Demons Souls as their inspiration. From Software has now become one of my favorite Japanese developers. I'll put them right along side all the awesome old school guys like Konami, Capcom, Hudson Soft, Enix, Squaresoft, Cave, Treasure, and Nintendo.
"Its cool how they only mentioned Demons Souls as their inspiration." I don't really understand why they do that. There's no way that they made this game while pretending that they didn't make Dark Souls.
ShredST Demon Souls all and all is better than dark souls, i still remember each fight and each level design of it.. it was more gloomy and dark.. Dark Souls is just meh compared to demons tbh
Bloodborne looks really good and I'm convinced to buy it not to mention all these fanboys hating in the comments (zack morris, carlosjc1984 etc) it just gives me another reason to want the game. When a game can bring out the jealousy and hatred in fanboys chances are they know how good it'll be.
I love the idea of on your toes combat! I like it when they say "If you just sit back you will be overwhelmed." I see some of the comparisons to dark souls, but this is it's own game. In dark souls you are discouraged to attack, and you most sit back an wait for an opening. In this game you are encouraged to attack, and that makes it more exciting to play for me. Love it! Can't wait!
Goddang I'm excited for this game. Also these interview type of videos with developers are interesting. It's fun to see the people behind these games talk. It's kinda magical in a way.
It's nice to see that From Software understands that difficulty in a game is to give the player a feeling of accomplishment when they over come the challenge, and that just shows how ignorant all the casuals in the gaming press are when they say masochistic difficulty, they are trying to denigrate both players and developers because of their own weakness's and inadequacies.
carlosjc1984 So you start a comment chain hating on Bloodborne and then get salty when someone else has something good to say? butthurt at it's finest stfu.
The one game to rule them all. Other devs quit their jobs and become busdrivers when they see how games can be. Some might think they just see some hack'n slash and boy are they wrong.
This game was my introduction to Soulsborne games and has remained my favorite game of all time ever since. I just don't find the same level of enjoyment in playing any other kind of game, though currently enjoying Demon's Souls on PS5 where it all started :)
I'm really looking forward to experiencing this game. I played Dark Souls for about 12 hours on the PC and really liked it but I'd already seen most of it through videos on RU-vid. I think playing this without knowing anything will be a lot of fun.
As i love games with loads of items to collect I cant wait too see what weapons are in the game and obviously the armour(well clothes in this case) not long to go people!
I like how in this video, we can't see the Japanese developers using any iMac unlike most western developers. They know how overrated the Apple's product is and decide not to use it. Great developers doesn't use stupid hardware. Kudos!
I've never seen a major developer using Apple hardware. Essentially all of it is underpowered and overpriced compared to what you can get when buying your own hardware so it's simply impractical for game development.
Out of all the games that Miyazaki made.....I think he was proud of bloodborne the most because he completely changed the game play mechanics.a faster, more aggressive and non-shield world.
I've never played as Soul's game, in fact, I tried one and hated it.... But right now I'm on my second playthrough of Bloodborne and I can't get enough... it's just so damn good!!!
Simplesmente um dos melhores jogos que já joguei em toda minha vida, por sinal ainda estou jogando muito obrigado From Software,Japan Estudio e Sony...
It's funny how when Dark Souls was multi-platform no one was talking shit about but now that it's PS4 exclusive pc and Xbox fangirls trying to hate on it and act like it's not good lmfao if it was Multi-platform they wouldn't haha
I never really thought ppl took an interest in dark souls until later on. Now that sony has a copy of dark souls sony fanboys are hyping it. That's the way I see it.
The Sanctuary being burned down gets me excited. I hope theres some penalty if you take to long to kill a boss like if theres some boss thats like "he spreads the curse" or something then he actually will the longer you take to get to him, then he'll add more enemies or something
I love honest they are about the game. One guy saying (I'm paraphrasing), "the overall mechanic of the game hasn't really changed from the soul series, except we have more memory intake so better graphics."
I'm really glad Demon's Souls is the main inspiration and representation for this title, instead of just Dark Souls. Demon's Souls is what got me into this series, and I've been with it ever since. It's a nostalgic game, and I would love to have another game like its atmosphere and uniqueness. Looks like Bloodborne is going back to the roots of this franchise. Even to the point of PlayStation exclusivity. It has Demon's Souls atmosphere and inspiration, and Dark Souls level design. A perfect combination, I must say. It was quite the opposite with Dark Souls II, where Demon's Souls was the level design inspiration, and the atmosphere was that of Dark Souls. But, that was a different director and development team in From Software, so, I blame them. :P
Wow, this is the first video in a long time of Japanese developers actually saying things I can relate to. As is so often, I feel like Japanese people say a lot of weird things that make me scratch my head, especially Nintendo developers, but these people sound super smart.
Damn you From Software ! yet again i have to buy a console because of you. First it was PS3 Because of Demon's Souls and now PS4 because of Bloodborne.
A world full of fabric, which could possibly mean that there will be no armor (the bulky type perhaps) As a guy who always goes for the rogue/hunter/strider/assassin type, this excites me even more.
This game is still a mystery to me. A confusing love/hate relationship. I'd love to see a more in-depth documentary on the Game Design choices, vs thematic art direction.
+Winter is cumming. That work incredibly well together. Think about this for a second. One builds the world. The other writes a story within that world. A masterpiece is made and no creative toes are stepped on in the process. Creative work is (of course) never this simple but it's been done before and can be done again.
Have been playing Castlevania Symphony of the night recently and just thinking how could a remake would be done FromSoftware in the style of bloodborne 😍
I think it has more to do with the style they chose for the game, demons souls, is quite a gory game for instance, while dark souls is more about decay, and aged beings and places. Now, all of their games are very close to their kings field series, but essentially, dark souls is more like kings field in art direction, while demons souls is more like their shadow tower series in art direction. That is likely the reason.
I still think it's a little weird. I know Demon's Souls was successful by itself, but I've always considered Dark Souls to be slightly bigger than Demon's Souls. I mean, it did get a proper sequel and all. But maybe they're trying to separate the two, with Scholar of the First Sin coming out this year, too.
Rain I think part of it has to do with Miyazaki partnering with Sony like when Demons Souls was developed. I suspect when Dark Souls II was being developed by the new project leader, Miyazaki took a separate part of Fromsoftwares' team in conjunction with Sony to develop what he described as a "secret project" back in the day that has now been revealed as Bloodborne. Who knows though? Could be a lot of reasons. Or maybe we're just looking into it too much.
This is the best game of all time , Bought it about 4 months ago and never has a day gone by that i didn't play it or think about it.Its good that i bought PS4 , should have been multi-platform though. But this game is so good that people are buying ps4 just to play it.
I think it's funny that they just completely avoid talking about dark souls at all. "Oh dark souls? It's only the most popular game we ever made that hundreds of thousands if not millions of people play, but that game's not important! Demon's Souls! Demon's Souls!" Lol
