I have this tip that I just discovered and LOVE IT. So when my cat is relaxed I start rubbing my face all over her face, ears, and forehead, just like the mum does it. I swear that he doesn't only calm down instantly but also purrrs like crazy. And I obviously MELT!
Same with mine he always wants to be with me but he doesn't let me touch him... only when i come home or he wakes up, but he touches me all the time walks over me jumps up on my, or tries to catch my feet but me touching him biiig NO NO....
I figured out the reason why my cat hates me: I always look him in the eyes, meow at him, then start chattering so he’ll start meowing and chattering too and then he attacks me. I also scare him a lot. Mostly on accident.
I have a kitten and my boyfriends sisters little kids have messed with her too much, I’m trying to get her to associate hands with love but she keeps grabbing at my hands and biting and I want to reverse the damage they’ve caused I want a sweet kitty:( (Edit: She’s such a sweet kitty now and we have taught the kids how to behave around her the improvement is amazing thank you everyone who replied!❤️)
Ellie XoX you’re going to have to let them know to be gentle and be quiet around her. if they’re around them make a rule to let her be for a reward, can be a fun snack or anything.
during kittenhood, many kittens will attack (grab and bite) hands because they think that it's a play toy. I learned that if they start biting or grabbing your hand, just bring out a toy and take their energy out on the toy instead of your hand and then they will stop attacking your hand after a while.
Gracie always comes when I call her. I say " there you are" letting her know I am delighted to see her. She is rewarded by food, treats , playing with toys or petting. Her choice. Always her choice. We sit on the porch at night. Our special time to bond. Sing to her, talk to her. She lets me cover her with a light blanket. Gracie was a stray tiny kitten and was scared and hungry. She owns my heart.
My rescue adopted us about 3 months ago and the vet thinks he’s about 2 years old. He’s probably not going to be a cuddle bug, which sucks because he’s adorable but he just prefers to be in the room with us instead of cuddling. He usually will only get on you if it’s 8pm and he wants his nightly squeeze up treat then he’s a total suck-up. He also likes to join anyone for his chance to get out to our screened in porch. He’s just I’m a beautiful ginger with an independent as lightening streak personality I guess.
I have one cat that cuddles me lots. The other cat jumps on me gets a few pets and leaves. He follows me or other people around the house from room to room. He usually wants to be with people just a few feet away.... He used to sit on people's laps but now he rarely does...
@@sbc129 No. But he's back to sitting on my lap again. He had an owwie on his booty (at the base of his tail) and had to have antibiotics and warm compresses. We bonded during that time. He was super lovey on pain medication. Now he's back to cuddling with my other cat almost daily in the afternoons on my bed and then they take turns on my lap in the evening when I am relaxing on the couch.
We also need to understand that the human's understanding of love and affection which involves physical touch etc may not always be the version of love from a cat. Some cats who are actually very independent could love and respect their owner but just may not prefer physical touch. They might think of you as their pack and love you just the same
Me and my brother have been persuading my mum to get a cat and she is literally on the edge of saying yes.... Me: watching cat videos to learn about them even more... Also me: walks around the house practicing slow blinking to myself 😂
I understand cats too flipping much :3 wish I could meet yours. Mine is pure black his name is Midnight. Also to know the cat has your trust it will gaze into your eyes. I am like a cat whisperer. Talk softly to your cat
I’ve been doing some research as to why my cat doesn’t cuddle and how I can try to convince him to cuddle more and it’s hopeless. He’s a good cat, and I’m always calm and gentle with him. He’s also extremely tolerant and will let me hold him for a bit and he doesn’t mind pets virtually anywhere. Everything is right. I’ve boiled it down to simply being his personality. Even as a kitten he’s never been cuddly. He’s very affectionate, in his own unique way. He’s just not really physically affectionate. He has a distant personality. I accept that and respect his boundaries. I still wish he’d cuddle sometimes tho
“Cats like company” My cat hates everyone he doesn’t like cuddles he when you try and pet him he often walks away he only rubs around our legs when he wants food I really wish he’d be super cuddley like our previous cat
this was one of the best, most informative videos ive seen, and ive seen a lot!!! My cat has been with me for 7 months now (she's 1 years old) and as a kitten, used to be a lap cat, but not anymore. Im definitely going to try the treat\kibble thing. she often just takes the treat and runs away. Hopefully with more persistence it will get better
My cat is so confusing he loves me but attacks me so this night he jumped on my bed and scratched, scratched scratched bite bite bite my leg BUT THEEEN HE CALLED ME TO CUDDLE HIM
Pin him to the bed!? I can understand putting the cat in the same room as u. But pinning it down is a whole new level :/ But you can still bond with it.
children don't necessarily know how to handle a cat. I for sure didn't and used to chase and grab the family kitty. She didn't hold a grudge though and our bond never really suffered from it. I also know for sure cats that would feel so betrayed they'd lash out and run away for good in the same situation. So i guess what's important is to prove them they can trust you and never make them hurt again
We have a family cat and I have three young siblings who are constantly being to loud and “aggressively friendly” to him in my opinion. They have “trained” him to feel trapped when they are with him and that they won’t let him relax no matter what I tell them. So know he only likes being away from them, he is very sweet and relaxed when Me or my dad are alone with him but when my siblings are around he’s in “murder mode” as my siblings call it, they say he just needs to be outside all the time to get rid of energy and that he is just mean but he’s not! He does like being outside but I’m not sure if that’s just to escape the kids or because he really prefers it, cuz he wasn’t like that as a kitten and it seems more like a learned behavior or just a stress reaction to me
I have a feral kitten and they are not socialised we give them love but they get scared my kittens fur colour is tabby and a little bit of white they sneeze a lot and lick thereselfs a lot. Thanks for the help now I now know better I will use these tips now😊
Don't touch a cats stomach... my 3 cats make it clear that they absolutely love their stomachs being rubbed, its the final checkpoint to show your cats love towards you in my opinion
Thank you for the hints on how to treat a new cat. I lost my 16 year old cat a little more than five years ago. I want to be the best Mom that I can be.
I have three cats, and all respond differently to cuddles. My oldest cat is a real lap cat and comes to snuggle with me frequently and loves for me to pet her. I also have a Bengal who cuddles on her own terms 😸mostly at night under the covers. My third cat is new to my household so still not visiting my lap but loves for me to pet her otherwise
@@eileentorres318 they're not easier to take care of but if you're looking for an animal that will be affectionate a dog is way better. Your almost certainly not gonna have to do all this work
I've had my cat since 2019 when he was 3 months old. And be hates me. He doesn't ever come to be pet. He doesn't ever want attention. He hates when I even look at him. And he won't ever want to be held.
I will be getting two 6 week old kittens. If I keep playing with them and show them affection, will they grow up lovable? Is it easier to start when they are young.
@@fernpear4789 soo true!! i had 4-week kitten, it was a nightmare. i found it on the street, now its 3 month but the biting and scratching is too much.
My cat is really friendly with me and she often throws her head into me, she does the kiss blind back :) and sleeps on my bed when I'm not home too, she hangs out with me a lot but she doesn't cuddle with me and jumps off when I pick her up
Good advice. Try petting your cat slower. Cats like you to quietly talk to them. In the shelter we read or talk to traumatized cats at first. Cats also do not like loud environments. Good luck.
My cat stares at me for long period of time. She don’t like to be pet . But I know she loves the hell out of me. But she won’t get closer than 3 feet from me. I can only pet when she’s on cat tree and loves it. Holding is not happening at all. We go out on front porch but no further. She won’t leave . Just wished she would hangout a little closer.
Wouldn't letting a cat while it's sleeping be betrayal of trust? If it doesn't accept pets when awake, but you fuss them when asleep, waking up to find you fusing on them wouldn't it be upsetting and frightening for them
Me and my cat are very close she is a bengal and the problem I have is she doesn’t like to be held and she doesn’t liked being picked up but she will play with me lick me when she hurts me she bathes me constantly follows me can sit and go to an area on command she has to be in the same room as me and she will slow blink whenever she locks eyes before I even can but i need her to like water more so she can bathe easier and to snuggle more but she does let me snuggle her kiss her and she is good
My cat Ginger Beans likes being held in a blanket like a burrito. He brings me his favorite blanket to wrap him up. He falls asleep in my arms while we have kitty burrito time at least twice a day. I never force him to do anything. He's a smart being and he gets into dangerous situations if I don't pay attention to him. Having a cat is like having a permanent two year old child. I baby proofed my apartment before I brought a cat in. Also, my cat set's for treat's. I wasn't aware I was training him until he started setting for treat's every time I offered a treat. I play for five to ten hours a day with my cat. I am handicapped and unemployed. I have time for him. He sleeps all night because I play with him and feed him before bedtime. 8 PM is dinner time for my cat, 8 am and 12 pm is breakfast and lunch. He eats three cans of food and he has a bowl of dry food he can eat any time he chooses. He won't eat anymore if I try giving him extra. I only give him what he eats. He loves water, so I have bath toys that he plays with in the sink with the water on. He'd rather bathe in the sink than be stuck in the window all day. I am going to get him a kidy pool and put water in it and see what he does. I can use it for a pool and sandbox. He does like to dig in his dry food and litter. I think if I train him to use the sandbox for digging he will stop making misses with his food. 👍❤️
My cat Henry loves his play tunnel, he will come to me sometimes and run ahead of me if I’m heading towards the lounge where his toys are. His favourite is his tunnel and he likes me waving a wand with a big tail on it, he goes to the far end of the tunnel and I wave the wand at the other,… his little bum starts to quiver before he pounces through the tunnel. I call this him “revving up” so cute xx
This was very helpful actually. My cat already likes pets but hates being on my lap or on my chest, probably from trauma from his previous owner. I'll try the treats and hopefully eventually he will be a lap cat!
IDK what happend to my poor cat in the past, she really loves getting tocuehd but as soon I open the blanket to invite her under it, she instantly paniks and runs away. PTSD is my guess.
The kitten I’m getting loves attention and being held. As she gets older, will she still like that if I keep doing it? Also I’ll definitely make sure to get feather toys and stuff for her to play with
I want to ask you about feeding raw meat to a cat; I purchased some reading material about the care of a cat from this homepathy person- her name is Madeline Innocence and she said that we should stop feeding our cats the food out of the store and go get organic raw chicken wings and crush it up and feed them the bones and the raw meat off of the chicken, then I hear from a pod cast that "feeding a cat raw meat could make them sick" I am confused- What should I do!!! I don't want to make my cat sick by taking Madeline Innocence's advice. What should I do! 😥😪- just hope that I have not contributed to making my cat sick. Please help me.😭
it is not possible to train all cats to be cuddly effectionate. We have a 4 year old and she has very ferral tendencies dispite being rescued at 4 weeks. It is just in her dna. I work for shelters and due to so many social media post and videos showing only the best attributes of kittens and cats is misleading and results in adopted cats being returned because the kitty is not behaving like all the popular post . This needs to be emphasised and also cats need to be met where they are and we should love them for whom they are and not try to change them when not receptive. Just love them as they are.
So i got an kitten and in the car she was very comfortable, she slept on my lap. When we got home she was really tense and even hissed at me. Should i give her some space to get more comfortable? Or play with her, like bonding time. Or both i dont know😅
Yes, she just needs to get comfortable to the new space, you know, there's new scents, new space, be around and she'll slowly accept you in no time, best of luck ❤️
can anyone tell me how to bond w my 7 y/o cat when she already gets super stressed out when i bring her to my room? im 16 and have her since she was a kitten… once she is in my room she often meows and wants to go so i bring her back to the kitchen and there she wants to come upstairs… she also does not eat w our other 3 cats and is very anxious and nervous in general and she usually hides and sleepers the whole day on some chair… what can i do for her?
This video was so insightful. My sister will purposely hold our cat and make her growl and squirm and not let her go and we will stare into our cat thinking her punching Is olay. I definitely want an affectionate cat
I swear we have the same to cats no joke my male cat is black and white and my female cat is the same color as ur color cat now my male cat will not let me hold him but always runs my legs he follows me around he was abuse as a small baby cat not sure what all was done to him but I believe he was hit buy a broom because every time I sweep my kitchen floor hear jets under a table or runs and hide so I know that make it make me so upset and sad to see him like I would lose my mind if I ever see any one hurting an aminle or a person now with that info is there a way for my male to trust me his has been with us for almost a year now my female I can hold her like a baby she loves rubs and he hugs me like a person huge now I would love for my male to do that but I know he is not ready for that I just want him to feel confident and not scared when I pick him up I try my hardest two not but he is so cute and I love him so much so please if u can let me know what I may be doing wrong i am a loud person i walk heavy my TV is loud I vacuum like two times a day because my female hair is two much for my husband so not sure if me being loud he is why he will not let me hold him
My boy hates me, what u re saying doesnt work atall.. he just dont like to be around me,maybe just when he is hungry, just then he comes to me for peting, in the rest of the time he is just away from me..all the time..on the fridge, under my bed but not around me and i never hited him or hug him to tight.. i love him very much but he is just distant :/
@@goldenphoenixnaruto he is not hiding because is afraid, he doesnt like to be around people.. he behaves with me like im his majordomo..he comes just when is hungry.. he is driving me crazy already.. my boyfriend likes him anyway so im stuck with a cat that doesnt like to be loved -_- I want to give him away to an other family so bad, ghhh..
@@ramonamihaela9182 it's not about you, it's about the cat. He does sound scared in her environment. Did you get him as a kitten or adult? How long have you had him? How many homes had he had? In extreme cases it can take weeks or months to adjust. Get him a nice enclosed cat bed so she can hide and make sure it's quiet and a place he can always get to. Play with him. Get catnip toys and toss them a short distance so he feels safe not to stray from his safe place. Be patient and remember it's about him and not you. Also I will add take him to the vet and make sure he does not have a underlying health condition. He could actually just be sick and have a heart problem or maybe a thyroid imbalance. All those things can make you miserable and not want to do anything and he could be hiding out of pain. If you hate him them please give him to someone who cares enough to take his feelings and health into consideration. When you got him it was to give him a permanent home and a life long commitment. Just because it's not all sunshine and rainbows and not how you thought it would be does not mean you take it out on him.
