fun fact! There is no such thing as hell in Greek mythology, Hades is god of the dead and ruler of well, Hades, which is what the underworld itself is called! It is divided into 3 sections depending on how heroic/well doing a person was so they got in the corresponding section of the underworld after passing

Awesome Cerberus! The horns came out great! Tip(s): pre bake the teeth before you go to put them on the doll. When it's hardened, the teeth will poke right into the gum line. As for painting around them, USE TAPE!!! Tape all those teeth before u paint the inside of the mouth. Remove the tape when the paint is varnished and dried!

I love using the pre baking method, and paired with translucent clay it's beautiful! Do be careful not to bake them too much if you're going to cook the raw head with the teeth. That way they don't overbake and look crusty (that does depend on the clay though).

I like to think each head has a different name and and personality: The more calm head I like to call Oliver, and I like to think he has a more caring personality than the other two (I also feel like either way he’d still fight you but he’s more nice) The Snarling head I like to call Henry and I think he would just be your average hell hound who’s kinda a jerk. Then the one with its mouth open I like to call Maximus. The head gives off total crackhead vibes and I feel like he’s the one that tries to go full of chaos on his victims.

Even though Halloween is over Cerberus still came out incredible, Hextian has Hades with a Cerberus staff while you have the three headed hell hound, so think of it as a Halloween mythology collab. Ceberus looks like he is in his Ultimate Raging inferno form. I can't even imagine if Hextian tried repainting Pegasus from Hercules. Keep up the great work. :)

Why do you do the painting after you attach the pieces as opposed to before? Thanks for all your sharing and encouragement!!!

having watched a lot of sculptures (though sadly i haven’t quite been brave enough to try), the wires just go straight into the head and the feet are built onto the wire, typically. for extra strength you can add glue. if you’re worried about the doll being dropped, consider making the clay parts from a material that has some give even after baking/forming it (such as sculpey bake-and-bend or the thermoplastic pellets kaypea uses) painting is done after to avoid scratches when putting everything together (especially if you are using bake clay to attach parts together, baking your paint job is probably not ideal) depending on how you put things together and how careful you are with your needle while sewing, you can probably get away with painting first, but it’s just not necessary. as long as you trim the fur and are careful with the paint, painting after won’t cause any issues. also i know kaypea has brought this up before, but if you use glass for the eyes you can paint underneath them/on the back of the cabochons for a 3D look and any facial paint that gets on them you can just scrape off. acrylic paint will pop right off of glass. painting eyes on the “sphere” is also an option as seen in this video.

I love how the two on the sides are wild and bloodthirsty while the one in the middle looks sweet and cute. Great work! It is always amusing when I see an artist of your caliber talking about something they find difficult because you seem to handle it so well. It is nice to know I'm not the only one who has some specific sculpting area that is just a wall to climb over every time. :-) For me, I always like doing teeth, but hate noses. You could try making teeth ahead of time, as placing hardened teeth in gums is so much easier, at least on some sculpts. Thanks for the channel, it is wonderful to watch your work.

With my experience, the air dry clay never works for me. It's difficult to use. But everyone uses different things. It's spongy kinda. Like hard to sculpt. But there are different brands so try a few out.

Quick question- I know I'm a bit late to watch his video, but... Have you ever made an art doll with a moving jaw? I'm currently trying to make my own wendigo character, and she tries to blend in with the humans by lip-syncing (No matter how ineffective it is), so the moving jaw is a major part of her character as a whole. Especially since I plan on working with stop-motion animation. I was just wondering if you would know how to keep the jaw shut, while also allowing it to be opened if need be.

I would suggest not cutting fur like that, you do you im just suggesting for long fur you might not want to cut like that if you want the long fur look. It also makes less mess 8f you use a exacto knife on the back side of the fur, still makes. A mess but way less just depends on what creature your making

Have you heard of masking fluid? It might be more effort than it's worth for something like teeth but you can use it to protect a surface from paint. It dries to a sort of rubbery texture and when you're done you just pull it off, and any unwanted paint stuck to it will come off with it. I would test it out on various materials before using it to finish a doll, though.

Yes I have!! I really wish I had gotten some or liquid latex as they would of been perfect for covering the teeth I’ll definitely have to get some for future projects!

I'd like to think that they use the openings in their sides to breath as fire needs oxygen to stay alive, so they use the openings like vents to fan the flams so to speak
