Thinking on it more, adding in an ombre dye that's darker on the bottom, lighter on the top is pretty genius. It would help add to the illusion of a tinier waist bc the darker color would work sork of like a contour and the lighter as a highlight, which would visually underscore the contrast. Great catch on that, your eyes are so sharp!
I don't why, but the idea of this dress being too big and floofy to film within the confines of your sewing room makes me smile. Congratulations on finishing a dream project!
So very much agree, wasn't a fan of the butterflies on the original, but yours are amazing! Looking forward to the "get ready with me" so we can see all of those gorgeous layers together!!!
I love the combination of being so so painstakingly and specifically accurate and then you making a few intentional decisions to make it something you personally will love, putting your preferred butterflies and a neckline you feel happier in makes it *your* dress in such a lovely way.
great minds, except that i was wanting one to wear dancing. i love the idea of twirling across the dance floor wearing skirts that flow like silvery water.
This dress was a huge success !! Looks exactly alike ! I mean wow , I've loved every part of this journey . I especially loved those little handmade butterflies , I might try them for a smaller scale sewing project in the near future .
Wow. I feel like we’ve birthed a child together. The final product is stunning. It is a work of art. You should be very proud and I hope you feel accomplished. You have made me fall in love with this dress all over again and really see how complicated and special it really was. This has been a wonderful journey and I can’t wait to see the video of you dancing in this gorgeous garment.
I seriously feel sad that this series is ending :( what will be the next amazing project?! do you have any idea?! any more princesses? I absolutely love the dress and you look amazing in it. I jumped into this moving train in somewhere middle of it and I was really surprised on how lovely the dress looks so I kept watching you for your lovely craft and nice jokes and now I am so sad this ended. Another happy ending.
Honestly, I think you improved the bodice & bertha. I'm not a fan of the butterflies at all and you made them work! I also like the higher neckline, looks really good.
Agreed. The butterflies look much nicer on Bella’s dress than on the original. It’s also my least favourite part of the costume, but she made the work in a way they didn’t in the original. Why movie studios haven’t hired her as their costumer, I don’t know.
the ombre makes so much sense. it makes the waist look even tinier. paired with the many skirts, and the corset. That's why her waist looked so so tiny
The INCREDIBLE amount of work and effort you've put into this amazing project is paying off!!! It looks EXACTLY like the original dress!! It's beautiful!
I graduate from High School today and this honestly was the best thing I could have asked for. Your videos constantly inspire me, pushing me through happy, sad, and mediocre weeks as they have for the past year. I wish you all the best in your future endeavors. The dress looks amazing!
✨It was really just so incredible to see your whole process, your many mock-ups, your fit corrections, the seemingly endless yards of fabric, just everything! The final piece is absolutely beautiful and it’s been so magical to see your journey. Thank you so much for sharing it with all of us and taking us along.🦋☺️
I'm just amazed you were able to do what originally took a whole team of professionals with a Hollywood sized budget hundreds of hours to do, and you did it all by yourself. No, it wasn't fast, cheap, or easy, but it's exquisite.
Is it weird to say that I’m proud but also low key just a tiny bit jealous at the same time?😅 More than anything, it’s just so inspiring to see that-if you’re willing to put in the blood, sweat, tears, and money lol-projects like this CAN be done! CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR 6th & FINAL DRESS🥳. Thank you so much especially for sharing this journey with us (instead of randomly uploading one day to flex like, “so I made this thing~”) that way it’s possible for us to do it too! I kind of hope you keep it, but if you sell it, it needs to be SUPER expensive. You deserve every penny🤗
I am so excited to see the final reveal, every part of this process has been perfection and I can’t wait to see the full finished look! So proud of you, the years of labor, expertise, and ingenuity that went into this recreation are clearly evident. You’re a goddess!!! I really hope that you get to keep this one too, I couldn’t imagine parting with it!
I love watching these videos. And they’re even more fun after seeing the dress in person! Absolutely stunning to see the movement of the fabrics!!!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 All you research has paid off! Your talent amazes me! ☺️
Thank you for the series, it was amazing. I'm not sure if I have been subscribed since the first Cinderella video though. I appreciate the fact that you didn't make the neckline as in the movie because you wouldn't be comfortable in it. That's very nice of you. I also have to say (and I think I've already said it a few months ago) that I'm not a Disney person, so it's very surprising for me that you made me so interested in this project. Btw, the neckline: in my most favourite version of Cinderella (Czechoslovakia-Germany, Three wishes for Cinderella), the dress closes around her neck, which makes her really different from any other young girl at the ball. It shows, in my opinion, the difference in a better than this version, where she is the prettiest girl with the prettiest dress; similar to others, but more beautiful. Don't get me wrong, her personality was great, but the dress didn't show it even though the fairy godmother told her she would do the dress to fit her personality, which was an unnecessary line for me. Of course, there are many reasons why I love the old Czechoslovak Cinderella, such as great intelligent humor, good actors and the fact it was my favourite fairytale since my early childhood, so I'm biased, a lot. Anyway, I wish a very nice day to everyone who made it through this comment😀 and I'm waiting for new projects from you, Bella
This really is the best possible recreation of this dress. I cannot see how anyone could ever tip this- not even you. Though if you wanted to branch out into the Evil Stepmother’s costumes, I would SO be here for that! Honestly, Cate Blanchett’s costumes are my favourite part of the entire movie.
I cant wait to see the reveal. I was in love with this dress the moment I saw it for the first time in theaters and I knew no one would ever do it justice in recreating it but this....this is spectacular!!!! I was going through a rough time when this movie came out so I went by myself to the theater on a friday night and this movie ended up becoming really special to me because it gave me that feeling of magic that I so desperately needed at that point. So to see someone put so much heart and care into something this special to recreate that magical feeling in real life is really incredible to me. Fantastic job!!!! I would kill to have your sewing skills. You're amazing and I can't wait to see what else you create.
the butterflies BLEW MY MIND! this whole thing is simply amazing. I fell down the rabbit hole of your videos thanks to your 1950s dress with Bernadette's advice. You are so fantastic!
@@BellaMaesDesigns I absolutely adore how this dress turned out, very well done! I feel inspired to make my own dress now, not this dress, just one I've been wanting to make for a while now :)
This was an experience. Thank you so much. This brought back my desire to have this gown( but I will make it OG Silver). The ombre Im pretty sure was an optical illusion to make the waist seem even smaller. Hope to see more projecta like this in the future. Maybe Belle?😅
Wow! Your attention to details is way beyond something I could even apprehend. I've learned so much. This is the best recreation of the dress ever!! So pretty
This is amazing! I would not have your patience to make that dress. I love all the little details that you researched and spent time putting into the dress. You can really tell how it payed off.
You crossed the finish line!!! And what an amazing AMAZING accomplishment. I applaud your dedication, your attention to detail, and above all else - your passion.
Bravo! What an amazing creation. The butterflies were never my favorite part of the dress, but the moment you attached them the dress got that Disney magic fairy dust all around it. Amazing design and you are a magician for recreating it so perfectly. I have lived going on this journey with you.
Thank you for putting LOTS of footage of the finished bodice! When I watch sewing videos here on RU-vid, creators never put enough footage of the finished product-and it bothers me so much! So thanks! And also I wanted to say, you are an inspiration to me and the work you put into this project is SOOO ASTOUNDING!! I can’t believe how dedicated you are!!
The amount of patience and attention to detail is just amazing. I would never in a million years have that kind of patience. Amazing work. And you have the perfect shape for this dress.
This is the most beautiful replica of the gown that I've ever seen! The amount of detail and love you put into this project is inspiring. Thank you for explaining the different techniques and stitches you used throughout the project. I learned so much from you that I'm now implementing in my projects, as well. Beautiful work, and can't wait to see the final pictures and videos!
I have been watching from the very beginning and seeing this dress come alive has been something to look forward to through my tough times. This dress is on my to do list, maybe not like how you did it, but it'll definitely help.
Wow, that was a HUGE project, it's even hard to remember the beginning. I've learned a lot following the process, thank you for sharing it! And I love it so much, the dress perfect in every way! And it is soooo beautiful, I can't wait to see the wearing-videos
This is so beautiful. I can't thank you enough for listing out where you got all of the fabric for this project!! I love watching your videos while working on my own stuff.
I can't believe I've been obsessively watching this project go along for seven months - and loving every video! I've learned so much through watching you making things, and this is, as usual, just so beautiful! The attention and care you put into every step really shows through.
This whole process is absolutly breathtaking! The dress is just a dream come true! How determined you are to realize such a beautiful and meticulous work ! Congratulations is not enough!
A hint about getting seams to lay even flatter either on a curve or flat. Once you have pressed the seams open in the back, reverse the fabric, apply a pressing cloth and then repress seams from the front, molding and slightly stretching the seams to fit the contours. They will look almost seamless, definitely smooth. Lovely job. Looking forward to seeing the finished dress, especially the skirt now that you have remodeled the furls.
Bella Mae out here making me want to make the dress from the original Cinderella!! In silver, not blue though... The perfect fit of your bodice is *chef's kiss* 😍😍
Positively dreamy! I am in love with the colors and sparkly shiny-ness! The butterflies you made are incredible! You look absolutely beautiful in it! 😍
This is so, so, so beautiful! It’s almost unbelievable one person alone could make this. It’s been an absolute *delight* following this journey, and I cannot even wait to see what you do in the future! Thank you for taking us along for the ride!! ❤️
What a beautiful skill you have achieved for one so young. My grandmother was a seamstress in a small area in Texas. I can remember her sewing without patterns for ladies in the town.
This turned out so amazing!! I’ve been working on a tea length, 1950sish version and semi following along and your videos have been so helpful!! Thank you!
I have loved seeing this project unfold! You have an incredible gift, @Bella Maes Designs. A someday dream for me would be to meet you and talk about all the artsy crafts (my especial delight).
Congratulation, this is a beautiful piece of creation. What I love about your videos is that you show the entire creating process, the ups and down, the different problem solving ideas, the whole process of trying and succeeding although sometimes you need to re-do some of what you have already done. This is inspirational for everyone, whether a beginner or an accomplished seamstress. Also, I agree , hand sewing is quite therapeutic, although time consuming. But who cares about the time, its the joy of creating something wonderful that matters. :)
A tip from an old sewer, when handstitiching straight lines it helps to anchor the end either by pinning it to something of using a sewing clamp, that way the fabric stays taught and work is quicker.
I love that you said : " Instead of bringing in the previous bodice pattern from my 5 previous cinderella dresses .... I started from scratch... " This is exactely why I loove your videos
Anyone else crying? Been here since the planning and now its the end of the road. The bertha and the butterflies are my most favorite parts. The design is so simple yet so impactful!
this gown is absolutely stunning...more every time i see it! can't wait to see you dancing in it! i'm definitely going to buy the bodice and petticoat patterns...maybe even the hoop skirt pattern, too. thank you so very much, dear bella mae, for making them available to us!
I am consistently impressed with how much work you put into this. I admit, I found the Bertha interesting. I think I just haven't paid much attention to hidden elastic, or what floof, or fancies drape over it. I realize they aren't your favorites, but I do enjoy the butterflies & appreciate knowing their secrets.
