Here's a quick recipe for Cinnamon Apples that I wanted to try out, because there's nothing like this where I live.

Mr. Babatunde, that looks very delicious. It is interesting to hear that there is no recipe of cooking fruits in your country. Glad you enjoyed it.

Sweet potatoes with Cinnamon sounds very nice. But not Irish potatoes...those I don't think would work. If you have pumpkin that would work well I think.

Oh yes, my grandmother made this when I was a child. She also made apple-crumble and apple-pie. Danish style, which means not too sweet. If you serve it as a dessert, make a little whipped cream to put on it.

That looks amazing! I'm going to have to make some now! Also, if you cook down the apples more with brown sugar, white sugar, a little cinnamon, vanilla and cloves (if you have it), you get apple butter to spread on toast if that's something you enjoy. A place I used to work at made that in their kitchen. It is mouth wateringly good. Thanks for sharing the recipes you try out! I'm curious on the potatoes with cinnamon, you should try that.

Yum! I have an apple tree on my allotment and plan to use it to make delicious desserts this year, along with the other fruits I grow.

Cinnamon apples are a favorite in our house. I’ve never tried potatoes with cinnamon but it sounds interesting. Nutmeg in mashed potatoes is very common here and it has a similar taste. As always, I enjoy your perspective and videos. Thanks!

I make these too, they're so good. I usually use brown sugar because it's cheaper, but maple syrup is the best. The idea of doing sweet potatoes like this sounds great. I'm going to try it tonight, thanks! I'll leave making a video about it up to you, though. 😅

Maybe you can try apple crumble. Basically the same thing with the apples, and then you generously crumble/sprinkle on sweet dough. Bake it in an oven for a while and its done. Really fast to make. Flour, sugar, butter for crumble + your apples.

This was one of my favorite things when I was a child. If you can't find maple syrup, sugar works just as well.

In very interested in potatoes being cooked this way! Would love to watch a video of that. I am curious what your wife's opinion of it was?! I think it would be very interesting if you always added her opinion on the food you cook. Thanks Babatunde great video!

@@africa_everyday yay can't wait to watch! I love that she enjoys your cooking! Also I don't want to put pressure on her if she doesn't want to be on the channel. I am just curious about a African woman's opinion on what you cook or talk about as well! ❤️ Super excited for the next video!

You mentioning potatoes whilst cooking with apples made me peckish for some potato salad, as I add chopped fresh apples to mine. I would love to see an Nigerian version of that dish, I'm pretty sure you could use local produce like cassava or sweet potatoes, as there are a thousand varieties around the world.

In my experience, baking/cooking apples is a good way to use apples that are too old to be pleasant to eat directly -- mushy, mealy, wrinkly. Maybe with a rotten spot, cut away generously but trying to use the apple that's still technically edible. I also think it started as a way to preserve apples throughout the winter -- not 'naked' like this, but as some kind of canned preserves. After all, the traditional canning process uses heat to sterilize everything, there's no way to preserve the apple without cooking it a bit, so one might as well lean into the cooked texture, and make it pleasant with spices. Cinnamon and nutmeg were especially common spices in the 18th century in America, and I imagine England etc as well, which is where I *believe* most recipes for apples in baked goods originated? ('as American as apple pie' is a common saying I've heard, in American English, but it's wrong, lol.)

Here's an old-fashioned dessert you might like-Bird's Nest 1 stick Butter(1/2 cup) 1 cup Sugar 1 3/4 cup All Purpose Flour divided 2 1/4 tsp Baking Powder 3/4 tsp Salt 1 1/2 cup Milk 5 small Apples 1 1/2 cup Brown Sugar 2 tsp Cinnamon 1/4 tsp Nutmeg Preheat oven to moderate(350 F) Place butter in baking dish and place in oven until melted. Remove from oven and set aside. Core, peel and slice apples and place in large bowl. Add 1/4 cup flour, brown sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg to apples. Mix until well coated. In another large bowl, whisk together remaining flour, sugar, baking powder and salt until blended. Pour in milk slowly while whisking Pour batter into baking dish over melted butter. Pour apple mixture over batter. Bake 45-50 minutes until golden brown.

You may want to try adding less water for a more intense apple flavour. In some recipes water isn’t added and the apple cooks in its own juices (if you put a lid on top), meaning more of an apple flavour.

Options to add if you have. Nutmeg. Cardamon. You also can do butternut squash in apple broth like this. Also good spices for sweet potatoes or pumpkin.
