I head out to one of my favorite camping spots to make coffee, and find a fallen tree which makes finding dry wood for the fire quite easy. I chop down a few branches with the axe and break them apart for pieces small enough for the Bushbox LF wood stove. As the fire gets going the wind picks up and it starts to snow a lot more. The falling snow and the crackling sound from the campfire makes for a quiet and relaxing atmosphere as the blue hour sets in.
It’s been getting colder recently, and this was our first proper snowfall this winter. The snow won’t stay until January, but it’s nice to get some snow here and there. It really makes the landscape brighter in these dark months.
How I make coffee in the outdoors:
The coffee I make is called steeped coffee. I grind the beans at home before I head out (burr grinder on a filter setting), and let them steep in water for four minutes (35 grams / 1.25 oz of coffee beans for 0.5 liters / 17 us fl oz of water). I then stir the coffee to let the grounds sink, and then let it sit another two minutes. I then pour the coffee into the wooden kuksa and enjoy the surrounding nature.
