Just in case anyone is looking and can't find the silicone wrapped wires for this project, look for what's called Cabtyre at your cable/wire supply places. It's rubber/silicone wrapped cable that comes in 14/2 12/2 etc varieties and the internal wires are silicone encased and can be any length you want.

They are PVC coated though. Probably even a bit better electrically (as they are copper) but much less flexible. I personally think the extra hassle is worth it. Turnigy silicone wire is decently cheap from China.

I usually use AWG16 but it depends on the application. I bought it on HobbyKing, I think.

Aren't you supposed to use banana connectors? Sure bullets will fit, but I thought bananas were better for some reason.

@tiftik 6 лет назад
Oh. I just realized that you're saying bullet in the video but actually using banana connectors :)

I always associated banana connectors with the design that uses a split single piece of metal, rather than this multipart design, you might be correct though. English is not my first language and I'll check.

z nudów natrafilem na ten film przegladajac kable silikonowe na google ponieważ robie dosłownie to samo i mam nawet ten sam zasilacz Jak ktos chce polecam zamowic sb kabel siliconowy z firmy piekarz LIG 2,5mm^2 connectory 4mm i 2mm, krokodylki hirshmann ma1 i adapter 2 do 4mm wtedy mozna sb fajnie wymieniac krokodylki np na takie duze odsłonięte zeby np podlaczyc cos co sie nagrzewa if u speak english just read second sentence its cool to have 2mm and 4mm connectors on each end of the cable 2mm plug in crocodilles hirshman ma1 and 2mm to 4mm connector so u can plug crocodiles that use 4mm plug in basically bare ones so you can hook up something that gets hot

I think you are supposed to be crimping instead of soldering
@CodeandSolder
@CodeandSolder 7 лет назад
It all depends. Crimping is important if there is a constant force acting in perpendicular, like in screw terminals. The bullet connectors and crocodile clips I am using are designed for soldering.

Crimping can work great, however without proper crimping tools the result is almost guaranteed to be subpar. I therefore find it better in many cases to solder even connectors that were intended for crimping. It's much easier to make a good solder joint than a good crimp joint.

Soldering is harder to get wrong, true. I feel the need to reiterate tinning wires for long time use in screw terminals (eg. in 3D printers) is a terrible idea. The connection degrades with time and can cause fires.

Yes absolutely, somehow this seems to be a little known fact. For screw or clamp connections, always use ferrules on stranded wires.

te kable silikonowe kupię normalnie w hurtowni eketrycznej?

Ja akurat używam Turnigy bo są bardzo elastyczne ale to nie ma większego znaczenia. Cokolwiek rozsądnej jakości będzie działać.
