Pam, I own the Ankarsrum mixer and if you push the arm toward the center while releasing the knob it will release much easier, and if you add your liquid ingredients first then you can add as much flour as needed instead of exactly what recipe calls for. We all know the humidity influences the amount of flour needed in breads. Just tips I’ve learned while using it. Good job on that bread!
@@MarieG-yr8yr it can handle 21 cups of flour! That’s a lo of bread! 🙂 it’s very robust trustworthy and durable. It’s scrapes the side of the bowl as I mixes it doesn’t walk off the counter. It kneads perfectly every time from doing one loaf to six! Expensive? Yes, but it’s worth every penny. I could go on but that’s enough it’s a one time purchase for sure.
Saw a mennonite gal do her traditional loaves by making a square, folding it into a triangle, then folding again to smaller triangle and then rolling it to tube shape, pinching the dough to seal it and tucking in ends, and i thought, how cool would that look on marbled rye bread! Somebody should try that and let us know...i can't eat gluten anymore, but still love the nostalgia of watching bread being made!
Just downloaded the Book :) Dang I should have waited just a bit, just to excited. Happy Birthday! I'm 70. I make grilled tuna sandwiches with Swiss Cheese, yum Thank you again! I'm impressed your baking in this heat we are having in CO.....
That looks delicious! I can almost taste it. I hope there was enough left for the Reubens by the time Jim got back home (I probably wouldn't have had a lot of self control with warm bread and some butter). Thanks for sharing.
I sure want to try this recipe. I love a good rye bread. I 've been baking, a lot lately, in my bread machine. One day I decided to put all the dry ingredients in jars, after watching more of your video's. I put the wet ingredients into the bread pan and dump in the jar ingredients. It's really saved time and energy. I plan on having my 7 year old granddaughter help make more. We can attach a tag with instruction and the wet ingredients. Then she can take some home. to her mom. (Her mom has a bread machine and being a busy farm mom, could use some time savers. Thank you and your husband for all you do and the inspiration you spread.
Wow did you say your grandfather is 127 years? OMG you are very bless God bless him. And happy birthday to you ALL ❤ Great video thanks for sharing your wonderful recipe
Love it! I just got a couple of items from your Amazon store. I'm looking forward to starting to cook. I will get the rest of the books during the sales. I missed the "Canning classes sales" in July. May you add it as well on the Aug sales??? Thanks❤
I can almost smell it! Lol. I make Rye but use my SD starter instead of yeast. We add some Flaxmeal or seed to ours. Would love to add caraway but I’m the only one who likes it. BooHoo. Lol. Thanks for fun video.
I will definitely be buying your book on the Birthday Bash! Can't wait. I made the air fryer bread & bought the circular pan from your store! It was sooooo good. 😊
August is the best month to have a birthday! My son-in-law's is also the 3rd. My daughter-in-law is the 13th, I'm the 14th, my uncle is the 15th, my nephew is the 16th and my niece is the 17th. So our family has a string of August birthdays, too! Lots of fun! When I make bread I use my old Bosch bread machine, which works similarly to your new machine. It also does the kneading for me. Will definitely give this recipe a try... but not until fall because my house doesn't have AC and I don't like to bake in the summer heat. Makes the house way too hot.
You look good in that blouse. Cannot believe you are 79!!!! Wow, you inspire me with your energy! I’m making this today and am wondering if I should have treated myself to an Ankarsrum instead of the Bosch mixer!
Beautiful loaf of bread! I just wanted to update you about my Amazon shopping for my Bluetti. I ended up with the Bluetti 200, a Baby Blue and the portable solar panels all for less than I would have paid for the Bluetti 200. We took it camping with us this past weekend and it worked out perfectly. Thanks for introducing me to Bluetti!
Can I ask, did it run your a/c, your lights? We usually use our gas generator for a while to keep our fridge cool. Most of our camping is boondocking on private land. We camp at over 6000 feet, propane use for the fridge does not work well. The noise and fumes are annoying from generator.. Have been considering a larger Bluetti for using during times when electric is down mainly to make sure freezer and fridge keep cool.
We have a camper on a permanent site, so we do not have to break down and set up. We did use it for our electric Blackstone, fans and we have an outdoor kitchen. We did not run our ac as our camper is 50 amp and I was not sure if it could handle the load. We need to buy a cart to move it around on as it is a little heavy to move around.
Hi Pam. Have you ever attempted to calibrate your oven? Our oven runs hot too and I’ve heard there’s a way to correct that by calibration. When you mentioned that about your oven it reminded me. Off to search ways to calibrate… 😂😉
I never liked rye bread or at least I didn't think I did until we lived in Germany. We frequented a local bakery to buy their wonderful whole wheat buns. When we got ready to move back stateside, we went in for one last roll. They weren't any out. I asked if they had any wheat rolls? That's when we learned they weren't wheat but rye! I found out it's the caraway seeds I don't like! Now, I make and enjoy rye bread. 😂
Hi Pam, I want to ask you if you have a copy of a book I purchased 50 years ago. It was called “Wheat for man” by Vernice Rosenvall. I looked in the Library of Congress in case it was there but to no avail! I know I have my copy still in my possession but due to breaking my hip 5 years ago I am handicapped and confined to the Main floor of my house in my wheelchair and walker. My husband of 58 years reminded me that I used to make a wonderful cake made with 100% stoneground wheat berries. I remember that cake and I might be able to make up a recipe but it would be nice to have the original. Furthermore, Thank you for helping us upgrade our storage needs. We just bought a Nutrimill and following your testing of the Nesco I went ahead and purchased one. I want to make Meals in a Jar. I really dislike Take-outs, frozen meals, canned pasta or soups. I only like take-out rotisserie chicken from Costco or the grocery store. We live in Brampton in the greater area of Toronto. I was born in France and came to Canada when I was 20. Until I broke my hip I cooked every meal according to the way I was brought up. I bought a Thermomix TM6 almost 2 years ago to help me cook. I can’t handle books so this machine is connected by Wifi to an App on my iPad. There is a dash board that gives me directions to follow. My husband and one of our sons who lives with us act as my sous-chef getting me the ingredients I need for a specific recipe chosen beforehand. I can cook sauces, knead bread, make puff pastry, etc.. my 20 year-old grandson loves cooking with me and the machine. We have made cinnamon rolls, Petits Pains au chocolat together. 😊❤
Is it ok to bake breads in stoneware loaf pans? I don't have any metal ones but have several of the Pampered Chef brand stoneware ones and I'm wondering if my breads should be cooked in metal. I've only ever made things like banana or zucchini bread - never a white/wheat/rye so I don't know if there's a difference.
The only way we sell our books is in PDF version. We have looked into printing hard copy of our books and with printing, and distribution costs today the price of a hard copy of any of our books would be way too high. Most folks download and t]print our books then keep them in 3 ring binders. That is how I do it as well.
