I wanted to buy fender flares for my Datsun however the wheels and tires on the car are too wide to fit any over the shelf flares so I decided to Fabricate my own 8 inch fender flares out of Steel. It was such a painstaking but fun process and the end product I think looks golden.

large diameter wheels are going to change your final drive ratio. Bigger is better traction but way slower take off. I used to put smaller diameter tires on my camaro to get better take offs easily when I was a kiddo.

For reference you should stitch weld that. Not just a bunch of tacks on it.

You should have (if you haven't, I know this vid is older) put the return, that flat vertical bit around the wheel. It would make the flare stronger, prevent flex and cracking the filler.
