You do not need it! GDScript is a dynamically typed language, but I have type hints on automatically so that I know the default return type and check for errors! There is also an increase in speed when static typing I believe!
omg this was one of my first projects, making the actual game functional took a day, but guis and save states were horrible…. i started godot like a month ago. This is super cool
