These memories of kite making and flying have remained with me from my childhood. I wanted to experience it again 30 years later and I stumbled upon Kite Lords. That’s what they call themselves. The young men put their monies where their mouth is make sure to invest in this traditional art form every Easter.
Benz and Kibo organized and we spent an entire day showing me how they make wooden (board) kites from scratch. We started with some sticks and ended with 6 feet kites. Benz explains every detail of kite making, from building the frame and nose, to covering, to tearing the tail pieces to launching the kite.
I see why he said they are referred to as lords. They understand aerodynamics, woodworking, and artistry.
I thoroughly enjoyed this educational and fun experience, and I’m sure you would as well.

I have a suggestion what if you guys could position a small camera on the kite so you can get a bird's-eye view maybe a GoPro or something
@OneOneCocoa473

@Rodell Williams I love that suggestion…it means we must pull down the kite though. An alternative might be a drone.

@@OneOneCocoa473 acutally no, I don't know if ever heard about "sending a message," whereby when the kite is in flight you tie a string on the thread/twine and it moves upwards to the kite. We attached a wifi camera to basically a small umbrella like contraption, minus the handle, put it openeď on the twine, connected the camera to a phone and up it went.

My dad is from Grenada up in maran near to Victoria, and he used to make the same style huge kites for us using brown paper and wood when we were kids right here in the uk. Everyone in the neighbourhood used to come out and watch us flying them.Watching this just reminded me of forgotten memories even took me back near on 40 years! It reminded of how powerful they were because they used to roar and lift us off the ground. Rip dad .I miss u.x

Do a video of moving heavy stuff around with one of your kites. I have theorized for years that it was the only means available to the Egyptians at the time that was strong enough to move huge stones. It’s gonna take professionals like y’all to accomplish such a Herculean feat but yall certainly have the expertise. I suggest using easy numbers for calculation purposes. Maybe use like a 1 square meter kite and a 10 kg stone and see how many meter wind it takes to move the stone so people can do the math for themselves. It’s a hell of theory and you guys are welcome to proving it possible. I think yall will get so many responses that you won’t be able to answer them all

Same technique we use to build kites in Jamaica. This remind me of that time when I spend a lot of hours making the most beautiful kite with about 5 different colours plastic bag, I was so proud of the kite and it flew perfectly. I went to fly it on the football field, there was another kid there with a rubbish kite that wouldn’t fly.. that kid went and told his big cousin that I stole his kite, so now his cousin trying to take my kite away from me. This cousin was older than me so I had no chance…. When I realise I couldn’t stop him taking my kite I crushed it in defiance and went home😂😂 this is one of my earliest experiences that people isn’t right and life isn’t fair.

How did the kite 🪁 turn out?
@rohaeldouglas7736
@rohaeldouglas7736 Год назад
I live in Jamaica and this is how we make Kites, a kite about 5 times smaller would have less wind resistance and be more fun though as we could do special moves with it such as causing it to to spiral out of control and regain control or free fall then pull it back up. Awesome stuff though :)...

Kite war was the thing. Some ppl use to put razor on the tail. Fun times a yard
@rohaeldouglas7736
@rohaeldouglas7736 Год назад
Lol, yes that was alot of fun, I used to tie the razor on a piece of nylon and attach it to the tail. Kite war is when each Kite is equipped with razor on the tails and we try to use the razor to cut the string of other's kites while they fly next to each other.
