how does cooking and living with a family make you lose your identity??? What about the love that gets showered upon her? Why do people forget that and I'm sure she's a modern and intelligent woman that knows about freedom and living life with a balance.
I think it's really cool that you have learned to do all the things you did in this video. I feel like women today are more focused on being independent and strong that they think serving food to their in-laws is degrading or taking a step back. But I feel like it shows your love for them, and keeping some traditions within our cultures is important, otherwise we'll end up with no culture. (I'm also jealous of your roti. It looked amazing! )

I dont believe its sexist to say youve made your own family very proud today. Arriving into Amans family with the knowledge of how to cook a panjabi meal is impressive & important in this day & age. Both Boys & more importantly girls should know how to do this so they can bless there children & parents with the food of there culture. @@MundheepVlogs sorry to say but our generation is generally lazy .. people hyping themselves up over boiling pasta & adding sauce ... Or being able to set the time / temperature on the oven ! We always knew you had the baking covered but seeing that your comfortable & competent with Panjabi food is just as impressive. Your mother took it upon herself to teach , & you listened , tried & learnt. A generation of kids are only eating roti at gurdwara , weddings , restaurants ... That's shameful !
@Willywoo2011 I said more importantly girls , because "normally" the female raises your child . Being Panjabi isn't just feeding your child , it's introducing them to there heritage . Food is a huge part of Panjabi culture. I totally agree Aman should know how to cook , the men in my family are better cooks than the women ! I'm all for equality , but you can't ignore that more women run there homes & kitchens then men . Lastly the comment about Aman cooking one or two times for Mandeep was to encourage him to learn how to cook & not expect his wife to do it all

I read some of these comments and what struck me the most is the negativity for something that's not their business. I cooked for my in laws once in a while. I lived with them for 12 years as was tradition. I only moved into my own place because of a job that was too far away. I cooked often as did my husband, his brothers, his mom, his dad. I also have a masters degree, a full time job, a child and I don't feel less of a person at any time. Keep being happy, ignore the haters who judged based on a 5 minute video when really they should be taking a good look at themselves for having such strong opinions on someone else's life. Haters are always going to hate. It's usually because their lives are lacking and it's easy to judge others than face up to it.
When you're not married and asked to take care of your family in one way or another, like giving a ride to a sibling or cooking dinner for the family, does everyone start complaining like these people here?? So once you are married, suddenly you must become selfish and not want to take care of your people one bit? Obviously if anything is forced and the people around you are toxic and using you and abusing you, then get the hell outta there!! But if your family is as loving as this and you wanna do something special for them like "cook your first meal in the house" and get love and blessings from your parents in law in return, apparently that becomes all backward. Backward is when you're constantly walked on all over all the time. This doesnt seem to be the case cuz you can tell how happy she is and how much fun she is having in spending time with her family. And people were helping her, she had someone else in the kitchen with her, we dont know how many people were constantly with her and helping her and all having fun with her. This looked special and lovely.
Tradition is important. I love cooking for my family and Sunday family dinner is my favorite! We cook together and eat together and cleanup together every Sunday. At least we try to do it every Sunday. Everybody does their part to chip in.
