They use acid to expose the serial number. The numbers are pressed hardened/density. Certain Acids will not effect the hardened denser metal and the softer metal will eat away a little and the number literally looks like it rises to the surface.

SKSs were mainly popular in the 80s because they were dirt cheap, not because people didn't know anything about guns-1/3 the price of an AK. Cheap guns sell well. The scope was improperly mounted, but sometimes people still get lucky. It looks like an empty tampon box taped on in respect to firearm expert Tampon Walz. Walz is an expert on embellishing his record like Cheney, who recently came out in support of Harris, is an expert on shooting innocent bystanders with a shotgun. Luckily, it wasn't an Alec Baldwin shot, and the bystander survived. I see a pattern: incompetent/poser shooters want to ban guns!

The person who did this video didn't even know why SKS were popular in the 80s. They were popular because they were dirt cheap. M1 Carbines- real military ones were cheap then as well but have skyrocketed in price. I wish that I bought several. I have never been an SKS fan and wouldn't even buy one when dirt cheap. I prefer AKs and RPKs. I even like Romanian PSLs, a good one can shoot, as well as a very expensive Dragunov.

What you said are "rubber hose clamps" appear to be regular hose clamps that were then wrapped with electrical tape (maybe so that they would not reflect light?). The rear scope ring looks like it is attached to the receiver cover with JB Weld. IF this thing was ever zeroed there is no way it could hold it even in just transporting the rifle. I don't think he would have been accurate enough with this rifle if he had the opportunity. Also, the bolt carrier handle, the shiny part of it that we see, IS NOT in the right location. That handle is in line with the carrier. In this picture it is far above the carrier. This is some jerry rigging of some kind.

The Chinese made a prototype marksman sks, it used a PU scope with a modified PU mount. Best ive got from my sks was 2.25 inch @100yds. Such a fun gun but its no marksman rifle 😆

Looks like the metal duck bill mag that you can buy online. I have a type 56 with that exact same mag. They can feed well without jams if you take it apart and file the grooves in the mag to allow the rounds to feed properly. Mine is still in the original furniture though i would never ever get rid of the wood stock

Sks should never be modified because you will spend more in mods (that don't work) then you did on the gun itself. Russian and Yugoslavia models are the only ones worth buying anyway.

My 7 year old mounted an old scope to his BB gun and he did a much better job! I really like the SKS's I've got! One is sporterized with the scope mounted correctly and I've actually taken deer with both! As an Army veteran, I still enjoy shooting rifles with the iron sights! Thanks

I'm not really familiar with the SKS but it looks to me like the rifle wouldn't even function with the scope on there. Wouldn't it jam after the first shot? Where's the spent case supposed to go? This just gets weirder and dumber the more I look at it and I fear for the safety of my brain cells.

@@johnleca I don't think I downplayed anything. Just stating a coincidence. Although that particular rifle isn't very accurate. It was made to spray bullets at a fast rate. I bought mine because it was very cheap and I could spray bullets at the range with very little cost. Had lots of fun with it until someone offered me more money for than I had paid. I think I only had it for a couple of months.

I have seen so many people shot and many died from basically junk firearms, I then see all the firearm baloney on here and of course the push for the most expensive and new calibers and think how cheap junk, luck and many other factors play into the equation. The rifle checks the crap boxes but who knows how things would have played out. Look at the "elite" USSS (joke) and one 20 year old, MR Crooks. I heard the serial number is not that important on an SKS. There can be multiple rifles with the same serial number. You have to look for the factory number and serial number combined. I heard.

The Chinese ones are junk, too. Stamped receivers instead of milled like the nicer Yugo/Russian ones. When they first got popular the extended mags were just AK magazines with an extra piece welded on. Some probably still are.

The SKS has never been as Assault rifle, during the AWB. I mocked the AWB, because a man named Duran shot at the White House with an SKS right after Clinton signed the AWB. This is exactly why Dims undergoing Senate confirmation will not answer questions, (nor will the Dim Senators themselves) to define an Assault Weapon. Yes the scope is a joke, b square made a decent mount but it still obstructed the rifle. Yes, it is possible to change the add on magazines, but it is difficult! That's what got Duran caught! Basically, the bolt has to be held open at the same time the magazine is changed. The few Chinese SKS designed to take AK mags, the bottom of the bolt carrier was narrowed to fit inside the magazine. Otherwise it held the magazine in by the feed lips. Most of the world's SKS are already in the United States, I don't know the total, but estimate 6 million? Another problem, the majority of those are C&R eligible! The Chinese actually built new SKS for the US market, pressing in the barrel like an AK, with a cast bolt Carrier. They were kind of a part of the Bush import ban, which forced the removal of the bayonet, held onto the rifle with a screw! I suppose screwing a bayonet back onto a Chinese SKS was some sort of federal crime, the only prosecution I know of was from a State law not the Federal one. In contrast, the Russian, Yugoslavian, Romanian, and to a limited extent Albanian SKS were imported as C&R. Hannity reported, no one else seemed to confirm, Trump was not visible at the reported range, but would have passed within 40 yards had he not been spotted. Obviously they want to minimize the atrempt!

Anyone that has any knowledge about firearms would know that’s an SKS and there are very distinct differences. For one any Kalashnikov type rifle has a much different profile. An AK-47 has a long stroke, recoil spring. The SKS has a short stroke, recall spring two small springs when you open up and disassembled the rifle field strip. Back in the early 90s, you used to be able to get SKS rifles for 75 bucks apiece to $100 apiece. The Chinese SKS is even the cheaper version of the SKS rifle. The AK-47 is a more expensive rifle, whether it has a stamped or mild receiver and much more reliable and has a long stroke recoil system. The SKS is a less reliable rifle with a short stroke, recall system. Both rifles originated and we developed in Russia and share a seven 76.2x 39 rifle cartridge. But that’s it both rifles. Don’t even share the same magazines.. The SKS can also be fed from the top with speed strips. Bolt can be put in the open position while doing this . Most SKS rifles need a conversion kit to take a detachable mag. The AKs bolt stays closed. Comes with a detachable mag and has a dust cover overtop the receiver and the bolt. Very distinct differences between the two rifles.

I have a Chinese SKS that came from the factory with a 16” barrel and uses unaltered AK 47 magazines & drums. I think I bought it in the late 80s, early 90s. No mods except a folding stock.

The SKS is a good rifle, in its original factory configuration. I have a type 56, mostly numbers matching, good condition rifle with integral spike bayonet. The only thing I’ve done to it, is have a trigger job done by a guy who is known and respected in the SKS community on the SKS boards. The trigger went from a crappy 11-12 lb mushy pull, to a. Fairly crisp 4-5 lb pull, so it’s a better shooter.

I used to own a sks an it was a great gun. If you know how to actually use iron sights it would be hard to get a good shot off. But the way that thing is set up I bet it wasn't zeroed at all. I could get some great groups at 100 yards. The government was involved in this attempt just like the last. It's all for show an it's not a good look for are own government. This is just the beginning of something even more sinister. My heart goes out the former president an the ones who lost their lives. This is how third world countries an communist countries deal with there opponents. An it's also a way to push for gun control. We will fall just like the Roman empire did if we can't unite an start showing theses elites who are really in charge. We the people are the one's who work are ass's off for them just to sit high an mighty. With our us they wouldn't be in charge or even have the power they do. They think we don't see what's happening. But yet they have done a good job in dividing us. An history will repeat it's self cause a lot of us haven't learned from it. They may be able to recover the serial number. Basically, unless he drilled the metal out and _removed_ the metal, they will be able to get the serial number... While there are other parts with serial numbers (usually the last 3 or 4 digits) those parts are not always original. Think about how rare it is to find a milsurp rifle with "matching numbers". However, I do not think we will ever get that information and the Feds will not admit they retrieved the serial number. The gun was likely stolen quite some time ago and may end up being traced back to an evidence locker. Somewhere. If they recovered the serial number. Get it? This looks like the type of rifle one would find in a gangbangers car or a meth lab and keep in evidence. How convenient. AND now they arrested his son for child p*rn and drugs and he is in custody. 🤔 AND "someone" produced a letter, allegedly from "several months" ago, apologizing for "failing in the mission" and offering a bounty for anyone who could "finish the task"...AND THE HARRIS DOJ PUBLICIZED IT!!!!!!!!! The same people trying to put Trump in prison are running the investigation, releasing offers of bounties, and keeping the shooter and anyone near him under their direct control.

Literally the worst bubba build I have ever seen. My sks is the best bubba sks, there has never been a better bubba’d sks than mine. Fab defense chasis and a magwedge top rail. Lol I’d protect the president with mine if I had the chance and didn’t have my AR though, not try to be another cold corpse who tried to take a pot shot at the winning candidate. There was a scope mount for sks that you had to remove the rear sight. This made a scout scope which in most cases you used a handgun scope with long eye relief. Fairly accurate at 300 meters. Also mitigated the blocking of brass ejection. I prefer the internal magazine. More reliable and easier to carry and shoot prone. You can get rather proficient at reloading with stripper clips. 10 rounds of 762 is nothing you want to be on the wrong end of

It looks like the scope rings are jb welded on. The aft only cares about the import serial number and that's on the receiver. The thing on the back of the scope could be a dragonov scope type of eye cup.
