Uri, I work as a repairman of brass instruments in the states. I suggest, if you want a higher finish by hand, a product called miracle cloth. I don't know of the availability where you are but it is mainly cloth soaked in coconut oil. It really shines up brass and brings it to a pretty high luster.
17:21 ".. I notice all the places, all the inaccuracies with my engraving" while I can see your point, I think your work is beautiful as it is, I would be astonished to receive such a gift! Superb handcraft, I can't imagine all the hours that was put into its realization, I'm very glad I stumbled upon this channel by pure accident (almost, the Algorithm always knows)
I know your pain... once made 3 teapots with the spout upside down... Didn't notice until I was trying to use it. Had to look at the first teapot I had ever made to realize what went wrong.
@@urituchmanpigeon thanks very much i really love your work. I will try to make a workshop similar to yours where i could relax and create something more peaceful without loud noises only hammer taps thanks again. Keep up. Ivan
How about make a simple sharpening fixture so you can have precision cutting angles on all your chisels then engrave the fixture with the freshly sharpened graver
I love your videos! I do a lot of wood work with chisels and hand tools and learn with every project. All I can say from personal experience is no one is as critical as the Maker of the project. Your engraving is beautiful!
The overbend on the fork was not a complete failure. Now you know how to successfully make an epic back scratcher!...lol. Awesome video! Beautiful work as always!
What a beautiful treasure they will have for the rest of their lives and remembering that you make it especially for them on their special Wedding Day.
Uri, You are my new favorite craftsman.... I love your artistic eye & mind when you come up with the ideas & give it your best. Just keep on what you are doing & you will become great at it!
You have very impressive skills and patience. Even when your not happy with your finished work you turn out beautiful keepsakes. I would be proud to own your worst work. Great work great video great artist. Thank you for sharing.
Just found you uri,and im hooked,i,ve watched all your vid,s,and i think your brilliant very funny and talented man, thank you for sharing,ps your cats don,t care about anything, brill
These were absolutely beautiful man. An inspiration. I would love to do things like this, though I don't expect them to turn out nearly as well as yours.
Perhaps next time it might be a good idea to put contact paper over the felt before you apply it, that way any excess glue will get on that and you can peel it away afterward.
Uri, I love your low tech approach, it would be great if at the end you gave an estimate of how many hours your projects take. I'm sure it's far more than what the videos let on and will help us appreciate how much effort and dedication you invest into your craft.
When you say magnification, I don't know if you mean using a microscope, I could see that being difficult to engrave with, but maybe one of the visor type magnifiers would work for you and you'd be more comfortable with that. You're an amazing artist, and I watched another youtuber Alex Steele teach himself engraving under a microscope. Now he got pretty good for having no experience with engraving. With your skill and some practice maybe you could get comfortable with a scope and really up your engraving.
great work as usual. I just noticed that the knife seems to be engraved on the wrong side (afaik knifes are put on the right side of the plate with the edge towards the plate) nevertheless - its just great watching you work :)
Quick question. What is your source for the brass and other metals you use - Ebay or a local supplier? Also, if you could talk a bit about what type of Brass and steel you use in your projects I would find that interesting and helpful. Beautiful work as always on your end, love your projects and thanks for sharing!
Did you do something to your pinky? Around the 6:33 mark, where you get the wood, it looks like you've dislocated your pinky before! Is the angle of the camera playing mind games on me?? Beautiful work as always!!!
Uri Tuchman haha!!! looked kinda freaky, similar to my thumb that can be pushed behind my knuckle from breaking it multiple times and it not healing properly
When you had curved the fork prongs too much, i thought a long handle would make a beautiful back scratcher and equally acceptable as a gift. Maybe next time, youre a true connected artisan. Thank you.
No matter how much I watch him, I can't get over how he doesn't make any mistakes while engraving any of his projects. However, that's probably because he's done it so many times. He can still make mistakes, evidenced by him breaking the fork head.
