Hello! Welcome to Sherri's Heavenly Apothecary. I'm Sherri.
Today I am making my Heavenly Luxe Face Soap. I don't know about you, but I love a good, gentle, conditioning face soap! This bar is luxurious, with a gentle, conditioning, and superbly moisturizing feel that will not disappoint! The oils and botanicals were picked specifically to create a moisturizing, healing, soothing, and conditioning bar with antiinflammatory, anti-drying, and anti-aging properties.
Here is the recipe as promised:
181.44 g - Distilled Water - is at 30% of oil weight and infused with 2 Tbs each of organic dried chamomile and calendula
62.16 g - Sodium Hydroxide (Lye)
181.44 g - (40%) Extra Virgin Olive Oil
90.72 - (20%) Coconut Oil
90.72 g - (20%) Macadamia Nut Oil
45.36 - (10%) Castor Oil
45.36 - (10%) Shea Butter
1 tsp. Sodium Lactate (added to Lye solution below 130*degrees)
Additives (added at light trace):
1 Tbs. Wildflower Organic Honey
1 Tbs. Kaolin Clay
1 Tbs. Organic Oats (finely ground)
14 g EO blend:
4.66 g - Geranium Essential Oil
4.66 g - Jasmine Essential Oil

Hi Sherri new to your channel, I have a question. The lye solution being such a harsh chemical when you add the lye to infused water doesn’t the lye harms the properties of the herbs. Thank for sharing.

Good question! I think it does somewhat but cannot tell you exactly how much it does or doesn’t. I also like using infused oils, as well to give it more of the herbal properties, but even then I’m not sure how much withstands saponification. I do like having them in there rather then not because even if there is only a little I still want those benefits and to me they give the soap a good skin feel. I wish I had a better answer. I guess it’s a personal preference whether one thinks it’s worth it or not. Thanks for watching!

Do you think it’s better to infuse herbs in water or as a tea, like shown or infuse herbs into oil?

I think it depends on what you’re making how you infuse the herbs. You can do both. Not sure which is better, I like infusing in water and oil, so I guess that’s a personal preference 😊thanks for watching!

Did you grow the herbs? Where can I find them? Thx

I do grow them, but not in the winter there in MN 🥶❄️I get them from herbco.com and mountain rose herbs. I always get organic herbs. Both companies are great.
