Hey you need to add 1/4 round under your cabinet to help hold down the flooring and I would also add a trim board to the bottom to make it look more finished good job guys
My wife and I really like the Caeser salad but if your Costco has the Mediterranean salad (to do for). Also the street tacos are really good. The house is looking great. Stay safe.
Love your videos and for the kitchen flooring just get a caulk gun and a tube of flooring adhesive dont need much put a lil down put flooring down a weight on it for a lil while and your done 👍
Josh..rent a big floor sander from Lowe’s/HDepot and do it yourself. We did many floors in our house when we built it! It’s easy & VERY CHEAP!! We did everything ourselves, or we couldn’t have the house we wanted. My hubby is an electrician and learned plumbing by working on low income rental houses starting when he was 14 yrs old. He learned drywall, masonry, painting, etc too. We had a Co. brick our home (22,000 bricks..😳) and we did the rest. It’s a huge house!! What kind of countertops did you get for your kitchen? They look very nice you guys!! 🤗 Great vids and a great job on your flip. I’m super proud of you both!! 😁
The cabinets have an unfinished kick plate. So you're going to need to put baseboard down there anyways, so do not glue it because it is a floating floor made to expand and contract. and in areas where you don't want baseboard, use quarter round
Absolutely no glue or nails. Quarter round is how it would be done professionally. You never want to nail or glue a floating floor it will pucker and heave if you do.
Hey Josh, usually you install a kick plate (trim) at bottom on cabinets. It’s usually made of pressed wood. Once that is in your flooring would be held down by it, usually don’t use adhesive because that type of flooring moves a bit
For the piece against the cabinet, you need to add a kick plate to the bottom of the cabinets and that will hold the flooring down. If a kick plate is not thick enough, add a quarter round trim piece.😊 The kick plate hides the ugly transitions of the cabinets. Gives a great finished look.
Put a kick plate at the bottom of the cabinets and then a piece of quarter round molding and it will keep the floor down and also have a finished look.
Flip house is so beautiful! You’ve upgraded everything to make it gorgeous but not over the top. If i remember right it’s going to be a rental. As a lifelong renter i can confidently say it would be an amazing place to live. Well done!😊
@@austinguerrero8754 :) Yes, you did. It should read Hayley. Don't feel to bad because you aren't the first to have done so. Regardless of how her name is spelled, she always has that cute smile in the next video. A misspelled name doesn't seem to keep her from getting so excited over some great find. THANK YOU Hayley for being you. Please don't ever change. We all love you! Quarter round will hold that piece down and allow your flooring to expand and contract. Nail the quarter round to the toe board under the cabinet not the flooring.
Josh... never glue or nail down that style floor. It's called a floating floor and will "float" or move with expansion and contraction. If you permanently fasten it down, you will get buckling in the floor. The same will happen if you did not leave space around the perimeter for expansion.
Here at the canton, Ohio goodwill outlet they started a best bins program where they charge three dollars a turn to get into a roped area to be the first to look at the items…there are 10 turns a day…only the top 12 get into the area while the rest are out of luck…it’s a pilot program and we are the first to implement it and it’s coming everyone’s way…goodwill looking to profit from resellers who do this for a living…the anger is incredible…
So, Goodwill is making an extra $30.00 a day from this fee? It seems to me that they will lose much more than $30.00/day in sales by alienating many customers who then may not come to shop at all.
You have a much better bins than I do. Maybe I just go at bad times, I usually go around noon-2pm on random days here and there. Most of the time I leave with a handful of stuff at most. I am a little particular with what I want. Mostly electronics and video game stuff if I’m lucky.
You can see the gaps where the cabinets meet and the unfinished wood as well. Just a 1/4 round alone won’t cover that. Pick up some flat, plain trim boards and run it along the face to cover that and the gaps to hold your flooring down.
Skip finishing the hardwoods. If it’s going to be a rental, run the LVP thru out. May be more expensive initially but will hold up better in a long run. Plus the uniformity looks better.
Hey brotha. Love you guys and your doing an awesome job. I wish I lived close to you because if I did I would help you free of charge. I use to build custom cabinets and I love working with wood. I would put a 2 1/2 - 3" baseboard mold down, all around the flooring in all the rooms.
Great finds at the bins on this video Josh & Hayley! I'll have to wait to see your Whatnot for some of those items. I also love the color of the cabinets and the countertop is great - even some green flecks in there. what I don't understand is how (at this writing) over 3,300 people have watched this and only 550 have taken the time to click the like button. Come on people, takes a fraction of a second to do that!!!
Hi kids. I've been with you guys since the start of house flip. It looks super duper amazing. The floor refinishing cost seems a little high but I'm in Ohio so that could be the reason. Anyway congrats
You can put a piece of quarter round or shoe molding on the toe kick under your cabinets to hold the last piece of flooring down...nail it to the toe kick not to the floor so your floor still floats...
Yes, to the quarter round to hold that piece of flooring down. HEY JOSH, about refinishing the hardwood floors. We rehabbed a house that had its original hardwood floors. We had them refinished and they turned out great. The issue was, we had it done last and the dust from the sanding was all over everything including the walls. I had to dust everything and used a Swiffer Duster dry to do all of the walls.
YES! thats the issue with just renting a sander from home depot. The company we're talking to apparently has "dustless" sanders that would significantly cut down on any dust produced by the process. Another reason we are leaning towards using them.
Love your choices in the kitchen! Love your channel. I always learn something new. Time to sign up for Whatnot, since I have my eye on that Vera Bradley teacher tote😉
Thank you for putting your next three whatnot shows. I usually watch your videos a few days late and miss your shows every time. I already missing 4/2 & 4/3 show but I will definitely catch today’s show.
Hi Josh and Hayley, you can EASILY refinish hardwood floors yourself. Seriously, if you can run a lawnmower you can run a floor sander. I had zero experience, rented one from Home Depot, followed the directions they gave me, and did it myself. Then we put a couple of clear coats of lacquer on using a sponge mop. It was amazing how beautiful the floors were under decades of wear and tear. We even repaired a hole by taking a couple of boards out and toenailing new boards back in.
COSTCO PRO TIP: When ordering a slice of pizza (because it’s a huge piece) ask the associate to cut it in half and it’ll feel like you’re eating 2 slices and it’ll be easier to eat 🍕🍕
I don’t read any other comments so sorry if it’s a duplicate. I wouldn’t put a garbage disposal in, especially as a rental. When my husband was getting ready to rent his old house out in NC he was actually told to remove the one he had. Just an extra expense and less of a headache 🙂
I went to the goodwill bins in Birmingham and it was ok and I got very sick but got great stuff!! So I was excited but got sick so differently wear gloves
always though ceaser salad was fancy as never had one before..until my wife in dubai of all places asked for a ceaser salad to try out. its just lettuce with dressing!! why do people like it so much???
Hello Josh, as for the flooring, here is my suggestion. Glue down that flooring piece and the use a base board along the cabinets and that will help it stay positioned correctly.
The two of you are so lovely. Has anyone ever asked you for a somewhat biographical segment? It would be nice to hear where you came from, and your goals.
