Yes, you have to put salt every single time you use in order to freeze the syrup (salt+water+ice).

Also a tip use ice cream salt

@@shweisaiah nah if you check the reviews on amazon its like 30% all reviews are same not working and i did 3 turns at it just not turning it to slush after 45 plus mins put in perfect to instructions the machine is bs its spinning not mixing and its just a fake mini freezer to turn the slushi to ice use a freezer lol
