What is the moral of the story? You can accomplish a lot with just EQ and wave shaper :D In fact I have a tune called Destruction Of Our Universe where the main bass is exactly designed with 3xOSC and a chain of EQs, reverbs and distortions
I've been half my life studying all ways to sound design, at some point the only thing I have in mind is "It needs to sound good and crazy" instead of making it stressful by being worried about theory... But for some kind of sounds yes, just like the one with the soft harmonic (the harmonic placed at the half octave of the fundamental note, first bass of the vid): The only way to replicate it with 3x Osc was using the 3 oscillators, two of them with the two different octaves and the last Osc emulates with AM synthesis the harmonic created with a FM synth when you put the carrier one octave below the modulator and increases the gain a little bit. The result is that soft harmonic, but to make that with 3x Osc I had to place the sine wave exactly in the middle of the two octaves, that's the why I detuned it a little bit in a weird frequency. Of course there are a couple more ways to recreate that sound such as filtering a sine wave but I preferred to complicate it a little bit to show something more technical. But if you mean with "music theory" something about the weird scales and excessive dissonance that I use in other videos, it is intentional, I am actually a guitar player and studied music theory but I play Extreme Metal so I love the dissonances and sounds that makes people feel uncomfortable.

That's not a sub only, it's the most typical DnB Lower-Mid Sound, the sub frequency keeps normal but the next frequencies which are the harmonics of the Sub needs to be stereoized and also have a lot of space. I normally do that with Serum or FM8 adding 2 times the same harmonic but a little bit panned or using Unison Settings, I can't do that in 3xOsc without detuning then I needed to use reeverb and Early Reflections cuz 3x Osc has limited osc's.
@@InfernalMediaTM2 maybe but the kick and sub always go in mono, the bass always can have reverb for space, it's not judge or somethin don't get me wrong bro, but never seen that using on subs. Still like the track! :)
