Lo felicito barón, en mi humilde opinión es usted un gran artesano, y al menos yo aprecio mucho el deseó y la dedicación de cualquier humano en función de la creación artística o practica, en cualquier aspecto de esta vida, saludos.
Thank you for posting this. I learned many things. I have always liked watching a craftsman work. I can apply what I learned today to other projects; I also enjoyed the music as you were working. Regards Perfecto
Makes me really curious if the srkc handle would fit the kobun if it did it would be like having a recon tanto c I have a few kobun Gus’s I might have to order a srkc
This is a great video and it turned out beautifully. I just got the srk c and it has a noticeably thinner handle… I thought it was going to be the exact same but with a shorter blade but I was wrong. And I can’t really hold it properly because I have a permanent injury to my knuckles. I’m thinking a leather stacked handle is the only way to go to make it better. I’d do this for my full srk too but I’m nervous about wrecking it. The compact is a good Guinea pig because I can’t really do much with this knife until it has a fatter handle. I’m a sucker for natural materials, so while the srk handle is good, grippable and will last for generations, it just doesn’t please me aesthetically like a natural material like wood or leather (or micarta, but micarta looks almost natural) does.
I am looking to make a similar handle for my SRK in 3v. How thick is the micarta you used for the finger guard and pommel? I am wondering if I can use 1/4" x 1.5" x 1" ? I like the looks and thickness of your micarta. Great job!
Cut a slot in the lanyard hole to take a small bolt. Weld in, and flaten the side of the nut. This allows you to use a pommel tightened down, with a dome head nut. This will tighten the leather to the tang. And also tighten the guard to the blade. This makes it so you do not loose any length in the handle. In fact you can slightly lengthen it, by making the pommel longer with a curve for the little finger.Brass is easy to work for the guard. This is how Cold Steel attach the pommel on the tanto and tai-pan ect. I gave mine a recessed micarta handle, with a g10 guard, and pommel with brass tubing to attach the dome head screw, all glued the tang and brass pins. Nice one sir!
