Welcome to part 2 of my LEGO animations in Blender tutorial series where we dive into character design and rigging for animation.
Throughout this series we will go through the entire process of making a scene. Stay tuned.

Tip if you select an armature and press control tab then it will go to pose mode!!! This saved akot of time!!!

Rob Frydryck the ocean is very fun to do, here’s the basics. Bake a fluid simulation, remesh it to blocks, and instants a lego brick to each block. Pretty sure there’s a great tutorial out there

For the people doing this in 2020 the addon has been updated and now has a AUTO rig feature! Saves alot of time!

You’re very cool and in some ways my teacher, it’s exactly from your videos that I learn to work at Blender, but I have one question: how do you make such a high-quality walking animation and how many frames are better to take for foot animation.

I will get to the walk cycle in my next video. I normally animate at 12FPS and for walking I basically simulate a Stopmotion method.

Hello! Unfortunately there's an issue in which when I rig the arms, they don't attach to the body, rather where the hands are. Is this an issue I'm only experiencing or something that others are having trouble with also?

Great video cant wait for more, when I import my model and go the view port shading my model is purple and doesn't render. Please help.

Clear Brix Studios are you using the template file from mecabricks? The pink/purple shading is most likely because there is an hdri lighting setup already built in to that blend file. But there is no image. When it is pink it means there is no texture to display. So you need to check the world shader settings download an hdri to use for the lighting.

Look up rigging tutorials. Or you can use epicfigrig which is the latest and greatest lego rig

Hello there. First off, I wanted to say I really enjoyed this tutorial. It was well structured, to the point, and very informative. However I'm having some difficulty replacing the textures of my character. At around 6:06 when you go into the node/shader editor I noticed mine looks completely different to yours. I have a decoration and a few shader nodes but no "Image Texture" node. Is their something I've missed? Thanks either way.

Yes so the add on has been updated since. The image texture node can now be found inside the “decoration” node group

Great tutorial - teaching myself LEGO blender on lockdown and this is perfect. At 9:40 there are a load of extra circles etc for the armature that aren't part of the minifigure. Any idea what they are for? :)

QuackingFilms they are for the armature. They are the custom bone shapes. Turn them off for render and viewport visibility.

@@OwenatorProductions Thanks, i figured they were for something else... Perhaps I could add a horse to the big master bone? I can't seem to find any guides on how to use those extra bits however... Perhaps one for a future advanced tutorial if you're after ideas :). Love the series, has been perfect for my learning so far!

QuackingFilms there are no extra bones. They are all for the mini-figure. Those extra shapes you see are simply objects for the bones to take shape after. They do absolutely nothing.

It’s just simple rigging using an armature and parenting the parts to their corresponding bones. Join the BlenderBricks discord server (link in my community page) I can help you out better there. There are also a lot of other lego animators on there that can help you out if you have any more questions.

Make sure you are moving the IK bones (g) and not rotating the leg bones. If that doesn’t work I’d try re parenting the legs. Alt-p to un parent, then try the parenting process again.

i have 2 problems: 1. when i go to the shader editor and then i click my torso to add the printing (cause that's anither thing the printing does not load) it doesnt have a window called "image texture" . 2. when i import the minifigure and click on viewport shading only the hands's colors load but the rest of the figure stays white and doesn't load (also some parts become pink after a while but idk why). Can you help with my issues?

1. it is now under the "decoration" node. 2. mecabricks lite doesn't work for eevee that may be why. Pink means there is a missing texture

hi man, sorry but I´ve to ask: if I try to download the figure I haven´t the option "LEGO@Logo". It only the download possible. (2:37) and it isn´t possible to change the color/material like you (in 5:50) and so I haven´t the option window for "image texture". maybe it´s possible to ask me because I´ve no idea how it works.

Ok, I have one problem, whenever I try to parent the legs to the bones it doesn't work. It will parent them, but I can't move the legs separately. But when I move the waist bone, the legs go with it. Please help

HalfDisc717 are you using the advanced IK rig? The one that I used? So you need to move the little rectangle feet bones to move the legs. Check my animations walk cycle tutorial video

@@OwenatorProductions whenever i do that, it doesnt work. I paired the bones but then first i tried the left mouse button, it didnt wrk. The select option came. The. The middle mouse button did rotated the mini figure. And right mouse button only opened a dialog box.

You don’t click the mouse. You hit r on t keyboard and move your mouse. I recommend watching some beginner blender tutorials so you can get familiar with the interface
