Yes it is wonderful to be able to powder the fd foods. I find it much easier on the device used to make powders with than dehydrating. However I do love dehydrating as well. Thanks for the comment. Happy freeze drying.

I'm working down the list of the freeze dried February 23 and not only finding more things to make with the freeze dryer but also some great homestead RU-vidrs! I'm trying to grow my own lemon trees and had no problem starting trees from seeds of grocery store lemons.

Carla your food will definitely be enhanced like tomatoes or peppers because the moisture is gone from the food and it is so delicious. Kinda like when you dehydrate something and the sugars become more concentrated. Everything so far has been pretty good. I love freeze dried blackberries and blueberries too. Hi Susan, yes you absolutely correct. I’m glad to hear that you are back into food preservation. Freeze drying has been a wonderful experience and investment for our food preservation and future. There are times in the summer when I say omg i could use two Freeze Dryers. We have four dehydrators and at times I have had all of them working. Liked all the information about lemons. Love the idea of using the rinds also with zero waste. The lemon powder has so many uses, I just found mixing vinegar with lemon powder will remove hard water spots on faucets and vinyl shower walls without any damage Nothing had worked in the past! If you separate the rinds from the fruit after drying you will have 2 different products. The fruit into powder. And the rinds for citrus vinegar for cleaning.
