I know this is a really old video, but I'd LOVE to see an update on this, to see how that 1/16" brass rod at 17:44 was sharpened (to what shape, using what tools, etc). That's a game changer for a modeller who wants to follow this technique. Any help would be awesome!

Amazing video, and great job from both! It would be nice to have more of these how to's. Thank you for sharing!

I really like the toothpick for sculpting kneadatite as you can soak it in water (or just hold it in there for a minute) and the wood cells will absorb the water making it very anti-stick. I have real problems with metal or plastic tools. Even silicone seems to stick after a minute.

Steve makes it look easy. I've tried making bags and tarps with Milliput fine, will try out the green stuff now! Thanks for all the videos.

I’m sure you figured it out by now, but I dust my mixed milliput with corn starch to dry the surface some. Made some decent looking bed rolls. Couldn’t get straps small enough without tearing though, but I used painted string.

Nice to see you in this video Steve. A great how to sbs and I definitely need to get me that Green stuff, as it seems superior to the Magic Sculp available over here in Europe.

GREAT video! Any suggestions on the type of material for the working mat or "rolling pin"? Maybe my problem was not enough water, but I just tried working with green stuff for the first time and I had a lot of "sticking" problems.

Andy...I am having a hard time trying to visualize the tool that Steve uses to make his buckles. I though I heard him say that he was using a 1/16th. brass square tube. Could you please show a picture of the end of the rod or a diagram. Thank you.

That's really great and all, but what about painting it? Does it suck up paint, what paint might be best? I'm a little afraid it's not going to look realistic or blend in properly

Great tutorial!! Is there any reason why you make the first fold for a tarp roll? Does that first fold make it easier to roll or can we just start rolling the kneadatite right away?
@lucasbaxter2357
@lucasbaxter2357 7 лет назад
I Know this is an old comment, but it's just to make the material thicker for realism. kneadatite acts like clay.

is there a video on how to make the crates? really cool stuff. I have Milliput so Im not sure the end result will be the same but Ill try.

Allan Stott balsa wood, or popsicle sticks, though balsa is much easier to work with. Use a stuff wire brush to drag along the balsa to give it a wood grain. Just need some PVA/super/white glue, whatever you have on hand. Handles and handle brackets can be shaped with just some thin wire (stripping electrical wire for the thin copper is an easy source).
