Hey y'all, since my mother's whole family is from Mississippi I figure I know more about slugburgers than most people. First, these are only really found in about four counties in the northeastern corner of the state. People in most of the rest of the state don't know anything about them. The county her family is from is the one probably most associated with slugburgers. The town of Corinth, the county seat has several cafes that serve them. Now, you can't get them in fast food chains there; their menus are too controlled. You have to go to one of the small, local diner type restaurants. The most famous one is probably The White Trolley, but there are others that serve them including Borroum's Drug Store (they have a lunch counter), and a place called the Slugburger Cafe. Corinth even has a Slugburger festival every year, though with the current situation I don't know if they will be having it this year. Some of the locally owned supermarkets there, again not the big chain ones like Kroger, actually sell slugburger meat already premixed. I believe it can also be bought directly from a local meat market there, Isbell's Meat Market, which is where the local supermarkets probably get their's from. I would like to state that I am not related to any of the businesses I have named in this comment. Finally, I would say that you were mostly right in your explanation of the name; they originally cost .05 cents, in other words, a nickel, which in the local slang of the 1930's, when they originated, was called a slug, since the nickel wasn't made of silver like dimes & quarters still were at that time. Let me know if you have any other questions.
If I could eat a burger made by Gasparito I would be the happiest man in the world ;) Love your videos cabrones, on both channels :) Pozdrowienia z Polski 🇵🇱
Great looking hamburgers!! A slug is just a pice of round metal that is the same size and thickness as a coin. One of my friends as a young kid had a whole pocket of slugs he got from a new housing development. They were Conduit knockouts from metal outlet boxes. We played a lot of pinball!!
I wished you guys would set up a tour of the country because I would love to meet the both of you, you two are some of my most favorite people to watch on RU-vid and I bet you two are amazing humans as well.
Thanks for another video that brings a big smile to my face. You guys bring happiness to so many of us...which is so important, right now. Also, I just added Ms. Vickie's jalapeno chips to my grocery order. Yum!!!
Auf Wiedersehen Edwin und Gasparito, you both are amazing and I am a big fan from Germany near Nuremberg. Love all your stuff, best channels by far. Only thing better is real life 😀👍
its really good and one of the ingridient that makes it good coz you used italian style breadcrumbs its has a flavor in it.. more video please we enjoyed it...
We in Italy use breadcrumbs to bread meat or fish. First put the meat or fish in the beaten egg and then put it in the breadcrumbs. Perhaps in making the meatloaf and in some recipes of fried meatballs, but so I have never seen it used, perhaps adding the grated cheese, nutmeg salt and pepper, maybe it is a little tastier, but that is something that Gasparr can do on his cooking channel. This simple and quick recipe is also good here. Ciao from Venezia.
Our household switched from cow milk to almond milk at the very beginning of the "mess" . It has been an eye opening change , well worth it . Keep milking those trees .
put the breadcrumbs into the ground meat and an egg (onion too, but it's optional), mix it together, form pattys and put it in the pan. in germany that is called a "frikadelle" and you can eat it plain (with mustard or ketchup) or you can put it between bun's like a hamburger. it's really good :)
These guys really need their own show! Way more entertaining to watch than most of the cooking show hosts. I mean if Bobby flay got a show these guys certainly should have one.
Sometimes its better to make something simple like this. Don't get me wrong, I love lettuce, tomato and cheese on mine BUT once in a while I like just a hamburger with cheese plane. Nothing on it and it taste so good. I made a sick burger yesterday too lol
Great video! It's amazing how keeping ingredients simple can lead to the best burgers. It would be awesome if you could leave a link to the music you play at the end of the video!
