I don't the reason most of the time I watch these music tutorials on TV edit : I like his sense of humor "you can shape it in a way you like and take it" 😂
video suggestions Making future bass synth fills with serum like illenium and slushi How illenium made the let you go drop ( I think he just used reverb on the vocal but I have no real idea on how to produce it) Thanks
You should do an entire series on Sound Design, starting from the basics like talking about each Waveform and their unique identity so as to recognize the type of waves used to create a song to the most advance level which is basically actually making different sounds. For example, certain sounds sound like a Square or a Q-Pulse or simply, a Pulse wave but can also be created by distorting a Sine wave (which eventually turns/morphs it into the same type of wave). Then there is Triangle which is least used one I feel but sounds great and usually has a very metallic tinny type sound which again can be achieved with Sine wave. This is a great idea for your channel. You can make this an every-week episode type of a thing where you do such a video every week in the Sound Design series. But just make it an entirely new series and create a new playlist for it.
Tutorial Request: Since the "Big kick" in Big room has been dying away, I have noticed producers like KEVU and Maddix using very Punchy but subby kicks almost like a straight 808 but in big room. What it sounds like is a short punch kick with a sine wave tailing off. I have tried for years to get this to sound right and no matter what tutorial I watch (there aren't any on this) or what forum i read, I can't figure it out. Tracks to use as examples are BANG - Maddix&Kevu, Alive - Sick Individuals (maddix remix), Voltage - Maddix, Jayden Jaxx. Can you make a tutorial on how to process and eq the kick, process and EQ the sub, and how to mix them together to get them to sound so tight and controlled like in the tracks i mentioned above? No matter what i do, my low end is all over the place, uncontrolled, no punch in the low end of the kick, and no matter how i process my sub, its too muddy every direction. Be the first guy ever to give a great explanation on this!
That was really helpful! I could do without some of the jokes, especially the repetitive ones about lovers and friends etc, but not because I find them offensive or so, just because they were distracting from the otherwise very good information. I'm not new to music production, but I'm new to Serum. So seeing this was a great introduction into the basic approach and how to 'think' about sounds for this style. Definitely gonna check out your other vids, good stuff!
First of all - love your sense of humor mate! Great overview of functions, fantastic tips, you've opened my eyes. Your explanation is simple and accurate for newbies and pros! Please continue the good work!
DJ VaToR Truthfully, I don't think there is much to it. I don't like it at all, specially due to it's kick but I have heard a few songs and all of them basically have the same pattern and a very similar or I think the same Kick. There is not much to learn in this particule genre. Just have a not-so-fast melody at a high tempo and then add that bad Kick to it, that is it.
Thank you so much for this tutorial! I am completely new to Dubstep and have been looking for tutorials like this. This tutorial was informative and easy to follow! Thank you!
what you start with is of no importance, start with whatever you want. No such thing as “most important plugins” find something you can feel comfortable with and learn easily (as far as interface goes). You can learn music theory anywhere on RU-vid. As far as D.A.Ws are concerned just find one in your budget, as long as it supports VST instruments you’re good (abelton and FL Studio seem to be the most popular for any type of electronic music) and once again you can find tutorials for any D.A.W on RU-vid
Plus, the video reads how to make "sounds". I'm sure there are plenty production 101 vids out there. Dodge and Fuski have great tutorials on overall production.
I’ve been producing since I was 15. I’m 24 now and this is probably the best video I’ve ever seen on sound design. Subscribed, liked, shared, and looking forward to more content.
Hey Zen! Would you mind checking and try making a tutorial on that very big plucky lead/bass sound that you could hear in the drops of KSHMR's Leviathan and Megalodon? Kudos :)
Do you know how to make the distorted saw lead Maurice West uses in a lot of his tracks like Don't You Say, Yin, Yang, Dojo, or Poseidon? Thanks and nice video!
Want to make Electronic music? Great, Spend £300+ On a DAW, then spend £155 for Xfer's Serum. Simple, right? No, you need a beefy computer because your VTech laptop will hit audio crackles more frequently than a pre-pubescent 12-year old.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE make a tutorial on how to make future house/bounce like PBN with extraordinary PLEAAAASE. and if you can do it with sylenth1 plz cuz I don't have serum :'(
is there a reason you're not talking into the mic? Going for a dirty LoFi sound or something? Because the cardioid pattern on that mic definitely comes from the top of the capsule, like most dynamic mics. You're off-axis, talking from the side. Yeah it's picking you up, but not very well you'd sound 10x better if you used some proper mic technique haha. no offense, I have great respect for anyone doing videos, but mannn buying a nice mic is literally meaningless if you don't use it properly haha they way you're using it, you'd be better off with a $100 condenser like an MXL 770 or one from Audio Technica. They're meant to pick sound up from a distance and a wider angle (condensers in general are.) Dynamic mics require you to be right in front of it, about 2" from the diagram. The capsules over most dynamic mics are designed to keep you the perfect distance, take the SM7 for example. That's the whole point in that long stupid cone in front of it, to make it fool proof. Still need to talk directly into it though haha
I'm gonna have to watch this video a few times...lol It's straight forward and very clear...but my eyes glazed over after 6 minutes...lol But it's ALL HERE...so thank you for this and letting me know I can do it, it's just gonna take some time...:D
Hey @Zen World can you explain music theory. I am not getting a good tutorial on it everyone is explaining quickly...I mean they are not providing a full concept tutorial on music theory. So, I hope you'll help me.......I'll be waiting for your response...
I've been making...sorry,wrong expression,I've been studying the art of dubstep and FL Studio for almost 8 month and this video just made things easier, thanks!
Just got Razor, been eyeing it for half a decade, only recently got more serious about producing. Just splurged on stuff to help and Razor, keyboard, and monitor and subwoof was a part of it. Even though I have DJed for over a decade, only when I started to make the beats I realized how little I really understood the music I love. I can make the basses, but what I cant wrap my head around even while directly using a track as a reference I still struggle to get it right.
Can we get a dubstep / riddim serum pack with some good drum samples?.. + Project files... :P lol Its a lot to ask for but im sure I wouldnt be the only one copping that in a F***n flash. Just an idea
Please make a moving/ growling type bass video. ive been trying to figure out how to go about it but i just cant figure it out. heres an example from Loge21 song Flip the funk. the sound im talking about is at the drop. soundcloud.com/confession/loge21-flip-the-funk
Your „metaphors“ do not seem that good and to me it sounds lile you‘re overcompensating with trying to make a lot of things about sex. I would like to learn, but that‘s irritating for me.
Next video suggestion. It would be of great help of you actually made bunch of tutorials regarding what one perticular thing does or how to get started to electronic music production. What does each knob stands for and how does it affects the sound etc... thanx
You’re using a lot of terms I do not understand, is there an earlier video of yours with some explanations to these beginner ideas? Thanks man really like the video, nice and straight forward
Hey Zen world can u do a review on lmms both versions new and old it's for free just ripe on Google lmms and you will find both versions I use and the only music software I use cuz im por
ok it looks a little complex butwhat about after that i know like another sounds come it.. because its just not the same repeating it like for instance you see how you did that right now what came next another serum with a lead or another one with a growl and making it different and complex ?
i love how theres viewers disliking the video even when everyone that actually produces have different ways... theres no wrong way, so why is there dislikes...
Great video! Idea for another: show us a section you've made in ableton that has accompanying layers with it. IE: Drums/rides, separate sub, and 1-3 different sounding growls or whatever else may be in there (vocals?).
For all those beginner dubstep producers out there... the stranger the sound the more unique... the better... so of its weird u won! Thats all the point.... the freedom of sound design
