Battle bots and real steel have made me love robot fights, this is a great concept and I like where it’s going.

Depending on how realistic the boxing is intended to be (which judging by your description, purely clean boxing), you could take inspiration from the Real Steel console game I feel. That game had some genuinely really fun boxing mechanics that combined special move mechanics into it. Techniques that hit harder and felt nice to land but didn't take from the raw fisticuffs feel either because they were just overly fancy punches still. The Real Steel Console game also held the ability to tear off the arms or head to disable punches or score an instant TKO victory, with certain special moves triggering finishing move cutscenes of sorts. I think it'd be AMAZING inspiration to use for this game.

It's actually crazy what developers can do in roblox. I'm definitely excited for what will come out of this project!

Even if it's the first devlog, this game will blow up in no time, the animations, the models, the scripting, its all flawless, everything is so smooth, the way the feet rebalance when they walk into an alternate direction is truly amazing because that surely must've taken such a long time just for that.

Great job so far, this looks amazing! One tip I have is that in real boxing, punches are always very fast heading toward the opponent and then slowly retract. This should probably make the punches feel EVEN better! Hope this helped!

Man the ammount of times i tought about a robot boxing game i cant even count. I like the idea of items changing looks depending on their level or considering robots now swapping out limbs for fights some limbs being possibly better at certain attacks than others giving them buffs and debuffs.

This looks absolutely AMAZING. I really hope that this continues to go into development towards release

You should make the bots look more damaged as the fight goes on and they get more damaged

Really cool! I totally agree with there being a lack of good and polished robot fighting boxing games, and everything in the devlog looked super promising. One thing I want to mention is that the shoulder pads? shoulder protrusions? They obstruct the view of the robots head, which might affect the readability of the action, especially involving blows to the head. apart that from well done, and good luck.

Yo, Ink here. I was really really interested in this game and have been brainstorming ideas for days. I even made an entire sub reddit about the game. Here are some ideas. -parry system (block right before enemy punches) -ultimates 1. OVERDRIVE (a state of focus that works on every bot that buffs damage. But slowers speed by 15% after the "overdrive" state is over. Also has an E ability which performs a barrage with one hand. Overdrive activates after filling up the ultimate bar. Use overdrive by pressing X or the "OVERDRIVE" button on mobile.) 2. Fists Of Zeus The robot charges up its entire system, focusing all of its energy into its right arm, creating a massive shockwave on impact. 3. Speed Of Light Can perform up to 3 special dodges that does damage and has further distances than normal dashes. (basically looks like toji's flicker step from jujutsu kaisen) (has a dash meter that recharges after dealing some damage) -block system -dodge system -repair system Every damage, dents and scratches that your robot take from the rough battles can be repaired at an auto shop of some sort that will be used to repair, customize and buy things for your robot. I really wanted a robot fighting game in roblox so I'm glad you're making one, also if possible can you make parts of the robot fly out when they get heavily damaged?

BRO this is so cool, love this idea my suggestion would be removing the massive shoulder pieces that stick up or changing how big they are!

YO Reggie you should take inspiration from the Real Steel Xbox 360 game, I believe that It will significantly help you in your work as it is very similar to the game that your working on. It has mechanics like when every round ends you get to repair your robot for 30 seconds, a knockdown minigame where you have to time skill checks to get your robot up, and a rip-off mechanic if you damage a limb enough you can tear it or punch it off. PLEASE MAKE THIS COME TRUE !!

Looks promising already! Good job with what you’ve got so far, and I can’t wait to see how this game progresses :D This sorta reminds me of another Roblox game called Neon Knights, with its cyberpunk neon robot battles and it’s own custom art and model styles, rather than regular Roblox avatars. I like those types of Roblox games, with their own unique non-Robloxian looks and vibes, and I personally hope this one follows a similar route of not conforming to Roblox’s player avatars and textures.

This looks so exciting! I can't wait! Also if you can, try adding some sort of dodging system, or since you can modify the robot body parts have boosters that allow for dodges that would open up windows to deal alot of damage, and maybe implement a counter where if you time it right you can deal good damage.

This is a really cool idea! I think the swapping parts idea could work well by having parts change a general type of ability. Such as the core/chassis providing differing bonuses to Armor, Dodge Speed, and Energy. Or if the legs gave different types of boosts, like a zigzag boost that can disorient enemies, straights that are extra fast, or a short range jump boost!

THIS IS JUST REAL STEEL BUT FOR ROBLOX AND I LOVE IT! Maybe you could take inspiration from how some of the robots look in the movie and use that for a least a few of the robot parts you can get. Another idea is maybe add some different fighting styles the robots can use. (I understand this might be difficult to add) Like imagine your readying to fight and your opponent is using a boxing style like the shadow boxing in real steel and you can see their avi outside the ring. That would be sick! Cant wait to see what you do with this game and cant wait for the next Dev Log!

I feel you mate: dream games, overpopulated amount of ideas where one might forget, lots of math, etc. Also, when you do hit detection and all of that, try to use raycast and not an actual object (i used an object) for range because roblox typically doesn't register objects at perfect times, so good luck. Hey I saw this video and was very intrigued by it. I am currently a student of 2 marital arts with one being kickboxing. I think this is a game I would play and an idea I had was if you included multiple forms of martial arts into the game (maybe with a potential of MMA) So pretty much you could have different “classes” or “arts” that robots would be able to learn/ or naturally come with. These arts could include things like jiujitsu submissions and some kicks along with sweeps. Just something for you to consider!

Looks great man id play that alot also considering i like the move real steel. Your game with be just like it!

Looks awesome! Just one thing I want to suggest, with regards to the light color, please add some sort of brightness slider because there have been multiple other games where I pick purple as a color for a light and it's more pink, and then I cant do anything about it.

Hey! This is a pretty rad idea, and so I’d like to just toss out some ideas I had, which hopefully can get those brain juices flowing! 1. Like you said in the start of the video, you want this to be a RAW experience. So, maybe later down the line you could add a feature like parts breaking off your robot if you are too damaged etc.. 2. This is an entirely different style of game, but maybe try and checkout some more of the popular roblox boxing games like ubg for inspiration, whether it’s fighting styles, animation or mechanic ideas 3. Please let the loser’s robot explode after the match LOL 4. (Real steel reference pls) 5. And obviously, just a range of styles would be sick as well. I wish you the best of luck, and I’ll be tuning in for more!

This is awesome! I can't wait for more devlogs. As an idea: When one or the robots fall, the player has to do some puzzle minigame like connecting some circuits (like Among Us minigame of connecting the same cable colors) or "repairing" the energy flow of the robot (Like BioShock hacking minigame) so they can restart/ turn on the robot After that, you can spam the bottom so the robot stands up. Maybe the first few times the character falls the puzzle is so easy that a baby can make it and you have to spam the space key to get up. But after some few times you fall, the puzzle gets harder and the less you have to spam the space bottom. This can show how damaged the inside of the robot is and also making the player extremely nervous to see the time running and fumble the puzzle

you should add a feint mechanic, increase the skill curve a little!! Since in boxing the movements are quick and reactive, maybe something you press before the punch to feint. Forces you to plan your shots and combos -- like irl boxing GOOD SHIT KEEP IT UP REGGIE

This is rlly good project and I think it will have pretty good synergy with mobile too. If I am allowed I would like to suggest damage built over time. Like every attack a robot receives will show damage on it a little like sparks, dents, paint smudge etc. Also For an interesting loop why not try making it like if u beat ur opponent there is a slight chance that u get 1 of the parts the loser has (2%-5%) enough to make it engaging, risky and sweaty af. Hope this beast of a game comes out soon.

Looking forward to see how this game turns out. I wanted to make my own robot game on Roblox, though it was more general melee and ranged combat, combined with pve and pvp. It’s currently not gone anywhere as I don’t have the experience to get it working in Roblox. With this game, would you ever consider adding an item to the game like a processor core for the robot? Purpose being to allow the robot to change its fighting style. So maybe the robots could have their existing moveset to better fit a player who will sacrifice power for speed. Or maybe one who wants the opposite. You could even have processor cores to allow for unique fighting styles like martial arts to allow for even more variety in combat.
