I wondered about this film for 14 years till I finally saw it a few weeks ago...I grew up skating in Austin and the skate spots brought me in.

I feel personally attacked... haha. Great video, very honest. Me and a friend from film school in Melbourne Aus both decided its time to make a feature so we have begun a similar journey, so good to see we aren't the only ones! Wish us luck.

This is an amazing recalling you made! I recently made my first short film and I can really relate to a lot of the things you said. I shot the whole thing in high school over a couple of days and I was the entire crew and director and writer, editor etc. and I can definitely say I learned more in those couple days about making movies than i ever did.

This video brought me back to when I was working on my first low budget film. Unfortunately I didn't finish it. One thing is for sure. Money goes fast when you don't have someone who knows how to properly schedule and budget your film. There's a reason everyone on a set is invaluable. And a first AD cracking the whip is a plus. What did you shoot this on? A Sony VX2200 with a Letus35 adapter? I had a similar setup for our shoot. A Panasonic HPX170 + a redrock M2. Ah the memories. And the Trauma. haha
@earthlyexpat
@earthlyexpat 13 дней назад
@@tunnellightstudios5183 it’s all a learning experience that makes you better at what you do. My feature was technically unfinished for years until I went back in with a clear mind. Maybe you can do the same.

@@tunnellightstudios5183 oh and very good guess - it was a Sony Z7U with a Letus35 adapter. Canon EF lenses

Just finished watching the film, after checking out this video. Overall, I thought this film was really great. I thought the pacing, acting, the use of camera angles, unique stunts, and storyline was done very well. I also really liked the different locations too, and oh my gosh I liked how some of the scenes looked like an 80’s film especially that cafeteria scene (idk how you did it but that really sold me a bit 😂). Great job to the cast and crew 💯, and I loved this video too 👏🏾.

THANK YOU! 🎉😎 Q: is it legal to post a scene where prop guns are used w.o getting raided? 🚨
@earthlyexpat
@earthlyexpat 4 дня назад
I don't know the legality as it depends on where you are. NYC has strict gun laws so you may check, as does Australia where I am now. What helped us when filming was notifying the police first, even if you already have a permit for the location. Leave notices on neighboring houses explaining what's going on. Wear hi-vis vests. Once the cameras stop rolling, immediately cover the props so no passer-byers see them. Don't start walking around with them in between takes or playing with them. Also, think about if you really need prop weapons in the scene. Edit: adding in that it's good to have extra hands, post signs. Make it evident it's a movie in case someone stumbles up to set accidently.

@@earthlyexpat tysm for the reply.. problem is, yes NYC. I'm not even going for a big public scene.. just a quiet and quick (filmed in indoors/friends apt) surprise scene. Almost like a handshake.
