If you're planning on doing anther one of these, consider either adding more incorrect names to the list, pictures of characters from other anime/manga/games or remove the list with names entirely, to make guessing harder. For most Fate characters one can relatively easy connect the design with their country of origin, and then with the name.
The reason why Ozy is a Rider is because he has Ra's Boat "Mesektet: The Solar Ship of the Dark Night" that is supposed to carry the sun across the world. As he is supposed to be the son of Ra as well as the incarnation of Ra himself, he can call upon this boat to shoot down beams of light from the sky.

Well, there is no real reason why Bunyan's a girl, even she doesn't know, but it's most likely because she was created by the eldritch monstrosity known as Gudako out of udon, grail mud, and QP. It makes even less sense in context.
so, we don't quite know why Drake is a woman, but the biggest theory (to the point it's even acknowledged in game in a "wink wink, nudge nudge, kind of way) is that sometime, the actual Francis Drake and Elizabeth I actually swapped places. as for what Drake did, he was the one that beat the "invincible" Spanish Armada, as well as being the first English man, and one of if not the first people to circumnavigate the globe. as for Saber, the Artoria-Altria mix up is a translation issue, not an age up thing or anything. her name is based off of the latin Artorius, so the older content uses the translation of Artoria, but the because there is no distinction between L and R in Japanese, and if you say it fairly fast it sounds the same, so Type moon has gone fore the shorter version recently.
as for Ozy, it isn't theorized about nothing; he outright states that Moses is his brother(and that he and the MC have absolutely nothing in common with each other). as for why he's Rider, he's supposed to be the incarnation of Ra, and that gives him access to Ra's sun barge. Marie is a Rider, with the crystal horse being her NP and Romulus' spear thing is apparently linked to something about a tree and the hill upon Rome was founded? Jack isn't the manifestation of all the women he killed, but rather the wraith of all the aborted fetuses that were tossed in the river Thames

On Bedivere, his arm was never cut off as something made up in Fate. I don't remember what happened to it but it is missing in the myths/legends as well. Excalibur being turned into an arm for him of course is Fate.
The actual reason for why Jack the Ripper was a loli is because they’re a manifestation of the cruelties of Victorian, industrial England made flesh through the souls of all the children who died on the streets during the period. Which is also why they keep searching for a mother whenever they are summoned.
There's also important to point out that she could even not be the real Jack the Ripper, she's just one of the plausible theories (with some grounds because these vengeful spirits existed). I'm so happy there's a Berserker Jack that justifies the existence of multiple Jack candidates and theories.
My own head canon for Assassin Jack being a girl specifically is based on that that scene in Apocrypha where you get the reveal about Jack being that manifestation, we see a girl who resembles Assassin Jack basically kill her prostitute mother. Due to that specific tragedy the girl in question is the one who most closely fits the True Name "Jack the Ripper" and post the kids becoming a Servant her appearance was used as the basis for their Servant form.

She's almost certainly not the actual Jack the Ripper in-universe. The reason Jack the Ripper is so well-known is that they wrote letters to their local newspapers after their kills. That little waif is as literate as I am muscular (that is to say, not at all).
The reason Francis Drake is a woman is because, due to being a not so subtle romancer of Queen Elizabeth, in Fate world there was a theory she switched places with him after receiving a scar on her face and couldn't go out in public anymore. So even though Drake is historically male, due to this aspect of his backstory, Drake manifested as a woman, POSSIBLY even the image of Queen Elizabeth.
Actually, Drake was apparently manlier than the men of her crew, so they treated her like a man, or they would feel inadequate. The Queen Elizabeth thing was just a Fate/Extra thing that was never mentioned again.

Romulus spear is a tree. It literally says in his NP. Julius can't have the Ruler class for lore reasons (not accounting for Type Moon made up reasons). Rulers are usually Saints, like Catholic Saints, except for the aforementioned made up Type Moon shenanigans for exceptions. Marie in her swimsuit form is Caster. The one showed is a Rider.

Even Paul Bunyan doesn't know why he is a giant anime girl. That's in their summon line lol And no, Napoleon is SUPER good. He has big damage support for the party all across the board, he can charge his NP, he can bypass invincibility and other defenses and his NP damage is very honorable. The only thing he lacks is any form of survival tools. Not great to pick as a Friend Support, but having yours is awesome!
The main problem with Napoleon is that while he’s not Bad per say, he’s just outclassed by almost every other AoE buster archer and there’s a lot of really good ones. If you have a gil, and Ishtar, or even Tesla, it’s hard to justify going for Napoleon unless you like him (which is he great).

I believe the main quality of a Ruler class servant is that they can't want anything for themselves. Which would ironically exclude most political leaders.

Because the ainsberns cheated again as always and summoned a ruler class (instead of avenger angry mango in the main timeline), BTW if amakusa is not summoned. As ruler he's actually really weak as in 7th singularity he got off screened by jaguarman
@@harryhung8263 Yup. In the Apocrypha timeline, instead of summoning Angry Matthew (props if you get the reference), they summoned Shirou Amakusa. But his war went undecided because Darnic stole the Grail. But because Shirou Amakusa remained afterwards, as he's provided infinite mana by the Grail itself due to his unique Class abilities, he then existed in the world up until the Great Holy Grail War, watching first hand the atrocities humanity committed against itself, which is why he sought to manifest everyone's souls using Heaven's Feel, to free them from their earthly desires and help them reach salvation. Fun fact, this would also mean that the Apocrypha Timeline Holy Grail was never corrupted. Meaning that it should have been impossible for Jack the Ripper or any other Servant that is more of a villain or anti-hero to be summoned. No joke, Jack the Ripper actually should not have existed in the Great Holy Grail War at all, because the major lore event in F/SN that allowed Servants such as Gilles de Rais, Medusa, Vlad III, True Assassin, and Jack the Ripper herself never happened. Angra Mainyu was never summoned, meaning the Grail was never corrupted upon his death. And yet, somehow, Servants like Jack the Ripper are still capable of being summoned. This actually either implies that the Grail was corrupted in some way from the beginning, or is a massive plot oversight in Fate/Apocrypha.

My guess would be that Ozymandias has resonance due to the poem that declared him "King of Kings". (which is also his title in Fate Lore) Iskandar I feel is similar. The name more thoroughly encompasses his "King of Conquerors" title. When he was merely a young commander in Greece he was called Alexander, it was when his foreign subjects called him Iskandar that he was truly a Conqueror. That's why I believe his younger form in FGO is called Alexander while his Older form is Iskandar.
The Ruler class doesn't really have anything to do with ruling a kingdom, state, or country. Think about it majority of servants are kings/pharaohs/emperors and none of them are rulers with the exception of Christmas Quetzalcoatl. While the other Rulers like Jeanne, Sherlock, Amakusa, and Martha never lead anything outside a small group of people
Fate servants designs are based on certain specific parts of their famous stories/lore/history along with the "what if scenarios" & "theories". Hence, the multiple classes of Fate. (Saber, Archer, Lancer, Rider, Caster, Berserker, Assassin, Avenger, Ruler, MoonCancer, Alter-Ego, Foreigner, Beast, Pretender) Fate servants are pretty much a caricature of the original people/character that they are based on. Also the artworks of various servants in Fate Grand Order are from multiple artists who made them. Hence, the difference in the art styles of every servants. Francis Drake's design in Fate is based on the rumor that Drake was actually the Queen in disguise.. Francis Drake is famous for defeating the Spanish Armada.

funniest thing about Gilgamesh is that he never had Ea in his story, Enuma Elish is the name of the Babylonian Creation Myth, and Ea is one of the Gods, the Sword itself is actually in his vault on pure technicality
The Sword of Rupture itself is very significant but it doesn't have a name so Gilgamesh himself names it "Ea" and its attack "Enuma Elish" for thematic appropriateness with what the weapon can actually do.
The merlins and fairies aren't part of the round table and all the actual knights do classify for Saber class, the few on fgo that aren't just usually don't get summoned as one cuz other classes fit their most famous feats better but if you were to summon Tristan as in a regular grail war and only the Saber slot was free then yeah, he'd be a saber no problem, same goes for Gareth and Galahad Usually the requirements for being a saber are either having a legend related to either a sword or sword skills and all of the round table members can be related to Excalibur and most of them were mentioned to be proficient at sword play

A bunch of characters that look, or have names referring to Arthurian legend are not sabers as they have been summoned in game. A layman would assume "Round Table" meaning broadly "Arthurian". Thus Merlin and characters that look like knights will confuse them. So if the same person was to try and guess based on that statement alone they would guess saber and be incorrect. Which would be annoying for me as a viewer because the statement wasn't very informative or helpful for the guesser and makes them worse than they might actually be. When teaching someone, you need to be cautious in your wording as you no longer have their perspective and need to phrase what you say correctly if you want a positive result from teaching them. They will pick up on things you won't because they are learning. You will ignore such common logical assumptions because you've already learnt the lore. And when the topic is, "what class is this character in-game?", telling them how in-lore the class system works in direct opposition to the current class is unhelpful and meaningless to the current topic. Saying they could all be saber is unhelpful when the person is trying to guess Tristan's class which is archer. If the guy does another video with the same friend and asks him to guess one of those aforementioned characters, they will likely guess wrong if they remember that statement. The statement is categorically wrong when in reference to the knights' classes in the actual game and will make the guesser wrong too.

Julius Caesar's design I find hilarious for multiple reasons, for one Ruler class "servants" are summoned only to refree he and holy trail wars, like how Joan of Arc was in Aprothica, so imagining him in her place is hilarious, and knowing that historically, one major thing that man did was get it on with Cleopatra, so that pot belly puts a lot of imagery from the second Austin Powers movie, where Fat Bastrad slept with the Blond American spy.
As every fate fan is crawling out of the woodwork for this guess I'll leave my 2 tidbits in as well. I think of the fake servants you put in the video ironically all except Michelangelo unless I'm mistaken have designs. Sun Wukong is actually a servant, in the FGO Learning with the Manga joke manga spin off, so it's a bit weird as he's on that border in terms of technically an FGO servant, but not one that's actually in the main game, kinda comparable to FGO arcade exclusive servants maybe in that they under the FGO umbrella but aren't in the mobile game. (Really wish he along with some of the arcade exclusives were in main game, like Proto-Merlin, Christmas Suzuka and Sita). The rest of the fake servants as mentioned have designs either due to the Greek Lostbelt, or Moses due to Ozymandias side lore/ Prototype lore I think?
I think instead of just saying the class Ruler, you should have specified that the Ruler class are composed of servants that do not want the Holy Grail, rather, they function as anchors assisting the counterforce and are summoned when Holy Grail Wars become unstable. The only reason why a ruler wasn't summoned in stay night (ESPECIALLY Heaven's Feel) was Because Angra Mainyu corrupted the Grail, making it's particular functionalities unstable, thus preventing a Ruler from being summoned to set shit straight.
Yeah, Rulers are sort of a last line of defense for the Grail War system, meant to be summoned to correct and mediate things in the event that a Grail War gets out of hand, before the actual Counter Force itself has to step in and resolve things itself. Which, if we know anything from Archer, means that the Counter Force would have ordered the immediate termination of all sentient life in Fuyuki. During the Third Holy Grail War of the F/SN timeline, the Einzberns, seeking to win the War by any means necessary, took advantage of a failsafe system in the Grail to summon a Servant from outside the standard seven classes. This was Angra Mainyu, the Avenger Class Servant. However, he was the weakest Servant in the War, and upon his death, truly became what he had been called upon returning to the Grail. All the Evil in the World. This irrevocably and irreversibly corrupted the Grail, causing any wish it would grant to pervert itself and go horribly wrong (i.e, Kiritsugu's wish was to save everyone, and create a world without conflict. His method to do this would be to kill the few to save the many. He would have the Grail kill all who were evil in the world, and spare those who were good. The corrupted Grail would pervert this wish, killing everyone in the world except for Kiritsugu, Illya, and Irisviel) as well as disabling several of the Grail's failsafe systems. Among the disabled systems includes the capability to summon a Ruler Class Servant, something that could have been desperately needed during Heaven's Feel, as well as the failsafe ensuring only True Heroes could be summoned. This is why Gilles de Rais, Medusa, and True Assassin can all be summoned after the events of the Third Holy Grail War, because the Corrupted Grail, unlike the uncorrupted version, is capable of summoning Villains and Anti-Heroes. Fun fact, this also means that Vlad III and Jack the Ripper should not have been summoned in Fate/Apocrypha, as the Einzberns in that timeline's Third Holy Grail War summoned Shirou Amakusa, a Ruler Class Servant, instead of Angra Mainyu. Meaning the Grail was never corrupted. Meaning it should have been impossible to summon anyone who wasn't a True and proper Hero in Fate/Apocrypha.
@@brandonhawker6597 I believe the issue with Villains/Anti-Heroes was more that it was an intentionally built-in limit of the Fuyuki Grail to filter them out that was removed by the corruption, but Darnic removed that filter alongside the "All Assassins are Hassan" filter when he stole it. Aside from that though, Vlad III was considered a heroic figure in his own country.

@@camil3545 And regardless of anything else, the Apocrypha timeline Grail seems to operate off the same rules as the F/SN Grail, which it just straight up shouldn't. The fact that it *can* summon a Ruler Class Servant suggests all failsafes are in place, as the Grail hasn't been corrupted by Angra Mainyu, which is completely true as he was never summoned in the Apocrypha timeline. Despite this, the Apocrypha timeline Grail can still summon Anti-Heroes and Villains. This raises a plot point issue. If the Grail isn't corrupted, then the Failsafe preventing these types of Servants from being summoned should still be in place. Yet, it isn't. This leaves us with four conclusions. One, the Apocrypha Grail simply never prevented Anti-Heroes and Villains from being summoned in the first place. Two, it was corrupted in some way, prior to the Great Holy Grail War, but not to the same extent as the F/SN Grail was. Three, Darnic did something to it in between the Third Holy Grail War and the Great Holy Grail War. And fourth and final, the writers either ignored or forgot this plotpoint, and as a result there is a glaring plot oversight going on through all of Apocrypha.
@@brandonhawker6597 I believe that Darnic messing with it is the "official" reason, though i don't know if it was something in the original LN or added later on in side material. Still, people messing with the Grail's rules isn't new, Medea screwed with the rules to summon "Kojiro" when Hassan was supposed to be the only valid Assassin for Fuyuki wars, and even with Angry Mango, his corruption of the Grail was said to have taken place AFTER his defeat meaning that the Einzberns summoned an Anti-Hero Extra class Servant before the corruption even happened.
I've considered getting into the fate series a while back either via fgo or the anime but I didn't have time to play another daily grind gacha while the fate anime series just felt convoluted by how many videos tried explaining it so I ended giving up on it. anyway I tried playing along as someone who doesn't really know any of the fate characters besides female arthur/artoria, gilgamesh and astolfo who I randomly saw every now and then, and I'm surprised that most of my guesses based solely on their looks and backgrounds ended up correct besides achilles and francis drake.
Blackbeard's thing was a tactic in the singularity, but in Chaldea he actually IS that into all the stuff. He's still ruthless underneath that, however, which works in his favor.

Ah David, one of the most if not the most neglected Servant in FGO. Took 'em 2 years after his release to give him a Servant Quest, another 2 years to give his NP anti-giant damage and last I checked he's still using those crappy Year 1 stock animations.

The naming is dumb. It's only named as Archer to be consistent with the other knight classes. It should be named "shooter", instead, since the class is for those who're proficient with projectiles, no matter what it is. That's why David is an Archer. Because of the rock throw thingy being his Noble Phantasm.

Fun fact: berserker Vlad III is actually the Lancer Vlad from Fate/Apocrypha (The same sereis where Achiles and Jeanne D'Arc is from). The Lancer Vlad in FGO is the actual 'Zerker Vlad from Fate/Extra (The same line as Nero). Don't know if anyone has said this before so I'm saying this now
1. Lu Bu is historically famous for using a polearm yes but more so for using ALL weapon type, his nobel phantasm have him use all type of weapon at once. 2. Romulus is a Lancer cause it is in his name, thus grand Lancer Romulus.
Yeah it's actually a pretty big plot point that Lu Bu isn't a Rider. It's the class he's most suited for as he was legendary as a horseman with his steed Red Hare. But he's also infamous for betraying practically every person he's ever served under, so he's essentially considered far too dangerous to have as a servant unless he's been deprived of his wits as a Berserker.
Beserker Lancelot, by logic of the title Alter, would be the Alter version of Lancelot. An Alter form is typically the worst possible eventuality. Saber alter went full tyrant, EMIYA alter made guns his primary weapon, the very antithesis of who he is. Lancelot is a knight, held to the highest moral standards, to become a beserker over his own guilt for, as he sees it, betraying saber would be the worst thing to happen to him.
Doesn't explain Okita Alter, especially considering that technically the Shinsengumi dissolved into basically demonstrating the difference between regular brutality and police brutality. On the other other hand, Cu is a blood knight, but Cu Alter is basically just numb to everything but carnage.
@@Chronopie Cu Alter the servant isn't the "real" berserker form of Cu though. He's a twisted, idealized version made from Mebd's wish. There is another berserker form of Cu out there that's been mentioned, but he hasn't been revealed in canon.
To be fair Alter form is more of a "reversed morals", so technically would could have an Evil guy whose Alter form is good, but yeah so far we only saw Evil Alters
@@kaein2973 or probably because the world just don't allow him to be summoned as a caster, I heard somewhere that if he was summoned as a caster he is able to uncover any mystery, so to make him more neutral and not able to unsolve every mystery he was summoned as a ruler.
I believe the Fate explanation for Jack the Ripper is that the collective spirits of the aborted babies of prostitutes discarded in the Thames. So many died that their resentment was recorded to the throne of heroes and tied itself to Jack’s legend. The throne did it because It had no identity to link the legend to in people’s minds and the girl is not even sure if she really is Jack.
This is kind of true, but it's missing the vengeful spirit part. That was confirmed to be real, that they amalgamated into one or more spirits that went about killing people. It was around the time, so they got lumped in as a possibility for Jack the Ripper.
She's a Rider because in Fate Lore Posiden gave her Pegasus as a gift (they were consensual lovers too), and because that's an event that represents her as an adult but before she became the Gorgon to protect her sisters from perverts.
