I don't think I've ever seen two reactors who are both so endearing from the first few seconds of the video haha. Love how genuinely expressive you both are, and if Kim is already getting teary eyed at quiche I'm excited to see her experience with the rest of Feelsmetal alchemist.
I normally recommend that reactors watch in whatever is most comfortable, so they can focus on understanding and reacting to the show. I will say this has a great dub, so that shouldn't hold you back. Enjoy the great journey ahead!
Absolutely watch it in dub. Universally accepted as one of the best anime dubs ever. Also, this anime is a fantastic anime reaction. If it's dub, I know I'm not alone in saying I will watch and like every single episode.
I don't accept it, seems I am not in the universe for you. And you don't have that research, data or info either; you just think so. What is universally accepted is that's the feeling of "nostalgia". Let's scream "we are all human" in Ed's voice.

I watched this dubbed when i was a kid like most other anime on TV, but as an adult i became a sub elitist- but i will still always love fmab dub. There are some voice actors and performances that i cant imagine watching it without

Yeah I watched it as dub way way back in the day too. Im sure the JP voices are great, but I almost dont like it that way. Probably nostalgia, etc etc, but nah its a great dub.
There are plenty of fantastic dubs out there and, if you ask me, dubs will generally be superior to subs when the acting is good as it lets you eyes and brain do something other than read. I'm a fast reader, so subs aren't a problem, but multi-tasking is always going to be a detriment to simply enjoying the medium *without* having to read every line of dialogue.

It's a preference thing, but sub only fans act like it's a matter of right and wrong, or better and worse. If you only watch subs, you don't even have a point of comparison. God forbid if you've only seen the dub of their favorite anime. They'll disown you as a friend over that shit. Or they'll demand you watch the sub. Ask them why, and they'll adamantly declare that it's better than the dub, having never watched a single episode of the dubs. You can have your preference, that's fine. But don't be dicks about it.
I watch anime in 3 languages. The og Japanese, english, and Spanish, and this is one of the only ones i dont watch in sub. The dub is so engraved in my heart that I can't watch any other way The dub va's even had so much fun they recorded bloopers
The dub for this and Cowboy Bebop are superior to the sub. Also Ghost Stories, but not for the easily offended. It’s essentially a parody of the original. Basically a 20 episode blooper reel.
They're not butchering them. That's just how they're pronounced in Japanese. It's like when you say Beethoven in English, you're not trying to mimic the original German pronunciation. There's a set Anglicized pronunciation of the name and everyone who speaks English adheres to it.
⚠ NOT SPOILERS, READ TO AVOID MISSING IMPORTANT DETAILS IN FUTURE EPISODES ⚠ Episodes 6, 8, 28, 29, 30, 32, 33, 36, 40, 42, 43, 44, 46, 48, and 49 have scenes after the credits; they are sometimes just fun little vignettes, but often they include significant details that will be relevant later on, and that might make some future events confusing if you haven't watched them; it's therefore highly recommended to watch them. If you don't have this list at hand, just look at how much time is left in the video when you get to the credits; if it's more than usual, there's almost certainly a post-credits scene. Furthermore, the credits in episodes 45, 54, 63, and 64 are different than usual, and worth watching (especially the ones in 64, which everyone will probably be expecting a reaction to).
Dub is good for reactions. If I'm reading the subtitles I can't watch your face. Also my wife has dyslexia which makes sub impossible for her unless she wants to pause every few seconds.
Definitely keep with the dub. I'm also pretty much a sub only watcher but FMAB is the ONLY anime I prefer in dub. The dub for this show definitely had a lot more time and care put into it compared to most.

Choosing the dub is always problematic, even though people keep saying that they love this dub, for one simple reason, dub watchers will still watch sub reacts, but sub watchers will not watch dub reacts. It's the main reason why fmab dub reactions get low numbers, reactors getting fooled by a few peoples nostalgia.
I just never understood why people are so opposed to one or the other. Because they both have decent flaws. Japanese being the translation and not being able to use your ears for exposition but it’s more authentic and sounds nice. Dub being the voices almost never fit the character or feels off but the dialogue is 100% almost always better. I always watch it in both generally either switch on rewatch or reactors usually watch it in sub so I tend to start dub nowadays. I feel like most people started with dub because that’s what streamed back in the day and was the only option unless you watched online and found Japanese version. at least in America.
I watch subs myself. in general for reaction channels by native english speakers i would recommend the dub as it is easier for viewers to follow and less time reading subtitles means it is easier for the reactors to react in a reasonable time. that said there are 3 anime i strongly hold the dub to be superior to sub. fmab, death note, and yu yu hakusho. the first 2 are very accurate dubs with few mistakes by an absolutely legendary voice cast. yyh has an even more legendary cast but i'll admit the dub is not accurate to the original in tone or direct content. it is far superior. the japanese dub is nearly unrecognizable as the same anime and is far funnier and better timed. the japanese sounds like kids being told to read a passage from a book in school. no timing or emotion present
Tbh I find people who act like there’s only one way to watch anime “and that’s subbed!” (Or dubbed… but that’s not as common) to be a bit annoying… it’s just the mindset of “it’s a dud, so therefore it’s inferior” that annoys me a bit. I think people should watch whatever they like and of course have their preferences… just don’t immediately dismiss the other version before at least giving it chance.
I don't agree that the dub is better than the sub, I don't think that's really ever the case, but I do think the dub is one of the better dubs in anime. My issue with dubs is that a single badly dubbed character tends to throw me out of it. I just prefer watching everything in the original language as intended by the creators, that's just my PoV.
I have no idea what meme you're referring to. I tend to avoid anything labeled as a meme since most of it now-a-days is either just loud or distorted to the point of being unintelligible.
I suggest you remove the subtitles. There are some subtitles that spoils the surprise. For instance, there are those who talk in the background but yet to be revealed - but some subtitles places the name of that character

As a french anime fan, our dubbers are fine and competent, the problem is that there's so *few* of them. You keep hearing the same voices again and again. And by that I mean more than in EN and JP.

Dub is definitely the way to go, especially for watching FMAB for the first time. I find the English rendering in the dub more natural and easier to understand than the sub. FMAB deals heavily with metaphysical concepts from the Western occult tradition, and since the subs tend to have a more literal translation, some of the alchemical nuances don't come through quite as clearly. That said, one of the reasons this show is my all time favorite is that it's infinitely rewatchable. I started reading the FMA manga back in 2003 and have watched Brotherhood more times than I can count, and I still find new layers and details every time I watch. So, if you enjoy it, it's definitely worth rewatching subbed as well. Also, since I didn't see anyone else in the comments share the list, these episodes have after credits scenes that you'll want to make sure to watch. Most of them are plot relevant: 6, 8, 28, 29, 30, 32, 33, 36, 40, 42, 43, 44, 46, 48, 49 There's also several episodes that have different endings from usual, typically different visuals with the ending song: 45, 54, 63 and 64
yeah plus there are alot of great dubs now and even some times where i have seen subs that dont do good translations compared to what the manga convayed but the dub actually got it right. so it really is a case by case basis
I can understand watching an anime in which the setting is in Japan, but there are quite a few that don’t so it makes more sense to watch it in dub. I mean why would a bunch of people who live in Latin America be speaking Japanese?
The english speaking voice actors and productions are now of such quality that I usually prefer dubs for anime now. Mostly because of how language works. There are frequently not direct translations for words or phrases, so everyone is on the search for better and better subtitles. Dubs allow writers and actors to use english words or phrases that more accurately represent the spirit of what's being said; even if it's not a one for one translation. Subtitles do not give you the authentic experience of a native speaker. A good dub comes a lot closer to matching that experience.
