I am glad I found a cool monogame developer, before, sometimes I felt that I use an unknown outdated framework that nobody uses

You have *very* quickly become one of my favourite game dev youtubers. Kudos!

Hey, FYI png supports arbitrary data chunks, and specs guides to ignore chunks you dont know, so the files are still handled well by any other app. I've embedded "sprite metadata" in a png in my own game engine.

this video reminded me that the reason i gave up on learning c++ was because of setting up the fucking environment. fuck setting up c++ environments i fucking hate doing that

This much quality from monogame devs, what a time to be alive, can't describe how thankful I am. Only thing is, with my job I can never find time to invest into this hobby of mine to learn monogame.

omg, I wish you luck. I'm starting my game dev carreer right now and I still on the first step: Getting annoyed with the engine. But I'm using Godot, the node/scene archtecture is really is for me who came from a Java/Python background : ) I hope soon I'll be able to share some games in the internet

Looking forward to your development. I hope you make your engine available for other devs, after the unity scandal. I even would pay for it ;)

As a shader writer myself I find "go write a compute shader to calculate my ip or something" quite good, though it would be easier and faster to just run it on a single thread cos you would have to split a really small task up (Its easy to get your ip)

I'm sorry for the bad jokes lol

Aha but I've got a super ip, youd need a 4090 running full throttle to find it
@AQGamedev
@AQGamedev 11 месяцев назад
I realize that doesnt solve the fact that itd still be faster single threaded just pretend it's a 4d ip or something

Man, I remember trying Monogame. I tried using Unity and I wanted to get more dirty with code, so monogame seemed like a good choice...And honestly, it kinda was! The sprite atlasses and the fact that you needed to loop over certain pieces to create an animation were really eye opening, especially considering I didn't use a lot of C# before that experience. This video is 6 months old but I hope you didn't forget about this channel because I was very entertained by your last two videos. It's like seeing Randy

So who gonna tell him about the export json data in aseprite ?

What he wants as metadata and what Aesprite exports is probably different.

This comment is just a boost for the RU-vid algorithm because I didn’t know what to say except something generic… This was one of the best game dev videos I’ve seen in a while, and I mean that!

I wish you luck with this project. Honestly sounds like a nightmare to complete 😅 I have been a Gamemaker dev for 6 years, I just can't imagine trying to build all that system myself, it'd take me years and years of pulling my hair out. Anyways, all the best. I'm switching to Unreal at the moment and learning 3d modelling at college, I figure even if unreal charges after a certain point it's worth it to be able to build 3d games more easily.
@AQGamedev
@AQGamedev Год назад
Thank you and good luck with Unreal/college! It's a great engine for 3d and pretty intuitive (sometimes) to work with. Blueprints are great for getting stuff running quickly.

I'm writing my own engine in better c# (java) and didn't know about the texture atlas trick, it's really decreased the gpu load

Very informative video but with respect to the content, you should chill out on the editing and jokes because it makes it hard to actually learn.

Love your videos! Please, could you make the music a bit more quiet next time? Because of high music volume and dynamic at times it's hard to hear you without concentrating on what you're saying (like on 4:21)
