The reason why its slept on is because its way way worse of a top deck than a lotus. You want to drop the lumberjack on T1, but after that it gets MUCH worse, and even on T1 it only makes R and G. It's a narrow card, and that's why it goes last.

It turns out lotus is a lot worse when it has summoning sickness, requires two different colors of mana, needs you to keep a 1/1 in play, and eats your land drop.

Hard to say if speccing on e-wit for time walk or yavimaya for Orcish is better, but time walk is such higher upside. Hindsight makes drafting pretty easy tho

@@geefron witness is better for sure, you also use lumberjack 1 maybe 2 times a game already enough forest for that, but LSV not mentioning the vision for the record is sad, he does it at times joking about unessery vision/combo picks

A. it's called speculating for a reason, you can't only look at the outcome and say the speccing wasn't worth it. It's about balancing the opportunity costs vs the chance that he would see more/better splash-able blue cards. B. All that fixing also meant the domain package great. You could say the early speccing in blue didn't just let him play pierce and ottowara but also kavo and brawler.

@@osiris201 Speccing U when its so closed is basically gambling on opening power. Not many single U cards that are good enough for a lumberjack deck maybe Oko.

Blue is the single strongest color in the cube. See both Ancestral and Time Walk as cards you'd love to be able to play regardless of what your other colors are. There are also plenty of great 1 pip blue spells, such as spell pierce or remand, that are very good additions to a deck which otherwise plays without counter magic possible. YOu -also- have plenty of multi color cards with 1 blue pip that you'd often be glad to play. Dak, Fractured, Uro. It makes complete sense to value blue lands highly for all of those above reasons.

@@BladedEdge123 U is the weakest color. Yes Ancestral Walk are good but don't require heavy investment. Remand is just worse Reprieve in a worse color. Uro is double U, otherwise you just have worse explore. Fractured sure fine card but theres plenty of good 5s. In this draft pack 1, 0 good U cards pack 2, spell pierce pick 3. At that point it should be pretty obvious is closed both ways. The upside of speccing U is just very low in your Lumberjack deck here. Obviously LSV can make anything work. But by the general population U is extremely overrated and drafted.
