when you move items back into your inventory your HP to max HP ratio will remain the same. so if you drop items that give you STR/INT, use regen items, and then pick them back up, you're getting more HP/mana back You can play around with it in demo mode - try it with vitality boosters and salves

Force staff saved him in many scenarios. Specially against a lich and a bunch of hard hitting melee heroes a force can be better than going straight for a 5K item which could fail if the enemy presses bkb and kill you. This is just my idea. Purge usually explains his ideas throughout the gameplay.
