In this video I make new Chrysanthemum plants from rooted cut flowers. I had the Flowers in my flat and I was surprised to find that they lasted well over a week and even a month later they still showed signs of life. So after taking a closer look I discovered that two of the cut stems had grown roots and were starting to grow leaves. In this video I prepare and plant them into a free draining mix to encourage their roots to form full and and become new plants. I have also seen this happen to cut Roses, and an established rose shrub was grown from the cutting, although its a rare event for cut flower bouquets to take root its worth looking out for as you may be able to create some new plants from it.
The next video can be seen here, where its growing strongly: • Chrysanthemum Update J...

The seeds grow easily in a sunflowers 🌻 so if they didn’t work and you still have them dried you can grow the seeds really easily.

@@NMW80 Hi! Unfortunately some big worms grew on my sunflower and the seeds are falling down after 7-10 days and I didn't thought about planting the seeds. I tried watching videos and i just saw the whole sunflower being replanted which I also didn't do coz I dont think that will work on my sunflower. I will try the seeds next time. Thanks :)

Neah Neah No worries 😊 I just thought you may still have the seeds lol. I remember getting some fresh sunflowers 🌻 and I grew heaps all around my front yard with the seeds lol and it was so easy. So yeah it’s a very easy plant to grow if you ever want to try it I think they grow from sunflower seeds at the supermarkets too. As long as you get sunflowers that haven’t been heated they will work.

If you dry those flower heads, you can brew a really nice tea from them! just add a few to a cup or teapot and add boiled water. It's really yummy!

Take ⚠️ caution on how many deadheadings you use for tea. Some people say to include stems as well, and I’m uncertain if there is much difference. Though I do know that if boiled when flowers are raw, not dried, the chemicals in chamomile/daisies produce an even stronger sedative that makes you sleep. Im still studying and researching this, seeing that I’ve experimented with different variables on taking and brewing tea. Though, I do believe the potency of the Daisy and Chamomile depend on if dried or not. I have taken many chamomile teas and Daisy teas. But, the first time I was too impatient to dry the cuttings of my daisies, I fell under a sleep like trance within 10-15 minutes and fell asleep for nearly 12 hours. Mind you, I was unaware of the difference it would make besides the after taste. Yeah... I would suggest not to add more than is needed. I used one flower per cup of water but I still felt some side effects that I’m sure isn’t a normal occurrence.

i know it's 3 years late, but i would avoid using flowers from stores. You have no idea what kinds of pesticides or herbicides were used on them. They weren't grown with being eaten in mind.

Very cool! I've heard that you can put chrysanthemum cuttings in water and they will root.

Yes, I did a few update videos, here are the links for them: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-y5AHVaxT7GM.html , ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-62mRkRMX8Mk.html and ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-reX1FfaGYqc.html . I also have a video about growing carrot tops: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-tSqYvJQBwr0.html One about Avocado stones: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-tHC7PCBgP3A.html I used two thirds multipurpose compost and one third perlite to give it better drainage as cuttings are vulnerable to root rot.

Did it work for your roses? It’s so hard to grow them from the florist as I heard they use hormones to stop new growth. But some places don’t use it.

what you have to do is to add some cloves in the water in which you've placed those stems ....but make sure to change the water after 3 to 4 days and as well as add some cloves discarding those older used cloves

Would using rooting hormone help? If so, would you use it before letting cuttings sit for a while in water?
@Gardeningat58N
@Gardeningat58N 2 года назад
Yes rooting hormone would help, I would recommend adding a little rooting hormone to the water when you first get the cut flowers.

Will this work on oriental lilies? I just bought a single lily stem with beautiful flowers on it, and though it is a cut vase flower, I wonder if I can get it to root?
@mariyaatanasova1556
@mariyaatanasova1556 6 месяцев назад
No. Lillies cannot be propagated with stem cuttings as they come from a bulb. Some Lillies produce tiny bulblets across the stem and these can be planted and will grow in bigger bulb each year. Some naturalize by making baby bulbs. Asiatic ones tend to be much more robust and naturalize. Oriental are fussy and they tend to not come back for me in my climate. Asiatic survived a very brutal minus 20 C winter for 3 months in pots. Oriental won't survive this.

is there an update on this? I received some very nice lilies in a bouquet and would love to hear if it's possible to propagate them and turn into an actual plant
@Gardeningat58N
@Gardeningat58N 3 года назад
Yes, the update can be found here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-62mRkRMX8Mk.html Its not very common for cut flowers to root, but if you notice the stems are still alive after a month or new growth appears have a look for roots.
