Nori-urushi and black lacquer is using a different lacquer. I use raw lacquer for nori-urushi, and transparent lacquer for black lacquer. Black lacquer is made by mixing the iron hydroxide. I put “Urushi” lacquer material in a ceramic bowl or a glass bowl and cover it with plastic wrap (Saran wrap). Plastic wrap must be directly onto the liquid so that the enzyme cannot be activated to harden the lacquer due to lack of air. I put it in a refrigerator and can keep in a good condition for about half an year. If I keep in a room, it will be 2-3 months. After these periods, it becomes hard to be harden due to change of nature.

@@fushimiurushikobo Thank you for your wonderful videos! If I prepare only the rice mixture (before adding the Urushi) how long can it last and in which conditions?
Thank you for your comment. Nori-urushi is not sell in store anywhere. You can buy Ki- urushi from Watanabe-shoten. www1.odn.ne.jp/j-lacquer/home_eng.html
