In today's vlog we make some Nutella peanut butter banana bread from Sally's Baking Addiction blog (link down below) we didn't have all the things we needed to make it the right way so made it our own with some chocolate from you guys and some nuts! It actually turned out pretty dang good! We also talk about some things we want to do in the next couple of days, we want to do a nature park day for sure! We also had to take some things to donate so Jenn got out of the house for the first time in a long time. It was good! Then we start making some pork tacos for dinner and Jackson ate some sweet potatoes. And we ended the night watching Knives Out and talked a little about some sleep issues we are having with the baby. From my experience, rubbing their eyes is the way of self soothing. My babies fussed wiggled and rubbed their eyes during sleep training. It’s hard at first but it gets better. Keep extending the time in between soothing him if you’d like. Let him have more of a chance at self soothing. You’ve got this! Your both doing such a good job and it’s a joy to watch you navigate parenthood. 🤗❤️👍

Sally's Baking Addiction is also exceptional for being educational. She takes you step by step through things like lattice pie crust or buttercream frosting - things that would otherwise intimidate a novice baker, but she makes them seem doable.

In regard to sanitizing surfaces and rides, nothing is 100% so we need to remember that, be aware and not overwhelm ourselves to the point of anxiety thinking about it. Does that make sense? Just use good judgement and be respectful of others space.

Former daycare worker here: something that I've seen parents use for children Jackson's age and older is a "starfish suit"; it acts kind of like a swaddle because it gives them that same sense of security, but doesn't limit movement like a swaddle does. Plus, it looks super stinking adorable!! The one thing to watch out for is overheating, because then they are essentially wrapped in an enclosed blanket. Might be worth looking into, though, as it would encase his hands and might prevent the eye-rubbing.

Try immediately wrapping the bread in foil and then leaving it until it’s cooled. Keeps moisture in! So good.

Three things: 1) You should make Chrisy Tiegan Banana Bread, which is definitely not dry and soooo good! (Btw the chopped chocolate works just as well as the chips/morsels if not better). 2) A good movie night suggestion is Dunkirk, Jenn will love it because Harry Styles is in it! 3) A Jenndoesit idea is you reacting to the Harry Styles Watermelon Sugar music video!

Babies and food; as a person that has never had children, when do they learn what goes in their mouth to eat and what is a toy or small object that you don’t eat? I guess for now everything goes in their mouth and they figure it out? Jackson is so adorable and it makes me happy to see his smiling face! Thanks for all you do to post these videos!

Using only baking powder and not a combination of baking powder and baking soda changes the recipe. Sally's recipes are amazing. I'm so glad I've found her thanks to you!

Yep. Adding 3 tsp of baking powder in addition to the baking powder you already added would make it like as dry as the desert! Such a precious baby! I'm so sorry about Bandit.

Try this one. My great grannys recipe. 1/2cup oil, 1 cup sugar, 2 eggs beaten, 3 over ripe bananas mashed to a pulp, 2 cups of flour, 1tsp baking soda, 1/2 tsp of baking powder, 1/2tsp of salt, 3tbsp milk 1/2 tsp of vanilla 1/2 cups chopped nuts. I like pecans. 350 for about an hour in the same size loaf pan you used.

It is the same recipe I use which was handed down to me from my Grandmother. I also add a cup of chocolate chips. I have never been disappointed with the banana bread So yummy and also so moist. It never lasts long in our house.

Baby wise is a great book for baby sleep training. I used it for my kids and it really helped with understanding how babies can self soothe and go to sleep.

Jackson's sleep behaviours are part of his sleep learning progression...he is finding his own sequence of sleep cues! If you do guided relaxation they often prompt you to tighten each muscle then relax. So he is tightening his fists and then slamming his legs to release that energy. He'll get there in time!

My daughter just turned a year and she still rubs her eyes a ton, but we use the Zip a Dee Zip sleep sack and it’s softer on her eyes so it doesn’t wake her up! The sack also is great for a swaddle transition and it’s cool for the summer heat! We put it on her for all of her naps as well so she associates it with sleep! And she looks like a little starfish, so it’s super cute, too! 😂❤️

I make all kinds of breads. Like pumpkin, banana, and different savory "quick breads", etc. I've noticed that if I let them cool completely and wrap them well in plastic wrap or put them in a big ziploc bag and refrigerate them overnight, it changes, not only the consistency, but enhances the flavor. I then just store the breads in the fridge between nibbles. Huge difference! Also look for recipes containing buttermilk. It gives your breads a nice flavor but also helps to make and keep them moist.

I highly recommend scrolling until there is a break in those online recipes. At some point it will switch formatting from text post to obvious recipe towards the bottom of their online post. I’ve been ignoring the prose section of those posts for years and it is so lovely.

For the banana bread your bananas should be almost black. They will be extremely soft, even liquidy, this really makes it much more flavorful! Try it. You will like it!

I'm not sure if anyone has recommended a Zipadee Zip to you, but we used one for our little and it was fantastic. She used one well past the age of 2. I loved that it essentially replaced a blanket as well, so we didn't have to worry about her having a blanket until she was more than old enough for one.

for those who make coleslaw I have an awesome dresssing. in a cup or bowl mix a half a cup of mayo or whipped dressing you can use vegan mayo too if you're vegan. then add 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar or i guess regular vinegar works well too and then 2 teaspoons of white sugar. then mix until smooth then mix that into your coleslaw it's so good.

Try squeezing half a fresh lemon to that mixture if using just mayo (not sure about the whipped dressing since already tangy) and use 3 packets of Truvia instead of the sugar and I love the apple cider vinegar best!!! Himalayan salt and fresh ground pepper to taste.

This is why I’m glad you’re not venturing out as too many people don’t seem to be taking it seriously enough, by not wearing a mask. Other Disney vloggers are going to Disney Springs and getting too close to others without a mask. It’s just not worth the risk, as much as we all love Disney and seeing you there. You can use plain baking soda for all kinds of home cleaning, like sprinkling in your sink every night and more. The big bags are useful! I think my daughter and I may try the banana bread, thanks for sharing.

We have followed you for more than half a year now (since we were gifted a trip to Disney that is rescheduled for NEXT September) and currently have a 7 month old firstborn daughter who does the same thing- kicking her legs hard on the crib or side wall, rubbing eyes and waking up, one wince during the night and back to sleep, needing to bed fed around midnight from sleep regression while sleep training........ it’s been a joy. To add to that, I just lowered the crib today and cannot transfer her from glider rocker to crib without her waking up completely since I have to reach so low. It’s been a lot during quarantine but watching you guys helps A LOT. Chocolate chip cookies made by my husband and a glass of wine after a long day while watching your vlogs? Win win! Thanks! We hope to see y’all while there for our 9th anniversary. September 2021!!! & Now it’s time to pay the price! ✌🏻❤️🥰

I've tried some banana bread recipes over quarantine too and my favorite recipe is from The Country Cook. It's much fluffier and less dense than a typical banana bread. Highly recommended!

Someone suggested going back to swaddling but as soon as we moved on from swaddling we got zip up sleep sacks. No need for blanket and he still felt contained so didn’t pump his legs as much. As for the rubbing the eyes I think he’s unaware and settling himself down. At least that’s what our son did😊Give the sleep sacks a try...Target has Halo brand among tons of others from reputable companies. They worked like a dream (pun intended) for quite a while until he graduated out of them❣️

I can’t believe Jen didn’t weny out since early March, for me having a long drive at least on weekends made all the difference in changing the ambiance and avoid feeling locked, in Orlando you can have a long drive enjoying some treat, music and still follow social distance. I have raised two daughters, a host of nieces and nephews and run my own daycare for years. Babies will rub their eyes more often than not when they're tired and sleepy. Slamming their feet down is just something they do when they're lying on their backs for fun. They sleep much better and longer on their tummies. Now that Jackson can roll over, he is good to sleep on his tummy. He'll soothe much easier on his tummy as well. Just make sure he has burped well before you lie him down. When you feel comfortable enough to do so, I suggest giving this a try, if you haven't done so already. ❤️

If you guys want a new mixer but don’t want to invest in a stand mixer (although you DO do a lot of baking, so it may be worth it!) I’ve had my KitchenAid Architect Hand Mixer for a few years and it’s EXCELLENT! Super powerful and still going strong! I love it, and it also looks great! Also, a tip for bananas. Frozen bananas really are the best for banana bread (that had already turned brown) because like Tim said (or was it Jenn?) they are the sweetest and will be super moist. To defrost frozen bananas, run them under warm water to soften, then slice the skin with a knife, put the bananas in a bowl and warm them in the microwave to soften further. If you want a healthier version of banana bread, I love Cookie and Kate’s recipe. And Jenn, you were SO right about food blogs always having the LONGEST write ups before actually getting to the recipe. And they ALL write in the same tone!! 😂

A little late to the game here, but a tip for less dry banana bread is to cool it halfway, then put it into a plastic bag, but don’t completely seal it, in the fridge to cool 100%. When something as dense as a loaf of banana bread cools, it also dries out. By putting it into plastic it captures that moisture and keeps it in. And yes, all that baking powder is not helping either. :) Thanks, as always, for the great video!

Everyone must be baking. We made Orange-Cranberry Nut Bread. Ours turned out too wet. (We were missing a few things too, used jc from small cuties oranges and Crasins.) We ate it anyway. Jackson is so adorable! He just makes us smile.

In your response for wanting to stop swaddling for sleep training. Sometimes swaddling is necessary for longer. My daughter had restless legs, they constantly moved so it made her sleep so irregular because it would wake her up. Her doctor suggested to continue swaddling to keep the legs calm and and prevent them from waking her up. She was swaddled up until she was a year, when I stopped the swaddling it was an accident, she fell asleep while I was rocking her and I just put her in bed, she never needed it again. You talk about Jackson's legs moving, so I thought it may be the same situation. She sleeps so soundly now, not leg movement, so in other-words, I believe the swaddle trained the legs to stay still.

I hope that you guys are doing well! That banana bread looked amazing. We use the zipadee-zip swaddle for our 9 month old. The baby can still rub their eyes but the hands are covered...so you don’t have to worry about them scratching their face. It’s like a wearable blanket. Thank you for all of your videos! Don’t go into Jackson all the time as soon as he wakes. Kicking his feet and rubbing his eyes is perfectly normal Baby behaviour just leave him to be fussing for awhile it won’t hurt him. He is conditioning you to be at his beck and call and that is also very Normal for first time parents. He has to learn to be by himself and sleep in the dark. He just such a lovely little guy and sleeping is another learning activity for him!

You may have already gotten a suitable answer, and this might not be feasible in Florida in the summer (we used it in New England in the winter), but the Merlin Sleepsuit was good for ours. It uses some padding to hold their limbs out in a star shape. It's also pretty silly looking. But it is pretty warm for the baby. And it isn't practical for non-bed sleep.

I always put a little butter on breads and muffins. My mom did that so for me it’s common to do that no matter what the flavor is. I can see changes in Jackson as he grows and my girls rubbed their eyes quite a bit and when Jackson fake coughs it’s probably he knows it gets your attention every time he does it. Lol enjoyed this vlog!

Make sure you always use super ripe bananas- the blacker the better. I highly recommend Bon Appetit’s banana bread recipe! Made that one last month and it is 👌🏽

Could I suggest that you try Jackson with a baby sleeping bag, usually 1.5 tog. It is used without any other blanket and may give him the feeling of being swaddled when he isn't. Our 3 month old daughter loves hers and is sleeping through now, lifting her legs doesn't matter and won't kick blanket off herself so will fall back asleep. Hope this suggestion helps! X

The whole fried banana bread Nutella sandwich bit made me cry with laughter. "Is that how Elvis died?" "Well, someone's gonna die!" just about killed me with hilarity! So funny!
