Intended to be the series finale of SpongeBob SquarePants, the show was renewed for a fourth season due to the film's success and the show's popularity. Further episodes were told to take place before the events of this movie. Alec Baldwin took on the role of Dennis because his children are fans of Spongebob Squarepants. David Hasselhoff's part was written before the actor was even approached. He readily agreed without reading the script, largely at the behest of his daughters. Tom Kenny's SpongeBob voice is more high pitched versus SpongeBob SquarePants tv series. Scarlett Johansson accepted a role in the film as she's a big fan of cartoons, especially The Ren & Stimpy Show.
@@AlienManFromTheOcean Season 1 I think is a little overrated. Episodes like Pizza Delivery and Arghh were funny. But season 2 and 3 still remain the best. Season 4-8 were great. But season 9-present are absolute garbage. So I guess I can somewhat agree with you.
