Wahannu Kalingga Same! Beside me watching Pokémon I choose you, no one ever gave a standing ovation for the movie. I remember the full theater clapping so hard for the movie, and I cried at the end of the movie. With Pokémon I choose you, almost every one I’m the theater cried.
@@butternaan. this have me crying in tears 😂😂😂 I can't take this type of shit serious everyone would be clapping and crying I'll be laughing choking on my popcorn at Everyone crying
Makoto Shinkai is a role model to all the creators out there with a dream who are starting out with limited resources and a strong belief in themselves that they can do it.
The oscars only nominate movies that are released that year in the US, even for foreign picture award no matter how many years they've been in rotation outside of the US, it's inside that counts.
Robert Rijkers That's actually false. Red Turtle, a film that was released in October of 2016 if I'm not mistaken, was nominated for an Academy Award. In order to be eligible to be nominated the film has to be released during awards season, which is from September to February. Your Name was released in November. The reason it didn't get the nomination was because anime, even the most gruesome of it, is seen as kiddish among Academy critics and voters. Which is also false and biased on their part, because this film proved the opposite of that.
It qualified for the Oscars(it received the necessary week long release in Los Angeles last November), but was not selected because Funimation did a poor job of promoting it. And likely for other reasons. Ultimately, it would never have won anyway. It's not an Oscar kind of movie regardless of how much fans love it.
Shinkai's my hero. I mean I am close of giving up my dream as a writer but when I discover his works; I learned that I should never give up and continue pursuing my dream so that I could make something like his films; beautiful and touching.
don't give up men. Especially as an artist. It will never be easy. You just have to believe that you have potential and keep producing good works. In the hope that one day, somebody out there would appreciate them.
Loved the movie so much. I've been wondering how in the world are the visuals for his films so amazing. The small details such as the lighting and shadows really does make a great difference. I also recently watched Garden of Words and despite it being such a short film, it was nothing short of amazing. Lots of emotions were felt during the film. I'm now currently on a path to watch all of his creations. Lots to look forward to.
Try watching his first 2 shorts.. you'll be blown away if you compare it to his current... like for real... he came a long waaaay.... oh.. if you notice.. he likes cellphones and train in his movies...
Check this youtube account : Mateusz Urbanowicz (He's a watercolor background artist, and made a couple background illustrations in 'your name') (if I recall correctly)
Ghaitsa Mahira Ariadna You're the 1st person I saw comment on it. I appreciate it as well. He made sure everything went according to plan right from the start. Genius!
He also seems to direct his movies and work very well. What he wants said is said without deviation, and ensures that the artwork lives up to and or exceeds his standards. I think his animation / artwork is very breath taking, and it's that breath taking quality that makes his work known before the trailers or anything even mention the director. From the very opening of the trailer...just looking at the artwork, you know it's something from Makoto Shinkai. I love how you know it's anime, you know it's animated, but everything just seems so realistic at the same time. I love this in his work. The cat short aside...but that was several years ago. Still, it was kinda cute and comical in it's own right. I really hope he continues, because from what I see, his work just continues to get better and better. The only movie I really didn't care too much for was 5 cm per second. While it was okay, it just wasn't as good to me as his others that I've seen. The place promised in our early days for example, to me at least, definitely was far better in it's story line / plot than 5 cm. Also, Voices of a distant star....only about 30 mins long, but still, imo, was better than 5 cm / second. There just didn't seem to be as much emotion put into 5 cm, so it never really connected with me the way his others have so far.
Lol yeah same with me and with "a silent voice" I literally lost my sh*t and bawled. My mom doesn't watch anime and was like : why r u so emotional about a fictional girl being bullied Me: *tears in eyes* hissssss
I had the privilege to meet that man years ago at NYCC...he was an amazing person...if only I had known Garden of Words and Your Name would be coming next ^_^
clouds are simple.. draw circles randomly then blend the sides i think and.. shade it.. shade is the most hardest part ;-; THEY GOOD AT BACKGROUNDS ;-;
SPOILER'!!!!!!!! that moment when she opens her hand and finds すき(suki) is the moment i lost my sh*t i mean i cried a lot at different times but that scene just broke me it was awesome so well done i dont have words to describe it
Fantastic movie. Very emotionally moving, almost made me cry. Everything's perfectly done: the music, characters, animation, story, aesthetics, everything.
To be honest, in the last scene when Shinkai was bowing in front of the audience, the fact just jumped out of my mouth that instead of him the whole audience should have bowed to him.
Makoto is such a beautiful soul. Your Name is so pure. And he as the creator of such a great masterpiece is so humble. For me, this is a timeless movie. Some day I will watch it with my children :)
Imagine pirate sites didnt exist. Youd have to book stadiums for that many people. This movie has been the only movie I've watched more than three times and would highly consider watching again. Your Name was truly a masterpiece that should be celebrated and remembered for a long time
This is one of the rare movies that gets just better everytime I watch it. And that's amazing cause this movie hit me in so many levels already the first time. I've also read the manga and really loved it too.
your name is one of the most touching heartfelt movies ive watched even though its anime it feels so natural its not crazy its relatable and warm if that makes any sense ive watched it 6 times it never gets old
Damn!! This video gave me tears... The movie gave me tears even after i watch it my 10th time... This is just the shinkai effect!! This movie holds shinkai's heart in it... Nd we cn feel it.... In every single scene of the movie... From story to animation everyone is super good!! Nd beautiful!!
If this doesn't give Shinkai some sort of edge over works like Miyazaki's then I don't know what will. This man is the definition of I'm going to do this and that's the end of story. His goals are meant for himself rather than making films one way just because his viewers want it one way.I believe the attention the movie has gotten is much deserved
Ah i remember this guy, Makoto Shinkai, a man that used to Animate, Create a story, directed, even voiced his own Anime. Now, he have people not just himself to work.
Really loved the hardwork put on the movie and i wanna put this on my number one list on my best anime movie but thats a second on my list the first is koe no katachi( A silent voice) which really affected me
Shout out to NHK World for making such a great introduction on Makato Shinkai. Surprised no one noticed the quality of programs on NHK World, especially those made exclusively in English like this one.
masterpiece , i never watched something this good , its totally on different level than other anime movies and shows , closest feeling of enjoyment that i had was Wolf children but as i said Kimi no wa is on another level , its untouchable and heartbraking...
Ikr?! It boosts my confidence about wanting to become a Professional Mangaka in the future. I'm not the only one dreaming to be one so I'll work my way up the ladder to reach that dream.
