making pellets from leaves 

@EarlyPorsche1 If You figure what an Oil furnace uses to make the same amount of Heat , Yes the energy output will be greater.

How do you mulch the leaves to the right size?

Will the energy output of a bucket of pellets be greater than the amount of diesel used to make that bucket of pellets?

Yes You can , You just get more ashes and you need to clean it more often.

What brand of pellet maker are you using and how many tons of pellets do you get out of it before replacing the die? thanks jz

Leaves are very dry. So even though you are making pellets how much heat will you actually get out of it? Or do you dry out your leaves first?

@TheAutoexchange If they where to dry It wouldn't make pellets , Most of the time you can get away with running them threw the mill , without having to dry them unless it rains alot, then you would need to dry them or mix them with another material that is to dry.

I used a lawn tractor with a vaccum system on it ." bagger"

Doesn't take long , you just need to take your lawn tractor and go over a few times , it will get them small enough to pelletize .

It looks like the pellets are pretty hot when they come out of the press.

the mill is loud yes but could have been quieter with a different exhaust , It doesn't consume much Diesel and someone could us Bio-fuel, And the wheat could be used for feed after , I use it to prevent the Die from blocking up and having to unplug the mill , Making pellets isn't for everyone ,

i see a few issues with this. First off its loud as all get out second off your using fuel to run the pelletizer and third your then using wheat that could be used as food to clean it.....I just don't see this being a sustainable alternative for most unless you own a farm or a lot of land .
