In the short video you can see some of the process and passion that goes into creating a working replica of a 17th Century Polish Winged Hussar knight's Breast Plate.
My business is Polish Hussar Supply Plus, a workshop and showroom specializing in historical recreations of primarily 16th, 17th and 18th century armor and accoutrements from Polish-Lithuanian-Ukrainian Commonwealth. We supply Central and Eastern European reenactors and living historians as well as collectors and museums around the world with a wide array of period arms, armor, clothing, leather work and gear.

nice vid got to tell you a historical fact though , the armor designs were officialy from the winged ottoman deli knights .. not officialy from the "hussars" the hussars took the idea from the turks back in the day.. so the polish people saw the style and they very much liked it , and adapted it on their own culture , the same goes for the scimitar that the polish people uses , another ottoman turkish invention that the polish people adapted and was using in their history until now .. don't believe me ? go search for it on the net :) take care

My grandfather, a Russian Ashkenazi Jew, became a lawyer and married a Polish immigrant, she had been in the US since she was 2, but her unfamiliarity with her Polish homeland had not distanced my grandfather's relations with the Polish community (which he had himself probably a few ancestors whom had lived and died in Poland herself). He, through some relation with my grandmother, had developed a relationship with the Polish immigrant community. He was born and raised in New Britain, affectionately called New Britski, and worked heavily with the Polish community. He helped secured citizenship, workers rights, and other legal matters for the Polish immigrants, many of whom had not known more than a handful of words of English. My father, similarly, followed my grandfather's line of work and became a lawyer himself. My grandfather had not allowed him into his own law firm, so my father created his own. But he shared his compassion for the Polish people, often dragging my mother aside to hear the tale of a Polish immigrant, whom had an accent that only my father could understand. I have no commentary on this story, it's my just history.

Would LOVE to see more videos about your working projects. I've always felt a pull and love towards armor and swords. When I found out about the Polish Hussars, I suddenly wondered if somewhere in my Polish genes there was a Hussar soldier. Maybe that is where my love comes from.

Hello, I love your video , I have a replica Polish Hussar Armor just like yours with wings too . Mine was made by Polish Armorers for the movie with Fire and sword , I had it imported by a friend in Poland who had connections , it is nice . I wish I could find a true functional Polish hussar sabre made in carbon steel and forged like the originals do you make swords too ? or just the armor. I am Polish too and share your love for Polish history and our Hussars.

If I were given a choice to choose between A samurai Nanban/ Hatomune armor and a Polish Winged Hussar armor.......I would go for the Polish Hussar Armor any day. It's a breath taking beautiful of art

I hope we had a Hindu force like them in India. We would have been so powerful by now. The rainy and humid weather was another major factor there in Europe which was favourable to the Austrians and the great King Poleski's special 3000 elite horse riding warriors - the Winged Hussars (inspired from winged Angels of Death in Christianity or Kaaldoot in our system).

@Smola666 ...WHICH - to be completely HONEST - is a big PITY! If we had treated the Cossacks as "Ucrainian Nobility" and let them be REPRESENTED in Warsaw, we'd spared ourselves CENTURIES of conflicts that BLED WHITE both Poland , and (let's be honest) Ucraine, too, and remained probably up until this very day - ONE COUNTRY. To be fair the Ucrainian big, aristocratic families, like the Wisniowiecki's became "polonized" BY THEIR OWN CHOICE - passed onto Catholicism and became (at least in name "Polish") so Ucraine practically LOST anyone STRONG ENOUGH that could have speak for her in Warsaw. Lithuania had the Radziwill's - the Sapiehas, the Chodkiewicz families, the "Crown" (or Poland itself) had the Sobieski's, the Zamoyskis, the Tarnowski's & so forth. Ucraine had NO-ONE to defend their interests, but if our (elected) Kings would have had SOME (AT LEAST) BRAIN - then they would CREATE a strong "Ucrainian Party" - loyal both to Poland, the Crown and the Commonwealth from "middle-class" - noble families, like (for example) CHMIELNICKI. AFTERALL -that's EXACTLY HOW THE BRITISH CREATED THEIR EMPIRE! By 1647 it was already TOO LATE, BY AT LEAST 20 YEARS.

+TenDropChris Hi, Actually the person I made that for will probably get one pieces or two a year so I don't have an entire suit to show for that breastplate. I will be making his back plate here in the next week or so. If you would like to see other suits I have completed I would be glad to send you some pictures or you can see more of my work on my website www.polishhussarsupply.com BTW I will be having another video released in the next month or so. It will follow me through making an 18th cen. hussar breastplate and focus on the young lady who I made it for. If you want to create it in the same way it was created then. Then Instead of joining the segment directly by rivits you should attach rivits (all rivits) on the inside to leather straps. It will allow for more mobility and will be more histocally accurate
