This is such a great informative video, I can't thank you enough. This is precious knowledge. I had kind of almost completely understood the LGPLv3 prior to watching this presentation, this video clears all remaining doubts that I had.
This is an excellent presentation on the topic. Still i would like to point out a minor error. The Qt OPC UA module is NOT commercial only. This module is also available as LGPLv3.
I would like to thank you for the usefull information provided in this excellent video. Just one question, what do you mean exactly when you use the term 'initial effort' in the cost comparison table for LGPLv3 licensing (35:53)? English is not my first language and I find this a bit confusing.
so many buts..... how about just make everything "commercial" and reduce the license cost to under $100 for less complex projects so startups can use it without any legal concerns?? Small companies do not have expensive lawyers to closely review such license conditions
It is easy to say "less complex projects" without any context. How would you define the term less complex? The perception of "complexity of a work" depends on person to person. One team's or person's 2 years work can be another team's or person's 5 months work and vice versa.
