There are several obscure Spider-Man film references in this video. Can you find them all? Also, slight correction: around the 4:29 mark, I meant to say “polycarbonate”, amending my previous assumption of it being too flexible.
@@mucusmovies8429 in the video he says that because he is an unemployed broke college student he had to go throw the cheaper path, unabling him of making a better web shooter
how exactly does a channel with this editing quality and content effort have less than 2k subscribers? I think the algorithm finally caught on, and this channel is about to blow up edit: 3 weeks later, 4.5k subscribers
I mean this in the kindest way possible, but you speak like a villain and I for one RELISH in it. Thank you for sharing your creativity, your dedication, and your process with us, you did an incredible job and I leave this video impressed by all of your aforementioned traits

The fact that its only him being broke thats holding him back is impressive giving this man just something as simple as a metal lighter could increase his chances of becoming spiderman this makes me want to study chemistry just to dully understand whats going on here
This video is really great man. I've seen a lot of similar web-shooters and web fluids that are similar but what I like is how you aren't purely copy and paste. You actually took the time to research and how your web fluid impacts your cartridges and found a way to reduce its structurally damaging properties. It's been a while in the web shooter community where a person comes in dedicated to the science and not the views that come with cardboard shooting out a string and a magnet
I am not Kidding i can see a real fully functional spiderman suit with all it's functions and all the aspects of spiderman coming into reality after 3 years from now🔥 Absolute BRILLIANT work here man!
Great video. If you check the old Marvel Universe comics, it tells you that the web fluid in the cartridge Spider-man used were semi-solid, and were forced through the holes of the spinneret at 300psi. The pressure forced the semi-solid to heat up from the friction of being forced through such small holes of the spinneret (If i remember correctly, there were 3 holes) that it somewhat liquefied, and the static caused the strands to coil over each other as they shot out. Once in contact with air, it hardened as you know. So at the very least you know that you need at least 300psi to get the desired effect.
Suggestion, I have been doing some studying on web shooters and if you shoot the webs through something that is spinning, the web will get stronger, a motor and a 3D printed piece plus connecting the fluid to the piece and connecting the button to the motor would definitely strengthen the web
Man I wish they made metal lighter cartridges.😂 I think it’s dope you’re using Polystyrene in your web-fluid, in terms of having a web fluid that dries almost instantaneously, polystyrene is a good route to take.
use some grey strong duct tape and wrap that around a couple of times so when it explodes, its contained and wont explode everywhere and will be contained in a minimal space and will just leak everywhere. i havent experimented it people and you shouldnt either but for Schizo, this is a tip for some safety precautions. its not the white duct tape, its that very strong one that feels like plastic and shines. then again since there is pressure, i think its better if u use it outside, and use some paintball covering on your face, use a safety precaution suit and some strong biker gloves or airsoft gloves.
These videos detailing attempts to make ACTUAL web shooters just goes to show that even as a broke high-school / college student...peter parker being a super genius (which he's stated to be in the comics) with access to a chemistry lab, could VERY believably create his own web shooters with enough time and dedication.
Look into micro nylon fibers and expansive foam to add into ur solution. And a dual nozzle (nozzle inside another nozzle) allows to change from a stream of webbing to a net. My designs are what i describe. I am also broke so my project is on the shelve atm till i can get some funds. I beleive with the nylon fibers and the exanding foam you get the results of a solution that is pressurized and can be a small capsule that has more shots inside otherwise.
This is a phenomenal sci-fi tech you've built here. Respect! -From someone who basically failed to understand how the lever works, and not even the web fluid which was demonstrated in detail.
I hope you've patented whatever youve made here. May be not as a spiderweb, but I can see multiple uses for this, as self defence weapon, as a pest control tool, the possibilities are endless. Don't let the big corp get you. All the best .
It’s been years since I’ve practiced any mathematical physics to aid in solving your issues so bare with my Neanderthal mind. There’s two simple ways around the concept of “ non explosive cartridges.” One is by taking inspiration from a whiskey flask but hollowing out a space in between four sides with an opening. Sure you could just by flasks themselves but they won’t hold up to the pressure. However after years of failed attempts prior to college I’ve managed to buy a replica metal cast set of web shooters from the 2000’s. The individual cartridges contained a bleeder valve imbedded into the design which would allow each individual cartridges to release unwanted pressures that could build up depending on the temperature distortion. The second solution is to use fiberglass with the tensile strength containing 3,000-5000 psi ( depending how many layers are added.) the safest solution would be the Ben Reilly second generation web shooters that mimic gen 1 ( being a singular bracelet over individual cartridges.)
Even if we're not a spider-man hanging in the air, imagine someone who actually made these web shooters one day saves people on the streets! Great way to catch a runaway thief
There are narrow/tall metal altoids travel containers you may be able to repurpose into cartridges with a significantly smaller chance of them exploding btw! Very cheap, just a larger version that may make you shift the specs in order to accommodate them
Just discovered your channel, and you've done some amazing work with these web shooters! You did make me wonder two things though about your current difficulties with the polymer. The first is that if you do switch to metal containers for the web fluid you could perhaps check if adding grooves in the 'barrel' of the shooter could stabilize the fluid even more or maybe even get thicker strands (just an idea though). The second thing is if you have looked at the possibility of having two wmaller canisters with each a reagens that when mixed forms the polymer. I know some super glues work like that. Anyway, keep up the amazing work, I'm looking forward to seeing another update.
Because he’s only been doing this for two years and because he’s only made six videos in his first year and eight videos in his second year well, thankfully he hasn’t even done it for an entire year bro is very young to RU-vid
In general we can get 4 different web-launching devices on any given human with 2 arms and fully functional fingers. If we combine all the RU-vid channels’ web shooters, between grappling, ensnaring, covering, and impromptu trapeze, we could make a legitimate vigilante.
what if instead of using just an adhesive compound you use a more reachable compound, one that would need the heat to function properly so that the cartridge would stay morbidly as a liquid and only solidify after the fact, I would suggest K2CO3, but the boiling point seems to be too high compared to other compounds that would be needed
Okay here’s what you need to get tensile strength for the webbing: so I was playing ps4 the other day and I noticed something, Pete’s shooter’s have 3 nozzles, so what if your shot three web lines at the same time, made a mechanism that spins the nozzles, and makes a firm and solid line
I have discovered that mixing a cold coffee with no ice like a proper cold like almost ice but not quite that cold and adding zero calorie sugar and creamer packets it’s creates a very very sticky cream on top that gets hard fairly quick might be useful 🤷♂️
You should melt any type of metal or something cheap like copper and then 3d print the cartridge ( obviously make the print bigger then it actually is ) then poor the metal in the holder. If it burns through do a little bit at a time. And to hold it in a certain place I would suggest a metal ruler depending on how large your cartridge is.
Have you thought combining two of the containers into one cartridge each containing a different fluid which would polymerize which each other? You could angle the nozzles toward each other and they would react with each other while being shot out. You’d probably need a third nozzle to apply an adhesive though. You’d also need to find a reaction with reactants that are safe to handle which might limit your options.
Have you tried combined hard/soft methods? For example some fishing line, spooled in, or otherwise passing through, a vat of moisture or uv curable polymer so that when ejected you have a sticky thread. Uv curable nail polishes are a good source of photo hardening pmma, you can probably throw in a bit more radical initiator if you're feeling frisky and want it to cure faster 😅
It is to my understanding that super glue doesn't really have a trade secret. It all just works. The additives on how they keep it from curing prematurely. It's just a very well sealed can and lots of pressure. Also with smaller tubes of super glue. That's why they're sealed completely with metal foil that you have to puncture. The last time I even bothered to check what the difference between loctite and super glue was. It's the concentration of the Cyanoacrylate to base liquid. I don't know how they do it. I just know that industrial strength super glue is strong enough to pretty much get you high if you sniff it. And immediately destroy your brain cells. Also don't get that industrial stuff on your skin because it will instantly bond. You think getting super glue off your skin's bad. Industrial strength Cyanoacrylate is on a whole different level
Have you considered adding a long chain molecule polymer fluids to the webfluid? This might have the effect of producing actual strands when expelled with the superglue.
Hey man, great work! Have you considered using a refillable CO2 cartridge (usually used for like airsoft)as the… well, cartridge? The ones I work with for my webshooters can handle about 6-700psi. Either way, looks great, thanks for the ideas! A college student’s budget is no joke lol
You ever plan on releasing the Stl files for the web shooter model? Also, although you are working towards improving the explosivity of the web fluid, I still highly recommend you switch to something far safer that won't explode the cartridges. You got me as your pinned comment on your last web shooter video talking about this. It isn't the acetone you mix with it that causes the cartridge decay (although that does play a part in it) but it's literally just the loctite itself. As said before that used to be the only thing I'd put in my cartridges and when it exploded I had to pull a shard out of my shoulder 🙃
To clarify, when I say acetone in this video, I’m still referring to what’s in the loctite spray. According to the SDS sheets, the loctite is comprised of anywhere between 30 to 60 percent acetone. There’s some other solvents in there, but that seems to be the main one. Sorry that you had to deal with that again. That must’ve hurt. Edit: Oh and for your first question, yes. I’m trying to organize all my stl files rn since i want to start a patron soon. But, you can count on me making at least one of those web shooter models free. (It’s probably gonna be the first one since they’re more universally sized and the new ones are sized to a super specific lighter that I’ve only found at one local store near me)
All right as a die hard spider-man fan I am now dedicated to learn more about science and create web shooters that stick and gloves that let me climb walls
While I'm not entirely sure on how this works the instant I saw the lighter cartridges I thought of the Scarlet spider web shooters which use a Co2 style cartridge for the web fluid. Is it possible to use empty modified Co2 cartridges to store the web fluid or possibly have them rotate on the metal braces to switch quickly between cartridges.
great video! i have an idea for a diff web formula. human spider made “polyestrene” web fluid where he dissolved styrofoam into methyl ethyl ketone which when fired out looked kinda similar to ur spray adhesive. however he used a spray bottle which was not pressurized. maybe the mixture might still rot the lighter cartridges but it’s worth a shot.
