Mate totally respect the decision to advertise on the channel, I feel pretty privileged that I can sit down and watch someone like yourself make these exquisite pieces (that takes hours to make) for free, IMHO the least I can do is sit through an advert or two.
I love how at first sight when I see you painting stuff on small spots I'm like "wtf it'll ruin it all" but then when you see the actual result it's just WOW so amazing 😂. Keep up the great work!
What an amazing piece. I think you sometimes beat yourself up about what you do, like the white water, and have doubts, but I love the effect it gave. You are a nature building genius!
These videos are really quite amazing! I hope watching these ads are still helping you out! I am glad I waited a bit for more of the Tabletop gaming videos to bunch up to watch in more of a row! I am still trying to get everything watched! Nice going Neil! Thanks!
Another amazing piece. You should carve the cave part in the back so adventurers could see the beginning of the cave behind the waterfall as they venture in!
I think it's heartening for all of us to see that, during all this uncertainty, people are using their strongest talents to push forward. And you're def killin' this resin water! Good luck, and thank you for sharing your great videos :)
I wish I had seen this method earlier lol! Resin and I have a love/hate relationship ;) So glad Heather sent me your way and I am wishing you a huge boost in your channel!! I love learning from Terrain experts... you guys are the realism wizards!
Hey thanks! Glad Heather sent me your way too! You guys make such cool stuff in that larger scale. I really need to try something in that scale at some point. You can just pack it so much detail! I'll make sure to stop by more often. Been on a bit of a youtube hiatus lately but swinging back into things.
I used this technique and I want to say it works great! Thanks so much for this information, it helped in achieving an awesome look for one of my crafts.
The water is a little too green for my taste, but overall, this is a stunning piece and your way to make a waterfall seems too good (and easy) to be true. I like the amount of white that shows on the final version of the waterfall. It makes the piece look more real. I can't wait to see the progress you've made in your other project. Hopefully, we will spot little Gandalf strolling along the streets of the town.
I just discovered your channel and I must say that I'm blown away by your ambition and positivity! Your giant terrain build with the Tabletop World stuff is a massive inspiration and an absolute beauty! Keep up the fantastic work!
This is great, I have a diorama that i have been trying to work out how to do the waterfall so that it will look realistic and this will work great. Hang in there mate, and keep going with your channel. All the best to you and your family from locked down Australia
I am just getting started in this hobby, and I find your videos a great inspiration. You are obviously talented, but it looks like most of your projects come down to hardwork and knowledge. Thanks for sharing
Hey man, good one you. Take those sponsorships and run with it, my guy. I will still watch your content. We understand your need for the sponsors right now, and maybe for the foreseeable future. No shame, keep the lights on and feed the fam.
On your sponsorships note in the video, I'm sure we'd all rather see a little more of that but know you're okay and going to be able to continue to make videos! Thanks for everything you do, these are always an inspiring treat!
Great video as always... You are an amazing source for crafting. I use your techniques in my own builds. I would love your opinion and any advice you might have. Thanks again
The man, the myth, the resin... Brilliant as always and all the best with the channel dude, I know it'll be scary with a family to support, but you keep this quality of work up, get out there doing a few more collabs you'll be top of the board! Love from Scotland!
Really nice, amazing how nice an effect you can get with such simple materials! Sorry to hear about your job... Usually not a fan of sponsored messages interrupting a video, but I understand that you've got a family to feed as well.
That's a great idea to use the cotton balls dipped in resin. It does bring the water to "life". How cool would it be to add a fish jumping in the deeper area! Would painted aluminum foil with those stretched cotton balls work also?
That would be very cool indeed. Something to think about for the next one. As far as the aluminum foil, do you mean inside the resin for added reflection?
Just found this channel a few days ago and honestly it's making me want to make cool terrain stuff so badly heheh. I've always wanted to try making one but it's always seemed waaay out of my league in terms of skill I'm really thankful people like you make these awesome videos to that help inspire others!
this video was exactly what i was looking for. making a scenery piece at the moment and its needs a waterfall! thank you so much. not only for this video but all the others you have made. take care with the fam and the whole situation what is going on right now. you and your channel are a big inspiration for me and so my channel as well. you motivate me to keep on making terrain. thanks alot! greetings from the netherlands!
Hey, no need to apologize man; you do what you need to do in order to make it through this. If that means sponsors then by all means put it in the video. At the end of the day, I feel like the content you provide is awesome enough that pretty much anything is worth the price for it to continue.
Hello! I love your work, it's incredible how you take care of even the smallest detail. What type of mold do you use to make the mountains? Any special model?
I just stumbled upon you and this hobby. I am a crafter and have a serious addiction to trying new hobbies. Lol. This one has everything I love...building, decorating and painting. Thanks for the videos. I have noticed that it’s been over a month since the last video and in the description it says that the video would be up the next week. I hope everything is okay with you and yours.
Thanks for your concern. Yeah, things have come up and I've been derailed from the channel as of late. Keeping healthy and I'm going to be posting a video today. :) I went and checked out your channel, very very cool!
Looks great, i would have used a little less of the cotton though. If you use a lettle less (or in smaller pieces) , you will have more control on the end result. Pretty good though.
I have just found your videos and I think they are amazing. I want to build a terrarium with a real waterfall but I need some lightweight stones large enough to make an impact but the only stones in my area are huge and weigh a ton or they are round river rocks, despair, despair. You however, have solved my dilemma, make my own rocks and stones using foam board. Who would have thunk it? Thank you so much for this insight.
Just a thought. Where the water falls would be where you would use the white. As it sits it looks like the water is flowing into the basin like a faucet. Add some splashing frothiness as it enters would be more realistic.
Yeah could be. I'm not sure what it is but I can't really put my finger on it. Maybe I just been to be a little more careful adding the white next time and be more spars with it. Definitely needs more experimenting.
it's a really great effect! but you should try to make the rock around the water wet! it's look super dry and at a waterfall everything should be wet and the rock near it should be glossy with water!
I love the quality of your builds and how enthusiastic you are about showing them off. It's so obvious you are really excited by your work. One criticism I have, however, is that your videos seem very disjointed and rough from an instructional standpoint. Perhaps scripting (at least in outlines) what you want to say would help the audio flow better and make it more organized? Anyway, thanks for all the great content!
If you were to make a hidden entrance in a waterfall would you be able to use clingfilm to prevent the resin from sticking to the terrain so you can take it off revealing the entrance? Perhaps the heat from the resin curing would make it melt so I'm not sure.
I have never seen that way of making a waterfall before - toilet tissue or single part fake water yes but not this way. I would be tempted to add a little white to the resin - most falls I’ve been near / in / under are not so green but the result is so so sweet.
Real Terrain Hobbies I think it’s going to come down to personal taste and trial and error. I’ve seen plenty of greenish water (normally duck weed) even flowing fast. Key thing for me to take away was the technique - best way of making waterfalls I’ve seen. For me that’s a big win! :)
Do you think a thinned white paint would work better than the Vallejo ground texture for highlighting the peaks? Or maybe a dry brush? Just a thought! Keep up the great videos, I hope everything works out for you and your family!
Beautiful piece, I'm so glad I found your channel and I'm learning a lot from you. Sorry to hear about your job, keep your head up everything will work out. In my opinion take out as many sponsors as you can. If this is your job you need to get paid 😂. If people can't understand that they are idiots.
Amazing video! And I think the white actually made it look nicer! And that's awful about your job, a lot of us are all in the same boat and I hope you find something!
i am going to steal this for my armies on parade diorama. I always was hopeful that eventually you can do it, to be a youtuber only, like my best boy Miniac. Didn´t think it would actually happen. Atleast not like this. Stay strong and safe my man. Better days are coming!
Never would have thought I would have been thankful to see a RAID ad, but glad to see that you are able to partner with them in advertising to help you and your family first, and then for the channel as well!
it isn't super realistic, but the movement and visual volume of the water gives it a real presence and the white cresting water and color tone really gives it a character that fits nicely into the fantasy setting.
If you read this what is the best foam to use because I want to start doing this hobby but I have no clue what foam to use please help?????? P.S with a box cutter
